This hotel met all of our needs and was an excellent choice for our first trip to London! Convenient location near lots of eateries and TWO tube stations(Earl’s Court and Gloucester). Lovely décor, great customer service and spacious well appointed rooms. There is a mini fridge also and cute little gym(thought I only went twice!. .. but got plenty of cardio walking daily in the UK!) Two thumbs up! :)

[It’s in the details where they lost a star] NEGATIVES: * This hotel had only one working lift(elevator), creating a problem when guests arrive with baggage as the lifts are small.(Capacity: Only six people at a time without baggage.) * Gym shower faucets didn’t work properly. * Toilets were iffy; they didn’t always flush. You have to play with the lever for a while before you can get it to release a good enough flush. By the time you get it done, there isn’t enough water in the reservoir for the flush to happen. * The room’s shower had a partitioning glass which let water out onto the floor when taking showers. * Internet required a log-in every time you needed to use it. But usually had to keep logging back on because the service would bump me off. Sometimes, logging back on was a challenge.(It’s via pop-up screen for user/password which is provided at the reception desk.) * Many times, I heard bumping from the room upstairs and sometimes from the room next door. POSITIVES: * The room was very well presented and set for arrival. It was very elegant, even compared to the Crowne Plaza in Kensington. * Very friendly staff * Small gym had no weights, but did have a pulley machine for resistance training, two treadmills, a rower, two ellipticals, a couple yoga mats, a medicine ball, a stereo for use, and a water cooler.(Gender-specific saunas were located in their respective bathrooms) * The bathroom had a very nice set of hygiene and personal care items(toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, lotion, conditioner, shampoo/shower gel, and comb) all contained in a matching tray. * The bedding was very comfortable. * The wifi signal was good, but see above for negatives. * Breakfast was excellent; very delicious spread in a buffet style layout. * Gloucester is a few steps out. This is where you’ll find several shops, cafés, and restaurant options.

The hotel is beautiful, as you come in you can get fruit flavored water and the staff are extremely friendly. You can even exchange all your coins for bills. The room is quite nice, we had a double twin and a pull out couch for the kids. The size was perfect for our family. The freebie hygiene products were very nice, including shampoo, conditioner, body milk, orange scented soap(my favorite), comb, brush, sponge, shower cap, shaving kit, toothbrush as toothbrush. So if you happen to forget anything it’s provided for. The restaurant down stairs is excellent, if not expensive, however, the fare is delicious! Now onto why I am only giving 3 stars. The beds are a bit hard, and the pillows are stiff and flat. The toilet was finicky, you had to pull the lever up and let it stay that way for a bit and then pull it down, and then you MIGHT get it to flush. Finally, the hair dryer literally only worked for 10 seconds a day. All in all I would still recommend this hotel to anyone who is coming to London.

Sehr angenehmes Hotel in London South Kensington. Immer wieder gerne.

This is a fairly pedestrian, impersonal hotel in South Kensington. It’s very close to Gloucester Road tube station, which is a bonus(and also to my favorite bar there, the Stanhope Arms, which is another story!). But they ought to realise that £4.50 for a pint of Stella Artois at the bar is just plain silly, and breakfast at £17.50 is really just taking the mickey. Needless to say, I didn’t eat breakfast there. It’s definitely not the best hotel I’ve stayed in in South Kensington, and I’m pretty certain I wouldn’t go back.
