I stumbled upon this place the other day during the design festival and I had unfortunately just bought a take away iced coffee from Starbucks. This was a shame because these guys had a nice looking iced coffee on offer. The cake selection was vast and delicious looking but it was the small collection of homewares that caught my eye. I’ve been looking for a candle for a while and bought a lovely little one for just over a tenner(I think!) I’ve been pretty happy with this candle, lovely smell and design, though it’s lucky I liked it because there wasn’t a large selection. The only thing I found a bit off-putting was when I tried to be friendly to the proprietor she was a bit standoff-ish and abrupt with me. I made a remark about the fact that I’m a freelancer and it’s the type of place I would love to enjoy a pot of tea and cake at while I do emails. She immediately said«we don’t encourage that» and walked away. A little rude but then again, maybe the cakes make up for it?

Stumbled across this charming little tea and gift shop during a visit to the«Queens Park Design District» which sprung up in Lonsdale Road during London Design Week this week. Nineteen actually looked a bit out of place but we were lured in by the promise of «Designer Dogs» — they even had a sample on display, so top marks for effort! We weren’t quite sure if the café had popped up for the weekend only but a little research since revealed that this is indeed a permanent ficture and used to be known as CC’s. It’s appeal is more ladies afternoon tea than hipster espresso, but it’s certainly worth a walk down the street rather than going for any of the more obvious chain outlets along the main road. The hot dogs were rather tasty, by the way.
