I went to the Ninetyeight twice. The first time was a while ago, during cocktail week. My friend and I had no idea it even existed — it is a bit hidden from the street, you have to go down a flight of stairs to find it. That’s probably why it manages to be on Curtain Road and not be ridiculously crowded on weekends. Mind you, there are still lots of people. Just not to the point when it gets ridiculous. On our first visit with were greeted by adorable staff, and after ordering the cocktail of the London Cocktail Week — that’s what we were here for after all, and it was delicious, I don’t remember exactly what went in it but it involved gin and that is always a good thing — we started chatting with the manager. It was a Tuesday night and they hadn’t been open for that long. They actually gave us free samples of a cocktail they were launching that week and it was delicious as well. Cocktails are around £10 but well worth it. Staff is very pleasant even when there are lots of people. The place looks amazing. Bubblegum dispenser, awesome artworks, quirky furniture, and more recently a «white room»(and they’re not joking about the white part, you’re not even allowed to drink red wine in it). I won’t spoil it for you, you’ll have to go look for yourselves! The whole place kind of feels like it could be a crazy person’s house and really, where else would you want to spend the night?

This place was a great little find. Everywhere we’d tried beforehand were either too busy or charging to get in, and we just wanted a quiet-ish drink in nice surroundings. This fitted the brief perfectly. Quirky interior, welcoming staff and quality cocktails. I had a whisky craving so ordered a couple of drinks along those lines, both were excellent. It got really busy towards the end and we were sat near the door so it was a bit awks but that’s not their fault. Highly recommended!

Really cool bar, décor is quirky and different. Staff were lovely and friendly and even sat us at the lego table as they knew we were on a first date so if it was going badly we could just play with lego. Really nice atmosphere, highly recommended
