Whoa! This is a great great great shop — I’m pretty staggered that it’s opened just opposite my office in(let’s face it) a pretty dingy stretch of the London Road. A little miracle. It’s become a Friday habit to buy some cheese for the weekend. They specialize in small-scale artisanal cheeses from pretty much across Europe. Service is extremely friendly, professional, and enthusiastic. Tastes willingly given! Had a gorgeous Tunworth last week, and some Cashel this week. I’m looking forward to eating my way through their entire stock-holding.

The Norbiton Fine Cheese Co is an absolute gem, and worth seeking out, as it is a little tucked away, I stumbled across it accidentally and it is in my neighbourhood! A ‘special treat’ shop for cheese lovers, the Norbiton Fine Cheese Co has a great range of top quality speciality cheeses, including English and European cheeses, and accompaniments such as speciality crackers and chutneys. Do check the opening times before you visit, and if you can’t get there, you can order online — worth doing at busy times like Christmas as the tiny shop gets pretty busy on such occasions!

This newly-opened specialist store is a cheese-lover’s delight. It’s super-professionally run, with wares appetisingly displayed, in an authentically rustic-themed setting. The international assortment appears in optimum form, ‘conditioned’ by an expert(the shop is only open a few days a week and operates predominantly as an adjunct to their wholesale specialist supply business). Prices reflect the high standards, so it’s more likely to be an outlet to visit for special occasions, gourmet treats, savoury indulgences or gifts. Their Tomme de Chevre, with its ‘hazelnut’ rind, was the best I’ve ever tasted. The Berkswell ewes milk cheese would be a tasty English alternative to Pecorino. Cheeses can be enhanced with a perfectly ripe pick from the alluring fruit selection. The olive-wood cheese boards are ideal for practical display purposes and make a good value gift, at £14.95.
