Cheeeeeese! This is what Wallace would say if he entered this tiny shop in Richmond. in fact, as you enter the shop, a waft of hundreds of different cheeses will engulf you, which is not something for the faint-hearted ;-) In fact, just a few years ago, I would’ve not set foot in here, because of the smell, but my attitude towards cheese has changed quite a bit and now I’m actually drawn into here… I discovered this shop on a chilly winter afternoon, after a coming from a Sunday roast at a nearby pub. To be honest, I’m no cheese expert, and so I typically engage the sales person in a chat and ask them for some recommendations. I think the chap that I ended up with, wasn’t the best sales person as he didn’t really come forward with any recommendations, nor did he offer me any samples(which I know they do, as Yee Gan got them). Nevertheless, I really liked this shop and I’ll be back soon!

One of my rewards for climbing up Hill Rise to the Unilocal picnic in Richmond park yesterday was running across this little gem on the way up the hill. I had to make a stop when walking back down the hill Teddington Cheese is a wonderful cheese shop with a variety of cheese which belies its size. The cheeses are all laid out with a card explaining the origin and description of each cheese. Shelf upon shelf of cheeses coming from as close as Godstone in Surrey to other parts of the UK and abroad, including places like the Nordic countries. I was also very impressed by the service. I asked for a mild hard goat’s cheese and the owner introduced me to Ticklemore for Devon. When asked what was good at the moment, he recommended the Pont l’Eveque, which had matured more for a depth of flavour. I finished off my triumvirate of cheeses by choosing Torta, a very creamy mix of layered gorgonzola and mascarpone with the mascarpone cutting down some of the pungency of the gorgonzola. I was offered samples of all the cheeses. Another nice touch is that they include a little card with all the cheeses that you purchase with the name and little description about it Being a good cheese shop, there were also some nice biscuits and condiments like quince jelly. Luckily for a mouse like me, Teddington Cheese is too far away to be a regular haunt or I could go broke and become fat very easily!

If you like Cheese then welcome to heaven. This store was open on late Sunday as I drove past after a day in Richmond Park. The area in the store Is split between British and Foreign(basically French), with each cheese having a card to explain about it. Simple pricing and good staff to advise
