I had the fortune of eating here a couple of weeks ago. I had just arrived from the US and was tired and hungry. This was a quick walk from my hotel so why not? Went in the side door, like a dummy didn’t realize the main entrance was on the corner. No matter, they let me in and we chuckled. Looked over the menu, and said YUM! Decided on the cannelloni. Only unseemly thing: they charge for bread and butter. Sorta weird for Italian food where bread is a HUGE part of the meal. Service is very good, owner/manager comes out, explains a few dishes, etc. Very personable. Server is the same. Now the food: OMG. JUSTOMG. Most likely this is the best Italian meal I’ve had outside of Italy. Perfect doneness and consistency, fresh grated Parmesan of course was the topper along with fresh ground pepper. Then tiramisu. Not saying any more because I’m drooling just thinking about it. Winner! Pricing very reasonable aside from the bread lol. You can’t go wrong with this place!

Absolutely charming place literally three minute walk from my flat. I’m so pleased to have found this place. I ordered soup of the day(onion soup) and vongole pasta. The soup was phenomenal, I could have had it as my main. The vongole was a little unconventional, I must say, with tomato-based sauce and clams without shells. It was solid, nonetheless. My boyfriend had parma ham and melon for starter, which was very fresh, and seafood pizza for main, which he seemed to really enjoy. Service was top-notch. They seemed to have many regulars, each of whom they personally greeted when they left. Even for us first timers, they were very personal and came by to check on us multiple times. I found the manager very kind and charming. Ambience was very local — I felt like I was in a restaurant in Italy. Nothing sleek but very cozy and personable. I would go back in a heartbeat!

The food and price were fabulous. Olives and bread with butter came out before I had even ordered. The house wine was very nice. And the Lasagna was absolutely divine. Unfortunately I was too satisfied to be tempted by the dessert menu but would love to come back and try out some more dishes. Quiet on Monday evening around 6:30, but as I was finishing by 7:30 the tables were full.

Incredible Italian food. Was not prepared for such fresh ingredients, their buffalo mozzarella is among the best I’ve had so far. The avocado tricolore comes highly recommended! Very close to the underground and not too pricey. No problem getting seated without reservations on a Saturday evening(around 7:30pm). Wait staff is very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere feels very authentic Italian.

The restaurant itself is not particularly cozy, but I have lived in Italy and recognize the Italian style of it. Fair enough. The staff was super nice and friendly. The food delicious. My carbonara had a bit too much sauce for my taste and I would also have cooked the backon longer. But still very good. My friend was very happy with her Calzone. It was pretty crowded and the staff was buzzing about — it really gave that authentic Italian feeling.

The food is great. The staff is great. The owner makes his way to every table to speak. Very homey feel. The prices are great for London.

On a recent trip to London, we ate at O Sole Mio a couple of times. It was about 50 feet away from our hotel and got great recommendations from their staff so we decided to give them a shot. It reminded us a lot of our oldest daughter’s favorite restaurant from her studies in Rome, Italy. Great food, very reasonable prices, warm family service. On our first outing, I had the linguine with clams and my wife the bow tie pasta with salmon sauce. We eat a lot of seafood and the staff did a great job with the preparation. We visited again a couple of days later and my wife liked the linguine and clams so much that she ordered it and I tried the veal marsala. Once again we weren’t disappointed. Compared to some of the other restaurants and pubs we tried in London, O Sole Mio’s pricing, selection and preparation compared very favorably. We got warm greetings from the staff who recognized us as return diners and were treated just like family. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. Should we return to London, we’ll definitely pay them another visit.

Really good italian restaurant in Pimlico(London near Victoria Station). Seems to be owned and staffed by an italian family(they all look similar and talk to each other in italian). All the pasta and desserts are home made, the service is very attentive and the price is good. Lots of locals seem to go there, which is a testament to the quality of the food and service. I stayed in a hotel literally next door for 2 weeks and I eat there at least 5 times during my stay.

I stayed near Victoria station during a business trip and found this Italian Restaurant. Not a stylish one but more like a real small Ristorante in Italy(beside the cloth napkins which should be paper ones to make the illusion complete). The staff is typical as well, busy and always in a rush whereas the chef is taking the orders and having a chat with the regulars. The food was great, in fact the pizza was the best I had by now in the UK. Thin base with tasty cheese and spicy salamino, the insalata pomodoro a simple homemade one with onions and no fancy ingredients. What I’ve seen on the other customer’s tables the pasta did look very authentic as well and everybody enjoyed his meal. The menu is well balanced with italian style dishes like saltimbocca, there’s also a special menu on a panel at the wall. The atmosphere was simple, a bit noisy(it is a busy place) and for sure nothing to impress a business guest unless he’s more into authentice atmosphere and food as well. I enjoyed the stay here and for sure will come back to try the pasta myself.

Super nice — almost twee — Italian. In the area of greater Victoria hell, this place really stands out. Decent prices, decent portions, lovely wines. The veal milanese was fantastic. Sole meuniere fit the bill — all served with fresh new potatoes and veg on the side. And what veg. Seriously. Al dente and astoundingly fresh. Lovely — if dam pricey — coffees and a modest — but value-driven wine list round the place out. If you’re in the wilds of Victoria(almost Pimlico) you could do far worse thean pop round here.

A lovely little piece of Italy in Pimlico! It really did feel like we’d just gone to Italy for our dinner in this lovely, cosy restaurant. Except that the service at O Sole Mio is much better than any I’ve had in Italy! The staff are positively wondeful, super attentive and friendly, you’re never left in need of anything. The menu is broad and ticks all the traditional Italian fare boxes of pasta, pizza, lasagne etc. There are also plenty of meat and fish based dishes and daily specials. The minestrone is fantastic as is the beef carpaccio. For mains I had one of my Italian faves, Saltimboca alla Romana — veal, bacon, sage, potatoes. and they do it very well here. The coffee, as expected, is also great and the dessert menu looks well worth a try. I was, alas, too full to indulge. Give it a go! C*

This restaurant was across the way from our hotel. the décor is odd, but the food was lovely. the staff were a little hard to understand(I’m from Wales and I’m not used to italian accents made ordering a little difficult!) but it was well priced and food was delivered quite timely despite their being a rush of people. It technically was lovely but the atmosphere personally made me uncomfortable. that may just be me though. It’s definitely worth a try, but maybe not for anything romantic or personal.

The staff very friendly and accommodating and that was the highlight of our visit. The pizzas were very ordinary to be quite honest. I saw from previous comments that the décor was less than good and it was a little tires and using plastic handled cutlery raised eyebrows. Suitable for a quick meal but not for a significant occasion.

This is one of those restaurants that makes me love Pimlico. Just hearing the staff and owners yell ‘Caio Bella!’ is enough to make you aware of what you are in for. My experience on a wintery Friday night was perfection. The restuarant was crowded, but fortunately no waiting for a table. We both opted for Pizzas, the vegetarian primavera for me and a pepperoni of some sort for him. Both were fresh, had perfectly crispy edged crust with a moist chewy center. The veggie topping on mine was to die for(green red and yellow peppers, eggplant and mushrooms). Can’t really beat it with a beer to wash it down. Perfect start to the weekend. I can’t really say anything about the other menu items, but I did notice quite a lot of people finishing their plates and all seemed happy and well in this charming restaurant. Great date spot or place to divulge with friends over a bottle of wine. The large windows in the main room overlooking a nice corner in Pimlico make for good people watching while staying warm. I’ll definitely be back!

Nice little family-run Italian place in a decent neighbourhood. You know it’s authentic and good because there seem to always be customers conversing in Italian(as do the staff). Menu is about 1⁄3 pizzas(thin Italian style = 1 per person), 1⁄3 entrees, 1⁄3 salads and pasta options. All dishes I tried were very good — minestrone was some of the best I’ve ever had, and the calzone was an excellent option. Tiramisu was well done and nicely presented. Ambiance is fine — tables are a bit close together, and given the tiled floor, the place can get a bit loud, so not the best for a quiet conversation, but within normal noise range. Prices were reasonable, and certainly offering better value for money than many other options in the area. Definitely a solid choice for a good meal. Use Pimlico tube stop if you can — much easier in and out than the chaotic Victoria Station stop! Note also two great pub options nearby: Cask House and The Gallery.

This is one of my favourite Italian restaurants in Pimlico. It’s laid back, and the spartan tables, bread, jugs of water and olives give it a very Mediterranean feel to things. The staff are also friendly and attentive. Most importantly though, the food is good. My pizza was moist and its toppings fresh. They also score extra points for having a good, low alcohol beer on the menu next to the usual Perroni, Amstel and other lagers. Prices are reasonable, with pizzas costing around £8. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Having lived in Pimlico for coming on to 2 yrs, I thought I would pay O Sole Mio a visit, seeing as it is literally at the bottom of my road. So I decided to take my mother for lunch on her 62nd Birthday(she had evening plans with her toyboy) When I made the booking, I advised them of the occasion, and they suggested I bring a cake and the staff would sing Happy Birthday(I think it would have been a nicer touch to give some free cake, free cake is always a winner, especially on your mum’s birthday) We were duly seated at the front of the restaurant, which is really much like a small café/bistro, there was a private function going on in the more comfortable area. We started with Bruschetta, a simple dish, hard to mess up. The dish was fresh and nicely balanced with just the right amount of olive oil and fresh tomatoes. I ordered a Guinness and mum opted for a shandy(ok she was pacing herself) Main course was a bacon pasta dish, which was adequate, but didn’t really set the tastebuds alive. Service was a little rushed, we nipped outside for a ciggie and were told to come back quickly as our mains were nearly ready. My only complaint was the way a second drink was served. The Guinness was poured literally like a glass of coke and quickly brimmed over onto the table as the waitress ran off to more pressing issues. Another waitress promptly wiped it up clean. My mum was treated to several waiters and the owner singing happy birthday, which I guess is a regular occurrence as it was delivered in a jocular manner. The owner of the venue is very charming and made my mum feel very welcome. I will certainly visit again one evening soon, as I don’t want to base my opinion on one rushed lunch time service. The menu is competitively priced, and the restaurant is always busy. Based on this visit 7⁄10
