It was decent, small place, and the service was a little slow considering there were 4 people behind the sushi bar and 6 people sitting at the sushi bar. Coming from California where sushi bars are amazing and plentiful… it was ok. Nothing to write home about, not a lot of variety nor were they very willing to do custom rolls. It was almost like my custom roll had to meet their approval before they would be willing to try it… not willing to go outside the box. That’s ok, I will go back to California where I can have sushi my way, and it isn’t a special order! We had mochi for dessert and it was just ok too!

BAD service. They made us wait so long for our food, and then one of the rolls was wrong. To make it worse, everyone else was served except one person and halfway thru their meal she still wasn’t served her food. For the amount of time we waited, the food wasn’t worth it. Too bad. It was a thursday and we arrived at past 6.

Oh my GOD, this place is amazing. Must try super deluxe chirashi here, it contains so many incredible fishes and they are all fresh and tasty. i tried so many places in London to find the best sushi place now I come to the right place. Rice, wasabi, fish, service and atmosphere, I had to say everything here is perfectly right.

Holy shite! This place was incredible. I can’t speak to London sushi standards, but if this place is anything to go by, sushi here rules! I shared a mini chirashi bowl– yum!, fatty toro sashimi– omg butter in my mouth, a(!) foie gras, eel and jalapeño roll which was remarkable. A perfect blend of complimentary and contrasting flavors and textures. And la pièce de resistance– a dragon roll with eel. This guy was 20£ on his own and arguably you can go to an all you can eat sushi dinner for that price in most cities. But they adorned this dragon roll with banana leaf face, ginger tail and saucy dragon feet. The myriad fish(all ingredients really) that comprised it, as with everything we ordered, were fresh and delicious. My boyfriend who merely«likes» sushi doesn’t find it to be as immensely satisfying as me, or most sane people and sees it to be more or less the same anywhere he goes took a bite, shook his head, paused and said it was incredibly delicious. To top it all of(normally I wouldn’t add anything to do with a television in a restaurant as a positive note) they had muted clips of Jiro running on a discreet tell in the background. In conclusion, definitely on par with and even surpassing some of the better sushi restaurants I’ve been to in the states. And if you want to step away from über traditional nigiri /sashimi(if not– go now to okrura) and you want to have some«special rolls», far better than any sushi I’ve eaten in Europe. Disclaimer: I haven’t eaten thaaaaat much sushi in Europe. But trust me man, this place is great.

Went for the first time last night and I was really impressed! I’ve eaten my fair share of sushi in London and, in general, I’ve been disappointed. Ohisama? Definitely did not disappoint. It’s not the closest place to us but we happened to be in the area and wanted to give it a whirl. We loved the sushi bar seating; though, if that isn’t your thing they have a dining area downstairs as well. The space isn’t humongous(sushi bar — 8 – 10 seats and downstairs seating for about 20) but it does seem that they have a lot of takeaway orders(10% off the eat in prices) as there were a constant stream of phone calls and people coming in to place orders to go. We started with the seaweed salad(£5.00) which came with a fantastic miso and vinegary dressing as well as 4 different types of seaweed. A really light and refreshing way to start our meal! We opted to then have the spicy seafood soup(£5.00) as we both LOVE spicy and since it was a cool London night something warm would hit the spot. While the portion was small there was a good amount of white fish — flaky and well cooked — along with various mushrooms, tofu and seaweed. It wasn’t necessarily spicy(it seemed to be just an addition of some shichimi) but had a nice seafood and miso soup base that we both enjoyed. After our starters, I ordered the super deluxe chirashi(£26.00) which was FULL of fresh seafood. It’s definitely a bit more of a pricey place but I’m willing to pay more for higher quality. I’ve been to places in London that are cheaper but the fish quality just isn’t that great. Every piece included in the chirashi was incredibly fresh and well cut. Also, the rice underneath was well cooked and slightly vinegary with a smattering of pickles and tamago throughout the rice. I was in heaven. Adam ordered one of the sushi specials, Jo(£24.50), which came with various pieces of sushi along with some salmon and tuna maki. He agreed that the fish was fresh and the sushi well made. When we have a craving for sushi, this will definitely be one of the top places in London we think of.

I ADORETHISPLACE!!! This place is the lottery of sushi, CHEAP and DELICIOUS. How this is possible, you may ask, I actually don’t know, cause cheap sushi usually ain’t that good, and Nobu can only be done post sale of my corneas. Don’t let the tiny entrance scare you, and let them take you downstairs. Order, order and order with confidence, because this place is special and it’s so reasonably priced that you will wonder how it is that it is still there and not being invaded by the various yummy mummies of Marylebone. A must for sushi-lovers on a budget!

We went here based on the good Unilocal reviews and we were not disappointed. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is it was a little pricier than it should have been. The server was definitely 5 stars. We go to sushi quite often but there’s always things we don’t know, and she explained questions we had about the menu in a very non-condescending way which I really appreciated! She was fast and very friendly. We ordered a medium fatty tuna nigiri, avocado roll, california roll, and a tuna roll. Everything was very good. In particular, the tuna roll was much better than we are used to. We usually get a pile of mushy tuna in our roll, but you knew exactly what you were eating in this roll. This place definitely hits the spot for a sushi craving! There is more seating downstairs, so don’t turn away based on the small upstairs. Also, the restroom is modern and very clean — always a perk!

So I heard that this is the best sushi in the area. And yes, there’s definitely a great selection and their sashimi was delicious. However, we ordered this for the office and I felt like it tasted weirdly greasy. I just didn’t really like the texture in my mouth. I felt like they added something into the sushi that just shouldn’t be in there. Maybe mayo or something tasteless like that? Anyway, I will taste again because people keep telling me how good it is. I will make wiser choices in flavour next time.

Really good authentic sushi. I got the avocado ura maki, nato hoso maki, vegetable tempura roll and the nasu dengaku gunkan. They were all great, I definitely recommend getting the vegetable tempura roll and nasu dengaku gunkan.
Wasn’t too impressed with the Nasu Dengaku appetiser as it swimming in a very watery sauce and lacked flavour. Overall it’s was very good, will definitely be coming back here again

I’ll keep this simple: Great sushi, inexpensive, friendly if slightly awkward staff, clean, bright(almost too bright) space. They happily prepared all of our rolls without mayo and never chased us out despite our table overstaying their opening hours by at least 45 minutes. Not exactly romantic ambiance, but the quality of the fish more than made up for it.

This place is about a 3 – 5 minute walk from my office, and it totally hit the spot last week when I felt the need for sushi. I thought the place was tiny, but it turns out there is additional seating downstairs. I think there are maybe 7 – 8 seats at the sushi counter, and one table for two upstairs. I was getting takeaway, so no matter. The menu is pretty extensive, and the sushi is made to order. I had a very fresh and delicious spicy tuna roll, followed by avocado and cucumber. Nom. For about £4.50 a roll it probably doesn’t get better. Friendly service, good menu, very fresh and delicious sushi… Perfect.

This is the best sushi I’ve had in London — probably because it reminded me of sushi you get in CA(i.e fried with mayo). It’s a small space(one table and room for 8 at the bar). We got the crispy rice with tuna, spicy tuna roll, mystery roll, lobster with butter lettuce, and rock shrimp roll. I will go back to try more!

I’m disappointed in myself that I waited so long before I reviewed Ohisama. I’m going to leave experience aside this time: The vocal and irritable couple next to use really didn’t help the situation, neither did communication breakdown with the waitress. But these are things I’m happy to overlook for the sake of food. Let’s deal with the food: We ordered the Omakase A which was 8 pieces of sashimi, 7 pieces of nigiri(or gunkan) and 6 rolls and also a mini chirashi. As you may know from previous review, the biggest pet peeve I have when it comes to sushi is bad rice. Not to worry, the rice here is perfectly cooked and seasoned. This automatically makes everything better. The omakase and chirashi was handed over to me from the other side of the sushi counter. The rice was sticky, but singularly defined, it had just enough seasoning to bring out the taste of the rice and not the vinegar, sugar or salt. I wasn’t told what I was eating when the omakase was handed to me, but each piece looked absolutely exquisite. The white fish sashimi was unlike any other that I tasted, where most were spongy and«fishy»(the bad kind), this was still fishy but had a distinct, almost buttery flavour to it. I moved along the nigiri steadily, and all where incredible, the fish and the workmanship is second to none here. What really stole the show was the seared fatty tuna /otoro. It was so good, I had to order it again despite it’s off-putting appearance. This place is what I’ve been looking for — beautiful, delicious and fresh sushi at a reasonable price. It’s a shame my greedy self wouldn’t let me stop. I will be back shortly. Please don’t book when I’m trying to. Finders keepers.

Excellent sushi. The service was good, considering the place was full(we went on a Friday evening). The waitresses struggle a bit with English, but they’re helpful and cute. The sushi is the best I’ve had in London. The ingredients are fresh, there is a good selection and everything tasted superb. The prawn tempura, spicy salmon maki rolls and prawn maki rolls are to die for. Will definitely come back.

Amazing sushi, and I can confirm everything in the previous review. The chef did work at Nobu for 16 years, which is confirmed by the high standard of sushi and menu items. It was also confirmed by the fact two of his former colleagues that still work at Nobu came to see him while we were there and we chatted with them quite a bit. Hands down the best sushi I’ve had in London at surprisingly affordable prices. Highly recommend the following dishes(also on the Nobu menu and you could not tell the difference in a blind taste test) — yellowtail sashimi appetizer, rock shrimp tempura, crispy rice, scallop and shrimp roll, spicy tuna roll, doctor watsons roll. This is still in the soft opening phase and is still BYOB until they get their liquor license. However, they do take credit cards at the moment. As mentioned below, staff is *extremely* slow and there is a bit of a language barrier, but the food more than made up for that so I had to give this five stars.

The restaurant has only been open for a couple of days, but the sushi is delicious! The head sushi chef previously worked at Nobu for 16 years here in London — pretty impressive. When you walk in it looks like the restaurant consists of only a sushi bar — not so fast! There’s extra seating AND another sushi bar downstairs. Definitely do not judge this book by it’s cover — way more room than you’d expect. Only reason I rated this 4 instead of 5 stars is because the waitresses hardly spoke any English and were VERY slow. Yes, I’ll cut them some slack — they’ve only been working there for a few days, but their attentiveness needs to improve. Overall: High quality sushi for an affordable price!
