Great place, great staff, the meat pies were solid(I would recommend the steak) really felt comfortable hanging out. Well done!

What a great place to enjoy a pint… I’m fairly new to London and was out exploring when I saw the Fullers sign. Not sure if I wanted anything, but decided to stop in because the building looked interesting. Good decision. The interior is absolutely beautiful. Open with lots of comfortable places to sit. The beer garden will be a must when the weather warms a bit. What set this place apart was the service. The waitstaff took the time to talk about the history of the building and even show me around a bit. Special thanks to Stephano for the tour. Can’t wait to stop by again the next time I’m in town.

Nice concept. Old bank but limited atmosphere which is a bit of a shame as under the correct management this old money pit could be an attractive little night club in my eyes. However maybe those days are over. Oh well at least there was a good selection of ye old ale

This is one of the most beautiful pubs I have ever seen. It’s high ceilings and ornate decorations have a real wow factor when you walk in. Sadly so did the smell, but not in a good way. We were in the area and looking for somewhere for a final drink before heading home and saw this place. It’s impressive from the outside and we wanted to see more. However, despite the stunning interior, we all were hit by a wall of stench. A couple of us immediately thought it smelt like dog food. It really wasn’t pleasant and was pungent enough to make us turn round and walk out. I really would like to spend some time here admiring the place and I’ve given three stars for the actual building and interior as it is gorgeous. We just couldn’t stomach the smell.

We stopped by after dinner nearby for a pint. The beer selection along with the whisky and whiskey selection were very good. The atmosphere is excellent. Everyone we met was really friendly and helpful. As everyone knows this was the old Bank of England. Apparently not everyone ends up down inside the old vault. That was very cool. After going through the main vault entrance, that was very impressive, but not so easy to take a picture of, we went inside. As you can see there are some pretty impressive lockers there. After all you can never be too careful storing your Pimms #1 and Jagermeister.

Do you like to mix with Barristers? If so, this is the place for you. It’s one of a number of watering holes used by the bewigged ones and they can generate an awful lot of noise. However, the space itself makes up for this. It’s certainly a grand and impressive building and well maintained inside. There is lots of space to stand and the bar is many sided and large. I have eaten here but not for years. Fullers pub though they always have guest ales on. This is one of the better pubs on Fleet Street. Don’t forget the upstairs part should it be packed when you visit.

Fleet Street. City Of London. As a tourist, I would much rather spend a day wandering down here and taking in the history than most of Westminster, just the buzz of ‘real London’ is worth it tenfold. You won’t find many tourists down here in comparison, and you could literally spend the entire afternoon looking at buildings and popping into pubs between St Clement Danes and Farringdon Street.(This pub, Ye Olde Cock, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, The Old Bell and Punch Tavern) We’d planned our way to stop at this pub as we are all about historic interiors and PIES. Yes, the pies — more later… First off, the interior of this pub is breathtaking. It was once a branch of the Bank Of England and was built in 1888. Crazier still, the tunnels and vaults below the pub are said to be where notorious Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Sweeney Todd, carried out his atrocities. He was famous for his pies too… It’s a Fullers, which always gets a thumbs up from me for their consistent quality. Yes, they are a chain but between them and Nicholson’s, you can’t beat the ales on tap or the food if you want a consistently good experience. So… on to the pies. This(along with the pie at the Bree Louise), was the absolute best CHAIN-pub-pie I’ve had in England. And I’ve had a ton of pies. These are hand crafted fresh pies, not the ones you get at the Tesco. Went with the Steak &ESB pie along with a pint of(They also have Chicken/Ham & Leek, Lamb Hotpot, Fish, and Sweet Potato & Goat Cheese for the veggies). Yes, they are pricey, but absolutely worth the £13!

Went here for a Friday lunch close to work. They have a courtyard so we were able to sit in the sun rather than inside when it was so lovely out. We sat down and started looking at the menu and a waiter came to the table which was nice, usually don’t expect table service at a pub and was great not to have to get up and place our orders at the bar in waves to save the table. I had a Heinkein which in all honesty was a bit watery, I thought it was just me, but had a few friends who also agreed. When you are paying £5 for a pint you would hope this isnt the case. The food was more upmarket than most pub fare with options like see bass, salmon salads and ravioli. I opted for a standard burger which was lovely and definitely not standard. It came with big chunky chips and bacon came included. The food did take about 35 mins to arrive which was frustrating as we were on our lunch break and had to rush to get back to the office. I would go back, but I would also make sure that if I ordered food I had no place to be. The nanager was very friendly and happy to help with our concerns and also with the bill.

One of the few pubs that still looks good when they turn on the lights and ask you to leave … but the best moment is the first impression as you walk through massive doors into a high-ceilinged hall. Perfect place to impress foreign visitors — or anyone, really, most Londoners don’t take a walk down Fleet Street without good reason. While it has a lovely Olde Worlde feel to it, it is not actually an old pub but one installed in a beautifully restored old bank(hint is in the name). I quite like the Sweeney Todd connection, too, and the fact that they take pride in their pies …

Came here from the U.S. and it was awesome. The high ceilings and«back-in-the-day» feel make it as comforting as the food. They have a great selection of home made pies that are so delicious and the beers pair perfectly! I got the steak pie and ESB beer and it was unreal. The crust and filling of the pie were spot on!

A really nice pub on Fleet Street! The pub is situated in an old law court which has been transformed into this traditional pub. Its kept all the very grand features of an important building, I have to say I felt like I was walking into a hotel when I was going up the stairs! I was here with a few work colleagues to grab some lunch. The food was great. I had the Steak and Ale Pie which was really nice! My colleagues also had pies which they all said were also very good. The one downer was the seating… a bit knackered and wobbly as I sat down! Other than that the staff were great, food was great, beer was nice! They served some good local ales which was refreshing to see.

The Old Bank of England is a former branch of THE Bank of England, on Fleet Street next door to the Royal Courts of Justice. According to its history Sweeny Todd use to cut up his bodies in the basement. Anyways — it is now a Fuller Ale and Pie pub. There’s a strong WOW factor as you enter and see the opulent interior. There is a full menu including the speciality being pies for c. £9.95. Although wines and spirits are served the main drink is beer. My choice is either Chiswick or London Pride, both served in excellent condition. A great place to visit.

This is a beautiful pub and can accommodate pretty large groups which is always welcome with 15+ colleagues on a Friday lunch trip. The location is also excellent, and the service is swift and friendly. Aside from that, the food is overpriced and served lukewarm at best. My order of pork and leek sausage with fried onions on a white baguette(no they don’t do wholemeal baguettes), was just that lukewarm, and even though the side of chips looked appealing, you soon realise that they too are only lukewarm. My colleague ordered a main of roast chicken with rice, and for just under a tenner, the portion is what I’d give a 7 year old. Poor guy had to order a side of chips after he finished just to fill up a bit, and he’s not that much bigger than I am! Drinks are the average price you would pay in any London pub. If you can stick to a ‘liquid lunch’ then good on you, but if you need something a little more substantial then you’ll fare much better by visiting other nearby pubs, including Ye Old Cheshire Cheese and The Devereux, which have better food, a good few pounds cheaper, and it’ll be served to you hot.

A stop on a London Walk. Spectacular interior. It’s a Fullers pub so the usual on tap including London Pride and ESB. Plenty of space including an upstairs balcony for viewing the patrons below and the ornate ceiling above. Well worth a stop for the fantastic restoration. Of course, the London Pride is one of my favorites.

Not know much about the history of the premise except from hearsay… one which says it used to really be the Bank of England office. I can believe it with the detailed designs in the ceiling, the interior oozes history and style… but why turn it into just a pub(my friend Alice remarked). In a way, she made a valid point. It could have easily been let out to entrepreneural restaurateur who can make use of the stylish space into a potential michellin star place. Anyways, I come here for the monthly Austrian Club drinks. The camaraderie usually makes you forget about the beauty of the place. As they say, a party is as good as the company. I just hoped the wine wasn’t as warm as the reception. The bar tender even made a point that it is the right temperature for a wine. Not in my books I’m afraid.

A few walks away from the Theater District, passed the Royal Courts of Justice is the Old Bank of England. The interior of this place is absolutely beautiful with the high ceiling, intricate designs and big chandeliers. I saw some people eating the food there and they looked amazing! Unfortunately I went there after dinner so I was not able to eat :( It’s a must-see place for the beautiful interior if you are visiting London. It is probably somewhere you go to stop by for a drink or grab a beer after work if you lived there.

This pub really looks great(they use the word opulent on their website. and this is not an exaggeration). The staff are lovely, but the price of 3.75 for a beer under 4pc strength is extortion! Shame they don’t have a guest beer either. Their pies are delicious, however. And I’d like to go back to see the courtyard. Completely missed that.

I’m pretty sure my friend got her purse stolen here. But I could be mistaken so uh, don’t take my word for it. Anyway I went here on a date and it was fantastic. The fellow I went out with is now a good friend rather than a significant other, however we enjoyed quite a lovely conversation over a few beers at Bank. First of all, it’s on Fleet St which to me is one of the most interesting places in London– the Royal Courts are here, as is Temple Church and the courtyards that are famous amongst many literary works, etc etc. As it was mentioned, this pub used to be a branch of the Bank of England so you can imagine it’s pretty awesome inside as far as ambiance goes. It takes rather long to get a drink even on a slow night but I still sincerely recommend coming here if you’re looking for a unique London experience.

This impressive pub was built in 1888, originally as the branch of the Bank of England for the adjacent law courts. Now a Grade I listed building, its elaborate Italianate architecture makes for a fine pub in its new guise. The central bar is, of course, a new addition, but seems to fit in well. The beer range includes all the Fuller’s staples, which seem to be well kept — the high turnover probably helps, as this place always seems to be very busy. They do food — both bar food, and there is a restaurant — but I’ve not eaten here. My main criticism is the lack of seating, especially if they reserve the balcony for a private function. But it’s worth a pint if you are in the area, just to admire the interior — and possibly then pop down to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, which is more of a real traditional pub!!!
