Pace is a commercial gallery which operates about a dozen locations around the world. There are two locations in London, the other is a smaller gallery in Soho, Lexington off Brewer Street.
This larger location occupies prime art real estate and is at the rear of the Royal Academy. It’s basically at Burlington Gardens/​Saville Row, opposite Abercrombie & Fitch (cringe.) Pick between taking the tube to Piccadilly Circus or Green park, it’s equidistant to both.
The gallery is one large area with columns throughout and frequently exhibits works by contemporary Chinese artists. It is arguably the best gallery to stay up to date with if you are interested in Chinese art or its market.
If you are interested in getting to grips with contemporary art, it is a good idea to visit Pace along with Whitechapel and Lisson Gallery. Between the 3 of them it’s very possible to get a good idea of what the art market is like today and get to know some of the more renowned names in contemporary art.
