this place is quaint and gets crowded easily with its lack of space… michael with the shaved head and beard cut my hair and did a great job and didn’t take too long… i guess my only complaint is that he wasn’t that friendly… he didn’t give out a friendly vibe or talk much apart from the very start to ask what kind of hair cut i wanted or when i asked him questions… i could hear the other barbers enjoying conversations with their clients… i’m sure michael is a nice guy and probably just had a bad day so ill give him the benefit of the doubt… but i would still recommend this place to get a hair cut…

So I got talking to Daniel while he was manning a stand at Unilocal’s Night in White yesterday, and he was selling me on Pall Mall Barbers. Unfortunately he was fully booked for that evening’s free haircuts but said to email him, and he’d sort me out. I DIDNOT do this. This is a review based on booking an appointment online, and then paying for it. They give freebies during the event and I’m all for it. I’m not going to ask for one just because I was late and missed out. Booked for 2pm with Amanda(hadn’t read Oliver M’s review at the time, and happy I didn’t). She was a little late, only five minutes or so but came over and asked if that was okay. It was a half hour slot but in the end I ended up being in the chair for 45 minutes, okay as there was no one after me, and it’s easy to see how they could get a little backed up. We spent about 5 – 10 mins discussing my hair before she started cutting, so she understood what I was looking for, but I gave her a fair amount of freedom, always interested to see what someone new will do with my hair. I came out looking good, and with a nice new variation on my usual short back and sides. Very happy and I think, as its only 2 mins walk from work, that I have a new local barber!

First and last time for me, I had a really bad experience with Amanda. Most probably she’s usually much better and nicer, or maybe everyone else there is, I don’t know. But today I left with the worst haircut I’ve had in years and a bad feeling about the place. I hadn’t had a haircut for a couple of months, which I told her right at the start. I gave really quite simple instructions, which nobody else has ever had a problem with(really quite short around the sides and the back, but still covered, and longer on top). She didn’t cut it as short as I wanted, and when it became apparent she was finished I said I definitely wanted it quite a bit shorter. Then all of a sudden she became very bitchy, saying that if I’d wanted it cut after two months I should really have booked a restyle appointment(£40), because now I’d only booked half an hour and she didn’t have the time.(As it happens, I had to wait 20 minutes upon arriving for my appointment because she was still busy with someone else. Probably not her fault, maybe the last guy came in late or something, but definitely all the more reason to be extra friendly to me.) She did cut my hair a bit more but she was obviously rushing it and in a bad mood about it, all the while saying how my instructions hadn’t been clear and how I’d booked the wrong type of appointment. Absolute nonsense, I’ve received far better half-hour haircuts, after three or four months, for less than half of what I payed here. As I said, most people seem to have positive things to say, so maybe my experience was a fluke. Nonetheless, I won’t be coming back, and I suggest you avoid Amanda just to be safe.

Have been getting my hair cut here since I moved in 2008. I generally go to Mindi, but Michelle also does a great job. Usually not too pushy with the products, which I appreciate. Got my hair treatment once too, but it was unremarkable.

Interesting to see the range of reviews here. I’m not sure what to make of the gap. My experience has been very positive. The stylists are extremely sweet. They work quickly. They give good haircuts, and they are reasonably priced.

The hair cut itself came out was all right although they seemed unexperienced and slow while cutting it the guy who actually gave the idea what to do was a hairstylist, he seemed to know what he was doing so I might try him next time if I decide to go back there and it will only be because its cheap and close by.

I got fed up of paying loads for a haircut that I was never happy with at a local branch of a certain haircutting chain in London. And so I did what anyone in my situation would do, and searched the internet. Somehow I happened upon this place and decided to give it a go. I’ve had my hair cut by 4 different people here — Spartacus(amazing name!) was the first, and thanks to him I’ve kept coming back. The last 3 times I’ve had it done by Ben, and he’s very good as well. I like the ethos of Pall Mall, you can talk to them beforehand, and they’ll give you their honest and expert opinion. The conversation while they’re working their magic isn’t forced like some places, and they’ll also give you tips on styling to give you the look you want once they’re finished, and recommend the best product for the job. I’ve bought some Matt Mudd(which is one of their own brands) like a previous reviewer, on Ben’s recommendation, and honestly it’s the best hair product I’ve ever used. I’ve never had a bad haircut here, and I’ll put money on this staying true for the future. Worth every penny, and every star!

First time I went here I had my hair cut by Adrian. He done a fantastic job. Been a regular since and they always do a fantastic job no matter who cuts my hair. Easily one of, if not, the best barbers in London.

Had my hair cut by stef a while back. Really professional cut with a consultation at the beginning where you felt like the barber knew what he was talking about — a rarity these days. Had to try other barbers closer to work since, but having got nothing near what I did back at the pal mal barbers, I’ll be taking time out to make the trip over in future.

Been in once and was very satisfied. Pall Mall is a great place to go for a scissor cut, not too expensive for the West End of London. Got my cut from Adrian, pretty funny guy, and very dedicated to his craft. This is one of those places you can come in, sit down, read a paper and relax for a few minutes while waiting for your barber. Friendly atmosphere. Website has the background info of the barbers to look over before booking an appointment. Only regret is not being able to afford the wet shave, they’re expensive, but I’ll save up for a treat one of these days.

This is a great wee place tucked away on Whitcomb Street(about 30 seconds walk from Leicester Square). I’ve had my hair cut here four or five times now and it’s great, plus not too expensive compared to some of the other more central places(bonus!). The staff are always really friendly and professional and you can request a specific person if you fancy — I usually just take pot luck and have never been disappointed. You can book appointments by phone or online, but if you fancy nipping round it’s worth just calling to check as they can get busy… that said they’re usually pretty flexible and accommodating when possible. A wet cut is £18.50, clippers and dry cut are around £13 pounds. There’s a lot worse places to go when you’ve got a high barnet!
