Pizzas and pasta are average. Wine less than average. Inform the staff that wine is below par and they’ll say they«wouldn’t drink it»(really!). Service sucks.

Staff are lovely, and I love the giant big tables. I wouldn’t say this was the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life though, and the garlic rolls weren’t as good as the reviews had led me to believe. The food was ok but combine this with exceptionally good value(on weekday lunch), and a kind waitress — and you get a pleasant spot that I wouldn’t turn down another visit to.

Papa Del’s offers an eclectic and interesting pizza menu, as well as delicious-looking pasta. All of us ordered our own individual pizzas, given our high hunger levels and the thin Papa Del’s crust. I enjoyed mine, which had olives, artichokes, and a few other veggie toppings, plus my addition of tuna. One oddity was that the toppings come clumped in three heaps around the perimeter of the pizza, so I had to distribute them myself. Then, I did find the pizza needed some additional salt and pepper(provided on the table). The pizza also is not sliced for you, and cutting into it with the provided cutlery can be a bit challenging. That said, I managed to wrestle the pizza into my mouth eventually. We saw a few other diners receive pasta dishes, and while I did not try one, they looked phenomenal. If their taste is as good as their appearance, you should try a pasta here. I wasn’t thrilled with the service, which was friendly but slow. Papa Del’s was also out of many of the beers listed on the menu; a disappointment to be sure. I’m not sure how Papa Del’s stacks up against other pizza places in London, but as a tourist, I’d argue that its strengths are creative and varied toppings and a relatively affordable price. The low points for me were slow service and an atmosphere more conducive for quick meals than lingering in conversation.

Nice atmosphere, great tables. Sadly, the pre-made pizza dough has milk in it. They do pasta, salads and lots of drinks instead!

I really don’t get it. How can anybody not like or even hate this place? I understand that it can get a bit crowded most of the time and the service won’t be as quick, but it’s understandable. I visited this place for the first time with a friend of mine and we had a very nice dinner there. We have both heard of the place before, but neither one of us had ever been there, so we decided to go together. Our intention was just to order a pizza and something sweet for dessert, but when we found out that all pizzas cost only £4 after 9pm we decided to try out as much kinds as we can. We ended up ordering 4 pizzas, which all tasted delicious and I myself can’t still decide which one is my favourite or maybe they all just are. The service was great. All the staff are very polite and warm. We haven’t even noticed when it got really crowded until our waiter told us that the dessert will be on the house as service was a little slow that particular evening according to him.

Hooray! After countless soggy, expensive and bland takeaways I have found my «local» takeaway! Papa Del’s was great! I had a halloumi wrap on homemade pitta which was huge(altho a little too greasy for my liking), toffee pie(which wasn’t horrible and frozen like most places delivery it) and a mozzarella and avocado salad which was fresh and crisp. I’m impressed with the quick delivery and super friendly delivery man. It really goes to show that good customer service and good food keeps people coming back and I definitely will be a regular.

One of my favourite local pizza places I took my mum who was visiting London recently and it didn’t disappoint! The garlic rolls are a must-have, butter with lots of fresh garlic and parsley! The pizzas were fresh and the bases light and crispy, one had thickly hand-cut pieces of parma ham and rocket, the other the Florentina comes with a choice of bacon or mushroom, I’ve tried both and they’re both good but this one does benefit from the addition of extra olives. The pizzas are pretty good value in any case and when I have eaten the £4 deal pizza I have to report that these have been equally good full sized pizzas with plenty of toppings, a great cheap solution for a can’t be bothered to cook night. The service here has generally been very good, the staff are friendly and helpful, and although there have been the odd Fawlty Towers-esque moment sometimes when new staff have started working there any problems have been quickly sorted out. The large tables seem to work pretty well wether we have gone as a couple or as a larger group, although I recommend getting a slate to put your wine on as the surface can be a bit unpredictable!

I celebrated my birthday at Papa Del’s, and everyone loved their pizza/pasta. Do not expect ‘deep pan’ doughy pizzas here: pizza bases are thin and crunchy so yes, you actually have to chew your food rather than gulp it down. Pizza toppings are not the usual, ordinary fare either. Mine sported goat’s cheese, wholegrain mustard, rocket and honey. Yes, honey. You won’t know how delicious that is until you’ve tried it. Customer service is great: adaptations to accommodate food allergy plagued eaters were easily arranged.(phone in advance) And the complimentary giant slice of chocolate cake for my birthday was a nice touch. Shame I don’t like choc cake, but everyone else loved it!

Think pizza, think pasta Think Papa Del’s in Highgate. As you walk through the door to this hidden, North London gem of a restaurant, you are struck instantly by two things; first, the almost spa-like sensation you’re left with after only a few minutes of basking in it’s warm, ambient glow and second, the overwhelmingly indulgent scent of their trademark cookies, pouring from the kitchen. After being greeted by our charming and incredibly handsome waiter Carlos,(who we later learned was married, sorry girls) we were encouraged to sit wherever we liked around one of the just two colossal wooden tables which dominated the restaurant floor. While this style might not be for everyone, we soon found ourselves embracing this typically Japanese approach and basking in the invitingly cosy atmosphere it subsequently produced. Fairy lights twinkled and The Puppini Sisters played melodically in the background as we sipped house red and ordered our very reasonably-priced food(which gets even cheaper after 9pm). Garlic rolls arrived to start with their own take on garlic bread which we unashamedly inhaled, despite only having waited a few minutes for them to arrive. My carbonara was rich and creamy on just the right amount of fresh pasta and the pizza was crisp, tasty and according to my Italian friend, about as authentic as it comes. After polishing off our bottle of wine and soaking up about as much of the fragrant atmosphere as we could in the process, we were treated to homemade cookies and ice cream. Utter heaven. All this and the bill came to less than £30 The following day, after a night of sheer, blissful indulgence, we just had to go back to sample their famous breakfast menu; eggs Benedict, rich Italian coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice later and I’m seriously considering moving to North London. Whatever time of day you visit this place, you’ll leave with a contented grin on your face and a satisfied feeling in your tummy. Just make sure you don’t leave without a cookie.

Papa Del’s is a great little pizza place near Highgate. We got 4 lunch take away specials which were small pizzas with salad, garlic rolls, and soft drink. The pizza were 6-inch and had three toppings. Everyone got something a little different and all were great. I got a tuna, artichoke, and mushroom which was top notch! The salads were freshly made in front of us and had a great balsamic vinaigrette. Fresh bits of corn were also on the salad together with black olives. Overall, it was fast and tasty. Oh, the tables in the restaurant are amazing too. They look like 500 year old oak planks and beams. Very cool.

Dreadful! I can’t provide you with my honest, objective account of my visit to this establishment as my reviews about Papa Del’s keep getting censored/removed by qype management. Maybe that’s why there are so many positive reviews about this very mediocre eatery?

The beat thing about this place is the tables inside! these big massive, wooden, interesting tables! The food was good, or as Unilocal puts it A-OK. But cool place to chill and reasonable price too.

While on our way to Jacksons Lane in High Gate, me and a good friend of mine decided that we were craving some Italian cuisine, sure enough right across the street from the exit to High Gate underground there sat a cute little restaurant that said Pasta and Pizza right on the window. As I walked into this restaurant, I was immediately reminded of a small café in the woods. All the tables and even the chairs were made of wood and had a very cabin like feel to it. I enjoyed the atmosphere thoroughly. In addition to the cabin like atmosphere, there sat two huge tables with benches so everyone shared a table which set a friendly atmosphere for the whole restaurant and if you want a little bit more intimate setting there was a smaller table on the side with three seats. The menu had what you desired from pasta, salads, garlic bread and of course pizza. Although I am a huge pasta fan, I decided to try out the cesar that was on the menu. To say the least, I was very satisfied with the outcome and the taste of my salad. It had everything from the croutons to the Parmesan cheese(I even think they mixed some anchovies in the dressing… sooo good). As i was eating, a magnificent aroma filled the air… chocolate chip cookies fresh baked. Immediately after i had finished my salad you can bet i ordered one of those. They were scrumptious and only 60p!!! If you can guess… i definitely got one for take away as well. This little restaurant is all the way out in zone three, but my visit here was so magnificent, I will definitely be returning for some pasta and some delicious fresh baked cookies

This is a brilliant little spot for pizza and pasta just opposite Highgate tube. The food is great and the shared tables are a lot of fun. They also do a very good vegetarian breakfast, which, as a non-veggie myself, is high praise indeed.

Papa Del’s is a great little place. You share one of two really funky tables. They are open for lunch and for dinner. The lunch menu is really good value with a three course meal(salad, pizza or pasta, ice cream or freshly baked cookie) for under a tenner. The pizzas are think crust and there is a refreshing good selection of toppings. If Pizza’s not your thing they have pasta(my fave is the macaroni cheese) or the all day breakfast menu. The best of the breakfasts is the Papa’s breakfast with spicy beans(be warned).

Some of my favourite pizza in London! Nice crispy crust, fresh cheese and really good sauce. I usually go up here after 9pm during the week when they discount their pizzas to £3, and that’s including a couple of toppings. It’s a nice spot, too. I recommend it more on cold nights, because the open kitchen/brick oven means things get kind of hot in there. They are good about accommodating groups, but they have trouble accommodating other people when they have a large group. I went in once right after a group of 12, who monopolised the restaurant. My food didn’t come for 45 minutes, but that staff was really nice about everything, very apologetic, and brought us free garlic knots. There are many reasons I keep going back!

This became one of our favourite restaurants when we lived in the vacinity. Located across the road from the Highgate Tube Station, and near the 134, 143 and 263 bus stops, this restaurant is convenient to get to and a great place for a group meal. All the food is excellent, from the salads to the desserts. The pizza is impressive and all food is homemade and tasty. They serve Illy coffee and other fine beverages. Papa Del’s have take-away and delivery options too. The décor is charming. The tables are rough-hewn wood with matching benches. The staff is friendly and service fairly quick(as quick as can be with everything being cooked to order). A great place to eat!
