I ended up in Partridges at the recommendation of some friends who said it was a good place to pop in and grab some hard-to-find American snacks and foods, and boy were they right! Partridges, part organic/super food market, part heaven, boasts amazing options from a half dozen flavors of Pop-Tarts to York Peppermint Patties to Goldfish crackers by the box. It’s a small store, and packed full of amazing things, but the best part about it is the fact that it has a bit of home hidden away for those looking to find it. If you’re far from home like me, and looking for some things you didn’t even know you were missing, Partridges is the place to go.

Overpriced, dirty, run by the dimmest minds in London, and filled with abhorrent food I wonder how anyone aside from Americans could possibly rate this place well(and only then because they sell American food supplies, albeit at exorbitant prices). I’m assuming the previous reviewers are American students on a study-abroad program, and aside from microwaving ramen noodles have zero knowledge about food, cooking, cleanliness, customer service, pricing, and/or pretty much anything aside from Longchamp bags, yoga pants, and how to badly match chunky knee high leather boots with said pants(in those three categories they are truly peerless — no doubt a source of much national price). Their prepared food is impossibly gross, certainly too many days old, and weird. Pre-cooked schnitzel next to overcooked kofte, next to seafood salad, next to a plethora of other items which I can’t imagine anyone ever ordering. Their charcuterie is again, massively overpriced and of very poor quality(the deli counter at any Tesco embarrasses theirs), as is their meat selection. Even their milk is off-brand and usually very close to its sell by date. The tiled floor is disgustingly dirty, and don’t even consider looking in obscure corners — if you’re at all haunted by grime you’ll never sleep again. This place is essentially an off-license mugging off everyone that ever steps inside.(All that said I occasionally buy stuff there — I mean, everyone needs Kraft Macaroni and Cheese sometimes).

A charcuterie, fromagerie, deli, bakery, restaurant, green grocer and supermarket… what more could you want??? Partridges is an institution in the land of the Sloaney Pony. As the other reviews, I’m a yank who was looking for American treats I couldn’t find anywhere else, mostly baking aids like Crisco(veg fat that makes the best fried chicken) and Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate Chips! However, they have goods from all over the world including France, Germany, China, etc. Be warned that some things, especially if it’s been imported, can be expensive but most things are moderately priced. Also check out their website for home delivery. They also usually have a great market on Saturday.

Perfect in a pinch or for a quick bite, but you’re better off heading down the road to Waitrose for an entire grocery shopping. Nevertheless, Partridges is a nice shop, with a friendly staff(hard to believe, I know!) and a whole assortment of imported foods. The American section is particularly well equipped with everything from Oreos to marshmallow fluff, Skippy to Duncan Hines’ mixes, and pop to Pop Tarts. Be aware, however, that you will really pay for it. Resist the urge to mentally translate the £ to $. You don’t really want to know how much that taste of home is costing you! Some really lovely features: 1. If you go in the morning, it smells of the buttery goodness of in-store made croissants and other pastries. 2. In the afternoon, you can stop by the deli for either a ready to eat meal or a ready to cook one. They also make some the best sandwiches in the area. 3. The candy section. 4. The booze section. 5. The attractive French men.

I used to live around the corner from here and it was one of my absolute favorite places to go! They have a section of American food for the home-sick, though you’ll pay a premium price for Jif peanut butter(worth it) and fluff(more worth it), but sometimes you just need to pick up a few things to remind you of home! The deli counter is always amazing, the one in Chelsea has a lot more to offer, but this is a nice little stop for anyone that either needs a quick fix of Americana, or something to eat on the way to Hyde Park.

Pricey, but small and homely. I love their prepared foods — tomato, basil and mozzarella salad is great and so are their chicken skewers. They offer a range of American snack products too if you’re home-sick(goldfish, teddy-grahams, honey-maid graham crackers to name just some). They have the basics for groceries but a bit more expensive — still a lovely little store though.
