Veni de after, o a cenar. Solo o con amigos. Pero vení!

When you walk into this medium sized pub, there is a sign self proclaiming«world’s best fish and chips.» Well I’ve seen and tested similar claims for my favorite repast elsewhere in London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Boston, Vancouver, even Santa Monica. I’ll admit theses guys are in the running. Tender fresh fillets, with a shattering crisp crust, and toothsome chips. The peas unfortunately added little. With a reasonably priced pale ale and scads of new friends, it’s hard to fault Gloucester

The meal was pretty good and the staff was friendly and helpful until our wallet with all of money and credit cards were stolen by another patron during the middle of our meal. At that point the manager couldn’t be bothered with having the police come there because he was afraid that it wouldn’t present a good image to the other patrons instead having us walk back to our hotel to make the report. This place couldn’t pay me to eat there again!

The staff was friendly and there was a great atmosphere. The food was very good, but not spetacular. I was actually looking for another pub and got there by mistake, but it turned out ok! It’s good enough for a tourist.

We stumbled upon this pub as we were out and about trying to find pub food after our visit to Kensington Palace. We initially tried to go to the Queen’s Arms down the street but found it too small and too packed. We had a baby and a stroller with us, so we required somewhere a little more spacious. The fish & chips was good but I wish their cask ale selection was bigger. The service was fine, and the restaurant was clean. If I was a local, I might have more to nitpick about, but for a tourist, this pub was perfectly fine.

This was my first pub experience in London and it I was not totally impressed, nor disappointed. I’ve read other reviews concerning various gastropubs and suppose my expectations were tempered. The atmosphere was fun, not too loud or too quiet. The service was friendly and helpful. Once you find a table and determine what you want, you have to order at the bar, which was fine. Bring cash, cards are not accepted. I had the fish and chips, which were pretty good. My wife had the pot roast, which was a bit dry and bland. Not a bad first try at a London gastropub, but I’ll be looking to upgrade on my next pub journey.

It’s a pub, you’ll get what you expect. Good for American’s wanting to catch a(American) football game.

Nothing wrong, but nothing right, if you know what I mean, the Gloucester Arms does what it says on the tin. This place is a run of the mill, bog standard high street pub.

Hit this place for some coffee and a quick snack. Their City Sampler appetizer plate was generous with potatoes, nachos, onion rings, chicken wings, etc. None of it was amazing, but it all was good. The staff was very friendly and even stepped out on the street with me to point me to the nearest grocery after I asked advice on that.

This review is for this pub and the other Taylor Walker pub we went to. They have a disclaimer prominently displayed on their menu that they take food allergies seriously. That is, based on our experience, a load of crap. If you say you have an allergy, they look at you in bafflement or say they can’t explain the concept to their cook. In no way will you be accommodated. So, if you have any food sensitivities, do not go here.

I adored this small restaurant. My friend and I were walking around London and were excited to find the Gloucester section. We live in Gloucester in the US so we took several silly photos and simply had to eat a meal inside the Arms. The beer selection was fantastic and we ended up trying the meat pie platter. Wow and wow. Every variety tasted great. The prices were not bad at all based on other meals we had whilst in the city. The atmosphere inside was great. It may be geared toward tourists as others have told me, but I loved it so it worked on me! Had we been staying closer, I think we would have returned for another meal but we were far from our hotel in Stough and we needed to explore more of the city. I can see how it’d be a fantastic place to be a regular at and it looked like they had a great amount of variety in the beer and food menus. Yum!

I ate at Gloucester Arms during my first visit to London, and I’m happy to say that it gave me a quintessential and simple English pub experience. The classic fish and chips was just that: classic. Friends had chicken mushroom pie and a salad, both of which were great as well. I was very pleased with the selections of ciders, and the football spectators around us provided an enjoyable vibe to the experience. Overall, good food and good atmosphere.

I wish I could give this place a higher rating — it’s sentimental to me in that it’s one of the first places my now-fiancé and I went to nearly 5 years ago(and eventually became our local when we moved around the corner.) Gets crowded but generally with a lot of tourists, as there are several neighbouring hotels. The drinks are good and moderately priced. The food is mediocre; I haven’t been overly impressed with it but hey — you can’t win them all. Nice place to come if you’re passing by or live in the area, but not a place to travel out of the way to visit.

Great pub to watch a football match, plenty of televisions and all the usual beers on tap. Nothing special about this place, but it’s rather large, so it’s a good place to go with a group.

Ordinary but pleasant. Although that seems to cover everything I’ll go in to more detail anyway. The Gloucester Arms a very normal pub. All on one level, they serve food but I didn’t eat there and a they offer a standard selection of drinks — several lagers, a couple of ales, cider, wine etc. The décor isn’t lavish or outlandish but also not grubby or worn — one may describe it as ‘traditional’. It is clean however. The bar staff are pleasant and helpful though. Friendly service and when I was told they had run out of the particular flavour of crisps I had asked for the short-ish bar lady climbed all the way up the wall(with the use of the bar) to retrieve the ‘display packet’. That’s commitment. Hoorah for short-ish, helpful bar ladies everywhere! You’re a credit to your industry. If they had a Dart Board or a Pool Table I’d nominate the Gloucester Arms for ‘The Most Normal Pub in the Land Award 2010″. But they don’t. So I won’t. Toodles, Ian

My favorite watering hole during my days in London! It’s small, quiet and a great place to grab a pint. They have some pub food, too… Nothing fancy, but enough to fill the void so you can order a second pint. This place is right down the street from my old flat, so I was quite the regular.

A charming little pub that we stumbled upon our first night in London while starving. The staff was really friendly and even served us food despite the fact that they’d closed the kitchen already. The food wasn’t amazing, although the fish and chips were really good. The nachos weren’t spectacular, same goes for the other appetizers that we tried. The beer was good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was nice though, not too crowded, not too empty. Definitely welcoming. We sat next to a group of locals who immediately struck up conversation with us. An okay place overall, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there.

Acceptable little pub with nice real ales(Magik for Hallowe’en, Wolvers Ale and Spitfire) and OK food. The bar service for drinks was good-humoured and excellent, although I did have to ask to get a smaller head on my beer. The pub is cute, pleasantly atmospheric, and a fairly standard London Local. Its location, close enough to Gloucester Rd Tube, and Imperial, but with nearer, «better» pubs means that the folk here are pleasant, reasonably well to do(you can tell from the prices) and want to be hear. Quirky, would recommend it if you’re in the area, but not worth a special trip.

This place has the most mediocre food I’ve ever tasted. MEH. But since they didn’t short-change us like the Queens Arms did, we went here more often than not for a pint or two and it’s a nice place to sit. The bar is a decent size for the area, and it has its regulars which can make it half the fun. We started going here back when you could smoke inside and there was this one older guy that would be in the same table every single day with a cigar in his hand looking like he must be part of the pub, because if he left I’m sure a wall would collapse or something. Sure enough, even after the smoking ban, he’s outside, with his cigar, still making sure the place isn’t going out of business. Look, it’s not an epic pub, but if you live in the area, pop down.

Medium-sized pub so you have a seat to sit in and a table to place your drink on. Sometimes it’s nice to rest your feet instead of having to stand in a crowded place(i.e. the tube, or a small pub). This place also has some pub grub — but what I like most is the friendly staff and the easy-going atmosphere.
