I loved this place! My husband and I were wandering around canary wharf one sunny Saturday and we stumbled upon it. We had looked at it before online with a view to using the function room but had not actually been so when we found it we had to drop in. It’s a lovely quiet spot even though it’s so close to canary wharf, with an amazing view of the sunny docs. We grabbed a shandy and rested our bones, Sunny’s on! The décor is eclectic and cozy and what we saw of the function room, it was a good size with its own bar and balcony overlooking the docs. If I lived closer it would definitely be a lovely local!

This place is good for a roast. The pork was thick cut slices with decent crackling on the edges. Roast potatoes were nice and crispy. Yorkshire pudding was good. Could have done with a pot of thicker gravy to put on all of it. It comes with plenty of gravy on the plate but it was a bit thin for me. The meat was great though so I wasn’t complaining. I also tried the chicken which was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside as it should be. Don’t be put off by the building from the outside. It is relaxed and friendly on the inside and has a pool table upstairs and board games. In the summer you can sit out round the side and look out over the dock. Worth trying the berry crumble with ice cream good to top off a meal. Bit of an odd place but worth going to. Staff are friendly and beer selection is good.

A great little independent pub, with a good variety of ales on tap and quirky & relaxed interior. They do also have an outdoor sitting area but i believe this is one of the pubs best enjoyed if you sit inside. I mostly find myself going here on lazy afternoon to enjoy a cup of coffee, the stunning view and the extremely comfortable chairs. The only reason i am giving it 4 starts is because the room upstairs & toilets are not in a great shape.

So coming from the States I wanted a proper pub experience and some official fish and chips and this did not disappoint. Yes there are other choices nearby as I’m staying in the area, but I wanted a more British pub feel coming here. Food was good. Service is through the bar as you walk in as there is no table service. Football game on the TV, good beers on tap, and free wifi. Décor is exactly what I wanted, tables and chairs and a few soft seating sofas and chairs with tables. Atmosphere is locals talking about the game, people catching up, etc. they have a board game night on Mondays as well. I would definitely recommend to tourists and locals alike. Cheers!

This is a gem of a pub hidden away seemingly just out of reach of those not in the know. I accidentally stumbled across this pub one Saturday afternoon and I am very grateful I did, it has become one of my new haunts. The beer selection is surprisingly good, music is excellent, and chairs are extremely comfy. There is also a pool and Foosball table if you are so inclined. If you happen to be in the area and looking for something a little less corporate feeling than Canary Wharf make sure you stop in.

You’ve been to a couple riverside pubs in the area only to find them all teeming with yuppie-types, monopolising every last bit of glorious patio space on what is perhaps the last sunny day of a summer that’s done its best to cling on desperately to sunshine and mild temperatures. You just want to enjoy it, I know. I know. So when you can’t even get a space INSIDE one of the aforementioned riverside pubs, and you didn’t really want to eat oysters on your Sunday pub outing anyway — you rich a-holes — you head a little farther south. A little farther into the Isle of Dogs. Farther into the unknown. But then you can happen upon the Pepper Saint Ontiod, and it will be a happy day that you do. So the building appears to have been brought to life in Thatcherite Britain, like many of the buildings on the dreary Isle of Dogs, but its austere and utilitarian architecture belies the Pepper Saint’s idiosyncratic personality. The mismatched furnishings and accessories from various decades and eras creates a pub pastiche that endears rather than cloys. And on sunny days, you’ll find an armchair or two outside on the concourse overlooking the dock — along with some dedicated outdoor furniture of course. The food here is consistently inexpensive and invariably satisfying. Gastropub fare, this is not. But stop by for a light pub lunch or a proper Sunday roast, and you’re sure to leave satiated. Add to this a better-than-average variety of drinks on tap along with a wine menu and high-quality spirits alongside neighbourly good service behind the bar, and you can’t ask for much more in a pub. Oh, but /THERE’S MORE/you also get a pool table and table football upstairs(along with more comfortable furniture sprawling the impressive floor space) and a totally hip soundtrack rocking the indie disco with tracks from the Jackson 5 to Portishead to Two Door Cinema Club. I’d say this pub belongs in a place like fashionable East London rather than the Docklands, but then — if it were — I’d never want to go. You see, I’d probably never get a chance to sit on one of the Chesterfields, filled as they’d surely be with moustachioed 20-somethings wearing low-cut vests, leering at me smugly from their ever-present positions on them. So here’s to you, Pepper Saint. And stay just the way you are — malapropos in Millwall.

‘What’s with the music in here today, it’s so loud’ I remarked to my co-worker, he just looked at me blankly. I turned around and there was an actual person playing the saxophone in the corner. Well there you go. It’s jazzy Thursday apparently. I used to work in Canary Wharf, a less fun version of Metropolis( ). Then we were moved to South Quay, the Twilight Zone of Millwall. Home of the floating Chinese restaurant(no I will never Unilocal it… I’m too young to die) and the endless builder cafs and dodgy pubs. Also home to The Pepper Saint, this used to be our refuge from the corporate world. A cool bar that was maybe trying a little too hard with quirky furnishings, indie music and laid back staff. But a fish finger sandwich and chips for £4.50 — how can you say no? Life can let you down though and The Pepper Saint has sold its soul. in the strangest way. Instead of ordering at the bar, there’s fancy table service. To cover all customer bases they offer board games, football on the big screens, snooker, pub quizzes and now… jazzy Thursdays. There is nothing more awkward than watching a lone saxophone player perform in an empty pub to under ten patrons in the middle of the day. It felt surreal and strange and I just wanted to leave.
