I went here for a late Sunday lunch yesterday. I wanted chicken but they only have Turkey. The portions were massive and came with a side of cauliflower cheese. There was lots of meat and the turkey tasted good. The rest of it was just ok. The potatoes weren’t really crispy how I like them and the vegetables were limp and wilting. The red cabbage was quite nice. It was all just a bit too Aunt Bessie’s for my liking. There’s not a great atmosphere in here. We also ordered two lager shandies which were half filled with tonic water instead of lemonade, which was a big fail. There are so many other better places for a Sunday roast. I just wish they’d bring back the amazing Thai food that they used to serve before the place got refurbished.

This place is newly re-opened after a refurbishment. It was my first time here so I can’t compare the new Phoenix to the Phoenix of old. What I can do is comment on the new Phoenix and there are no complaints from me. There was a good selection of drinks, the place was clean and had a good feel to it. The upstairs has a big screen on which TV can be projected. While I liked this place there is not much around it, so I wouldn’t wander on in anytime soon, I’d have to have a reason to be here.

Pleasantly surprised by the recently opened Phoenix! Nicely refurbed bar in North Clapham /Stockwell area with a good selection of ale. They have just started up a new pub quiz on Monday evenings which is very entertaining and a nice way to start the week(from about 7.30pm)

A great place, Ican honestly say, especially the big garden and definitely the spot if you want to catch up with some friends.

Has reopened as The Phoenix, now more like a pub for all people. Real ale available.

Newly reopened so a little quiet for now. Nice bar though. See how things go.

This place burned down some months ago and now looks like it’s being done up again. Let’s hope they decide not to try so hard to be part of the Clapham jet set, but just be a decent local pub.

This pub is located 2 minutes from me house, however I’d rather walk up to Clapham High Street than settle for this place… Agree with others it tries hard and changed interior twice over past few years. Unfortunately did not help– would never attempt a visit again. Atmosphere, people(well from the time we visited!) and everything else is just not worth your time!

This bar is easy to find because of the astronaut on the roof — located about a 5 minute walk from Clapham North tube station. There is plenty of seating in the downstairs bar area. The bar also serves Thai food to eat in or takeaway. There is a small room upstairs with a private bar that can be rented out for functions of around 20 – 30 people. This is pretty good, although there isn’t much seating provided(1 sofa and 3 small stools) plus the bar doesn’t have coke on tap — they use bottles!

It was my misfortune to have entered this bar. Situated at the wrong part of Clapham Road, groups of hooded youths loitering nearby. The bar tries to give off good impressions, but fails miserably. The staff seem to come here to catch up with each others social life, as it took an age to get served, with only a few customers in the bar. The food was very average, but overall it has taught me one thing, never come back here.

I have been using the Circle Bar as my local for the last 9 months. The main reason was for the Thai menu, my wife is a great fan of Thai food. We would eat a least three times a week at the bar. However, we’ve noticed that they have changed the chef this last week or so. The food now has gone downhill very fast, the taste is bland, and not as enjoyable as before. We will now have to travel further up the Clapham Road for our Thai food.

A nice pub, that always suffers from being off the beaten track — it’s had three changes of management in five years. So, give it your patronage and support it! Nice big beer garden, and a nice room upstairs you can hire. Thai food menu, and big screens etc. A very Clapham pub, but off the Clapham High Street so a bit quieter
