I’ve always said that if when looking for a café that serves good food, then you need to look at the clientele. This necessary follows for the Piccolo Bar, as its frequented by a plethora of our London Cabbies, enough said! Well not quite, this place is small and compact and consists of two floors, my client who is a regular here wasn’t aware of the upper floor until my visit. But i believe that this is typical of most of their clientele, as they are mainly taking food on the run. They have a great selection of hot food and sandwiches all of which are reasonably priced considering its location.

Piccolo Bar was one of my favorite grub spots in London. It’s inexpensive, food is delicious and served quickly. The chicken curry and rice was delicious… and the portion was huge! I shared it with my daughter… and it lasted two meals for both of us. My husband’s sandwich was also very tasty. After eating at expensive pubs for most of our trip, it was nice to fine a place that we could pay for in pocket change that tasted good. I wish we’d found it earlier into our trip… because I would definitely eat there again.

Yum! Really simple, homey kind of place with a fairly wide selection of Italian dishes, deli type sandwiches, and jacket potatoes. I was a little disappointed when I realized they didn’t have any chicken escalope, but I managed just fine with a tasty bacon butty(with CRISPY bacon, I might add — I’m growing more accustomed to the British way of doing bacon, but this very deliciously reminded me of how we cook it back home). It was a warm sandwich, but not pressed in a panini maker, and was very, very good. Throw in some crisps and a drink, and my meal was still under four quid. Not too shabby. My friend and I hung out and ate our food in the downstairs dine-in area, which was pretty relaxed but for the TV showing what seemed to be exclusively commercials. The service was nice and friendly, especially considering how long I take to make up my mind over the simplest of lunch decisions. I’ll go back if I’m in the area.
