This site has seemed to have a curse on it for years, as all the new businesses that set up here seem to go bust with quite alarming frequency. Hopefully this won’t happen to The Prince Regent though as it is a lovely new pub. Not too gastro, it only serves pizzas, inexpensive and cooked in a proper wood oven, with a variety of great ingredient combinations on. The drinks are also relatively cheap and it has a nice atmosphere. In fact, it seems to have struck the perfect balance between pubs that are safe and pleasant because of the food connection, and the slightly cooler edge of a drink and a packet of peanuts type pub. The staff are pretty chilled, there’s space downstairs for when it’s packed and tables outside for summer and smokers. A great addition to the Liverpool Road.
