Queens Fish Bar

Maybe I got lucky or maybe it was because I was with Londoners or maybe they go all out when West Ham’s at home and they don’t want to piss off the fans! Short story: the chips were the right size, firm but not crispy. the cod was good and chewy and the batter was ample and perfectly crispy.
Now I’ve promised my girlfriend lunch here on our way to a match at Dagenham and my son is touting a place on Broadway Market, Hackney, where he just moved.
I’m betting Queen’s will win. Hope so

Having lived in the area for 18 months now and being a big chip shop chip fan I can’t believe I haven’t tried this place before! There are two fish and chip shops closer to our house, one of which (Ercan) was highly recommended to me by someone who used to live in the area and always goes there when he goes to West Ham matches.
We’ve not found the two chip shops to be too good. The chips are often undercooked at the one closest to us or too greasy and soggy at the other.
So, when we had leftovers planned for dinner last night from a pie we’d made, but we both worked late so didn’t want the hassle of boiling potatoes, I grabbed some chips from Queen’s as I was passing it on my way from Upton Park station.
They were the best chips we’ve had in quite a while. They weren’t too greasy, they were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We were really impressed. It was a good size portion (we shared a regular size between two of us as we had our pie too) and for £1.30 it was a good price too.
We’ll definitely be using this chip shop in the future!

Very very greasy. Literally dripping with the stuff. Won’t be going again in a hurry. Chicken left a bitter taste in my mouth, not sure what that was about and the chicken saveloy tasted soapy. Avoid if possible. Next time I’ll go to the bakery next door and get a healthy sandwich instead.

Fairly good service, have chips from here on an occasional basis

I was appetizing for a good bag of chips so I went here and purchased a bag of chips — I was very disappointed
chips were all very brown, hard and i think they were refried. I would recommend the Lighthouse on wanstead high street not so far away. they do chips that are tasty and are white.
