I have been five times now and in general it’s the best and only place to get a steak in earlsfield. I was going to give four stars, but on my last two visits our orders have been incorrect. Food was still good but I wanted a fillet and got a rib eye. The last time I wanted medium and got well done! The quality of the steak is exceptional! The choice of wines is good and reasonably priced. Service ok. Staff nice and friendly, but need to get the orders right, unless it’s the kitchen. All in all very good. I will certainly go again and if my order is right I will increase to a four star. Kx

this is a great neighbourhood restaurant that specialises in well priced steak and good wines. i came on a monday, and even then it was pretty busy, so make sure you book ahead if it’s a weekend, or you’re dining in a larger group(as we were). the service was great — efficient and unobtrusive. although my one small comment on it would be that i asked for a glass of white wine — the server asked if i wanted small or large, but didn’t ask me what type i wanted. i thought that quite odd for a wine bar — and i was ever so slightly miffed that on checking the bill he’d gone for the medium priced glass rather than the lowest house white. honestly, it didn’t break the bank, but i would have liked some options on the wine, and maybe some recommendations rather than just giving me what he wanted me to have. anyway, that is actually the only negative i had. the food was great — most of the table had steak, and it was very well cooked, and reasonably priced for the quality. i had a biltong, butternut squash and goats cheese salad and it was deeeeelicious. i haven’t had biltong in SO long, and it’s not something i would normally ever eat, buy or offer, but i was pretty intrigued, and the intrigue paid off!

Being from the land of Zimbabwe, I have been brought up eating meat and I would like to think that I know a good piece of meat from another and the way it is cooked makes the world of difference. I do like going out to different Steak restaurants to find a good Steak and I must say… Frye does to a great steak. It is all they do there, so fish lovers stay away :) They always offer a variety of different steaks, I am a Fillet lover and the chefs there for know how to cook a good steak. The steak is so good here, I brought my girlfriend here for our anniversary and she loved it. So my saying of the day… «Meat is meat and man must eat»

Fyre is a lovely local steakhouse which opened in 2011. I have the very reasonably priced flame-grilled rib eye and fillet strips for £9.95. You get plenty of good quality meat with a dressed green salad. Sides are another £3. They recommend the steak be served medium-rare, so I go along with that, and each time it’s been yummy — gorgeous flame-grilled taste, juicy and well seasoned. I mop up every last bit of the juices with my fries and fingers. Mmmmm mmmm. The restaurant is small, giving an intimate candlelit experience. Good wine list, service fine, smart décor, classy heavy steak knives. I’m a big fan, but I must be as picky as I am elsewhere, so in terms of improvements, I’d like to see some more non-steak and vegetarian items on the menu, as there’s very little to chose from, and I think the dessert menu needs some fruity items on it, as it’s all very rich creamy stuff, which isn’t what I fancy after a heavy meal, and I’m sure other customers would appreciate variety too.
