Came here for brunch on Sunday, as the queue at Jacks’ was unbelievable! As a South African(at heart, even if I have been in the UK for 14 years), I was excited to see boerewors, biltong and Dom Pedros on the menu, and my ‘full Roxie’ breakfast was not a disappointment — yummy boerewors! The presentation wasn’t worthy of a michelin star, but really what can you do with breakfast goods to pretty them up? It was hearty, well cooked(the scrambled eggs arrived slightly softer than I would normally prefer, but were actually really great!), and with a cuppa(breakfast tea) what more could you want on a hungover morning(ok ok, afternoon…)? Not a bad price, pretty good service(on the whole)… I’m just not convinced they know quite what they are trying to be. Maybe I’ll have to come back one evening to see it in it’s full glory.

Roxie is a growing London restaurant, this new one is their fourth and has a fantastic informal vibe; café seats and mood lighting. I had the house Merlot which was expensive(£7.15 for a large glass) but delicious and the feast for £15: surf and turf. The steak was very tender and pink. The bernaise and dipping jus were also good. I was let down by the chips which were soft and the prawns which didn’t have any taste! Overall a great meal and very good service.
