For the review which takes me to and through the 5000 points mark on Qype I thought it should be somewhere special, close to my heart, a blast from the past and more. Therefore I took a stroll down memory lane, or snooker star corridor as my mate used to call it and go inside the buzzer led door of the old Royal Surrey Snooker club in Morden. They say an ability to play snooker or pool is the sign of a misspent youth, well I used to play here for around eight hours a weekend, back when it was a 17 table smoky snooker joint. It has been transformed but kept some of its great touches. It still has two floors, the upstairs ones being full size tables for £6 per hour and the main floor hosting only two tables now at £7 per hour. The main bar area ia much larger now, but maintains its kitchen and bar with reasonably priced drinks and snacks like jacket potatoes and sandwiches. There is no also a bank of five or six computer with free internet access and six(I think) card tables for poker. For the Royal Surrey in Morden is now a snooker and poker hall. Co-owned by the legend that is Jimmy White, this is a club that is nothing more than a door on the street. Worth a visit inside and a membership if you like what you see.
