This restaurant is remarkably close to Great Dover Street apartments, a college dorm of KCL — maybe only a five minute walk. We got the kashmir lamb rogan, which was recommended to us, and a traditional chicken tikka masala. The Naan is hot and relatively thin and crispy. Overall a good deal. Would come back again.

Small but lovely authentic Indian restaurant. Located close to where we are staying and we noticed many people ordering take away. Food was delicious and wait staff was very friendly and helpful. We ate vegetarian options, of which there were many, and were very pleased. We’ll be back during our stay.

Phenomenally good. Prepared on the spot, super fresh, absolutely satisfying — and without the greasy weight that is the downfall of so many Indian joints. The flavors are bold and distinct, but with enough restraint to let you appreciate each on its own and in combination with the others. A real symphony of a meal — and what a value! Will definitely be returning, and often. A real find!

Lamb shank is the one of the best food provided there! I go to this restaurant at least once a week

The food at this place is ok, but beware… there are hidden costs with dining at this restaurant. Our waiter charged us extra per sauce PERPERSON. He also asked if we preferred rice or naan, which we assumed was included in our main dish and apparently wasn’t. Overall, spent an extra £8 more than we expected to. Needless to say, we were very surprised when our bill arrived!!!

Amazing service. Waiter was very courteous and responsive to our needs. I was a bit dehydrated and drank a lot of water. I don’t think my glass of water was ever empty for more than a minute. Food was also delicious, we tried a variety of the lamb dishes and loved them.

I really love eating here. It’s a tiny restaurant near Borough station and you can bring your own alcohol. I normally order a tapas selection, the Chloe Kosta Roti, Paneer Kofta, Chicken Malai, just lots of different dishes to share which makes it different from other Indians that I go to. The food is really fresh and authentic and the place feels homely and cosy. I would really recommend going here and ordering something different.

Great atmosphere and allows you to BYOB. Personally I thought the food was a little disappointing.

Didn’t even get the opportunity to come in here as when we called up we were verbally abused by the staff. Called everything under the sun, from a f*** face to a C U Next Tuesday. Never been spoken to like this. Can’t believe it. Will never, EVER go here

This is a very small(hole in the wall) restaurant. But thats totally fine as long as the food is good. For starters we had poppadums with delicious chutneys. We ordered the Hyderabadi Kali Mirch and Sindhi Murgh for entrée it was pretty good i must say. Hyderabadi kali mirch was a bit on the spicy side but full of flavour, sindhi murgh was creamy and delicious. To finish off our spicy dinner we had Tropical tutti frutti cocktail icecream for dessert which ended up as a pleasant palette cleanser. Service was good. So overall i would indeed recommend this place. Totally worth a try.

I went here while I was staying in London for a few weeks on business, and this place was literally downstairs from the apartment I was staying at. It’s a small hole-in-the-wall joint, but their lamb shank was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. In all fairness, I don’t think I’ve ever had a lamb shank at an Indian restaurant before so take this review with a grain of salt. In addition to the lamb shank, I also had the biryani, mushroom masala, and garlic naan. All of it tasted better than the stuff I typically get back in the states.

Sitting down for a group booking, I was pretty excited to try this place as one of the birthday boy’s friends said he had stopped looking for good nearby Indian food after he found this place. You know if a review starts with a subordinate clause, things can only go down hill. The staff were cheerful and chatty with me. It had been preciously arranged for a £20 a head buffet and it was fine if I ordered from a la carte since only a couple of buffet dishes were vegan out of 10 or so. We had obligatory poppadoms and the chutneys were pretty good actually(it better be as it ended up each one was pushing £2!). The staff knew I was dairy-free gave me extra mango chutney in lieu of raita(yay!), but still brought out creamy sides dishes as extras for me, and I’m pretty sure the dosa still had ghee in it(boo!). The food was ok. Nothing special. Nothing terrible though. A mere«it was good» happily wafted about the table. The bill came. It was £22pp(instead of £20). Well, this mistake was remedied by NOT going to the agreed price and ADDING an additional person onto the bill. Who, all of a sudden, they had prepared extra buffet food for and would not back down. Did I mention the 6 poppadoms they brought to share between 11 people was £10?! So, as other reviews have mentioned, DON’T go with groups. The only reason I didn’t give it one star because the food itself wasn’t terrible. Everything else was: service, price, toilets through kitchen, and getting some weird bites on my fingers while I was there(dirty napkins?).

I love this place. I’ve eaten here a few times and it never disappoints. The food is exceptional — delicate/subtle flavours and beautifully presented. It’s not your bog standard indian — it’s simply delicious ! A small place so do book(and don’t forget to bring your own … they don’t have a drinks licence — but there’s an supermarket around the corner so you don’t have to walk far to get your beer or wine).

The food was nice, although it was small portions. The staff didn’t seem that welcoming. To be honest then I don’t think the food was worth the price asking. The indian food served at ‘hare krishna’ restaurants around London is much nicer and cheaper. The eating experience was compared to them somewhat disappointing.

Great find! Off the beaten path a bit, but a convenient walk from the hotel. Reasonable prices for some good Indian food ranging the gamut from he generic to the exotic. Chicken tikka masala was dry and not terribly flavorful, but the daal made up for it. Lamb kabobs were incredibly juicy and moist. The server was friendly and helpful with suggestions.

Tucked away on Tabard St., Simply Indian has limited seating(including a few small tables outside) but quite an extensive menu. Along with typical Indian appetizers like samosas and papadums(served with 4 dips & a small chickpea mango salad), there is a wide selection of both vegetarian and meat curries, with various degrees of heat. If you’re a fan of naan bread, I highly recommend trying out the less traditional variations. They also make a mean mango lassi here. My only criticism is that service can be rather slow, even when it’s not busy so be patient. The food comes out quickly but the waiters tend to disappear out back. Like most indian restaurants in the UK, Simply Indian is BYOB though I’m not sure if there’s a corking fee.

Oh dear. The delivery driver didn’t speak English and got lost on the way to my well-known building. He called me and just said«Where to come» over and over and over again. Worse still, the food, while professionally and impressively packaged, was not appealing. The meat was a bit sketchy, and every single bite of naan had something gritty in it, like sand. I’ll give this one a pass. The search for good delivered Indian food in SE1 continues.
