Lovely little venue that was hired for a kids party, very accommodating with lovely food(we have the canapés and mini potatoes were the best) good selection of drink although not sure of costs. Staff were friendly and attentive keeping the place tidy and child friendly. It’s got a great view of Wandsworth park and is a lovely visit on a summers day. A tip it’s quite a walk from Clapham station !

Had a brunch celebration for cousin’s birthday at the Skylark café on Sunday. Really nice family friendly venue with lovely fresh grub, reasonably priced. The salmon and egg concoction was heaven on a plate! Can recommend.

Food — at the serving counter looks fresh. Coffee — very bitter with a slight aftertaste of vinegar Service — at the counter reasonable(where all the staff seem to be hovering or at the back hiding) Service — outside tables — and a book you’ll be waiting a while — at least 15 – 20 min while. They really do not like to take orders outside. Pleasantries? None — no friendly cheerful service here to be had. A matter of fact economic transaction approach: ’ you give money we hand over the food end of’ — no smiles no thank you. So either the establishment pays very little, hires its own relatives or the staff just do not give a damn. As it’s my local common I’ve been here more than 50 times over the course of three years — each time I go in the hope that it’s been taken over by another ‘new management’. No such luck, so I brace myself for indifferent service and did I mention ever so slooooow — seriously slow! In terms of brilliant reviews I’ve read — must be family/friends giving them or food critics who have informed skylark that they will be writing a review and thus the staff come good with delivery. Overall — if going to the common, it’s your only choice in the common, so brace yourself.

Pretentious café for the yummy mummy Nappy Valley set– coffee was just plain nasty(burnt beans), but cakes etc look nice. Coffee comment holds true and every visit so far; not my choice of venue, you understand. Last effort managed to be a bizarre double expresso that was both tepid on arrival and unpalatablely acrid. Touch on the pricey side(for a non-chain establishment) — two coffees, two juices, and a croissant coming to more than £10. Breakfast menu looks serviceabl; good selection of books and toys for kids.
