Came for a brunch as hotbox was full. Ordered the pulled pork eggs Benedict which were tasty. The hollandaise sauce was not my favorite as it did not taste homemade but the pork was tender. Ordered a Truman pale ale on the side. Nothing struck me as great or bad, mostly just a meal. Overalls, nothing special, and I would rather eat at less«glitzy» and chain esque places.

Called in after work after being mesmerized by the offer of £5 cocktails. Unfortunately that is probably about all they are worth. The City Iced Tea didn’t taste very boozy at all and was a little bit too sweet. The menu is not that extensive and I can’t really comment on much else. It was very quiet on a Monday and I’ve heard good things about the food but I wouldn’t rush to go back

Another Round Please! Very reasonable Happy Hour with good drinks. Highlights: Great tasting cocktails with ample quantity per drink, No cover, No line to get in and A huge bar with tons of space to hangout and sit. Can improve: Better music? Benchmark: Their Manhattan was one of better ones I have had in London. Any bar that makes good Manhattan with no line, no cover, space to move and a reasonable happy hour wins in my book. Bought my last round in June 2015 and will definitely return.

Last year I started having a stall at Spitalfields market once a month. 6 months on the 2nd Friday of the month I’m still trading and also stuffing my face with the takeaway offerings from Smiths. Breakfast is always the bacon roll with ketchup and a tea. This is my treat once I’ve set up my stall. I love bacon, it’s thick, juicy and cooked to perfection. Always the right amount of ketchup too. I have also sampled the burger and the pulled chicken sub for lunch, which are excellent too. Prices may be on the high side but it’s worth it for the quality ingredients. Will be carrying on with this monthly ritual!

«Shall we get up and do brunch?» «Yeah, why not. Maybe somewhere near Spitalfields or Brick Lane?» And so, we found ourselves looking for brunch at 2 in the afternoon on a Sunday. Most of the places we passed by were too busy to put us in a queue for a table, but Smiths — though busy — was able to seat us within 5 minutes of arrival. The food and drinks came within minutes of ordering, though the experience felt rushed and the service not ideal(our server didn’t write our orders down, and then had to come back to double check what we wanted because she couldn’t remember). My waffles with fried egg and bacon was delicious, despite the plate being not quite the right size to eat what was on it because, within the first couple bites, I accidentally knocked over the cup of maple syrup and soaked my waffle through. I’ll probably come back, but not on a day where I want a relaxing, leisurely experience.

Smiths of Spitalfields could be so much better… For example, the milkshakes could be bigger(though they are pretty tasty) and they could bring back the chocolate martini they used to do — that was awesome but it’s not on the menu anymore! The area has a lot of footfall at all times so Smiths is naturally pretty busy, weekends or weekdays. It just doesn’t really deserve to be that busy. It doesn’t really offer anything special and that’s a shame because the venue is nice and so are the staff, and there’s a great outdoor area(not directly outdoors but still covered by Spitalfields market) that they could make so much more use of! I’ll likely still go back though because it’s one of the better places around Spitalfields market and certainly a nicer place to stop than Crêpe Affair across the way!

Disappointing. I’d heard good things about Smiths but it didn’t meet my expectations. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, the fries were good(crispy and well seasoned) but the burger was really disappointing. It was cooked medium which I normally like, but in this particular incarnation it was just semi cold and greasy in the middle. To be fair the meat was juicy but it wasn’t a good flavour, fairly bland and the only taste I got was of undercooked beef. The chipotle mayo was a nice idea but a funny flavour combination. Probably wouldn’t hurry back here.

I’ve eaten at Smiths in Smithfield a number of times, however today I managed to grab breakfast(or more really brunch considering the time!) at Smiths in Spitalfield Market. Had the legendary Breakfast Number 2. As ever, it was flavoursome and really yummy. It really is a great way to set yourself up for the day, and isn’t badly priced! Service could have been better, but wasn’t awful!

2 ½ lbs of cote de boeuf, a very tasty fried buffalo mozzarella ball wrapped in parma ham and a cool Czech beer makes for a nice lunch on a Tuesday afternoon :)

As I commented to the two people who I was sitting with, I never come to Spitalfields Market with food in mind. It’s always, there for the market, hungry, guess I’ll go get good at one of these stalls! Maybe that’s why there’s been such a crazy turnaround at the space with Smith’s is now. They can’t seem to hold a restaurant in place in the space. Shame too, as it’s a pretty location. Giant windows out looking right onto the market. In this incarnation, Smith’s has almost made it feel like eating in a railroad station — dark red and black tiles on the wall, a giant movie theatre-esq black and white sign in the corner announcing specials and lots of staff in black t-shirts. I’ve never been to the original Smith’s but I know they are known for their meat. There was also a breakfast section on the back side of the menu which seemed like it was cooked all day. It might not be but there was nothing on the menu saying it stopped at a certain point. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was tasty. It was almost more like barbecued brisket and came on sourdough bread but I liked it all the same. My colleague’s didn’t enjoy her chicken club as much though which was too cold. And we got chips and onion rings, both which were only ok. Hot and crispy but flavorless. Sad. The service here was… eh. We had to flag them down to order and then flag then down again to get our bill. And we were never checked on or asked if we needed something like more water. But the food came out quickly so that was a win. They also have a basement section where events are held. Food ran about £8 for a sandwich and £3 for a side so not too bad at all. Looking for a very relaxed lunch spot(even if you’re like me and don’t think of the area for lunch), you could do worse.
