Place is very cozy, upscale and waitress was very friendly and helpful. She knew the menu and made wonderful suggestions. She was on point! Desserts looked fantastic food tested great definitely a must have. It is a little bit pricey but you definitely worth every euro. Five stars.

I was seated right away, received great service from moment I was seated. The falafel was a wonderful appetizer and the cod was excellent. Can’t wait to go back.

hidden gem that we stumbled upon. the seeing is a little tight, but the food is incredible, as is the friendly and attentive service. if I’m back in london, I’d go just for the Turkish coffee and Turkish delights.

Impeccable. Gorgeous venue, gorgeous food, gorgeous service. This is the jewel in the crown for us when in London, the quality of everything at Sofra is of a very high standard. We shared a Kunefe for desert which is a must have! Do yourself a favour and book a table by the window.

Excellent food. We are ate here two nights in a row. Great price a bit crowded but that’s ok.

Simple, well prepared, delicious food. Atmosphere was manic. We had no reservation so we sat in the basement dining room. Cramped, kind of loud. While that wasn’t much to my liking I can see that folks who like a festive and busy atmosphere flock to this place. Starters in 5 minutes, mains in 15 are guaranteed. This isn’t fine dining except for the food. Prices were just fine and some surprisingly low.

Impeccable service and great food. The fish is at a reduced price after 9pm but still delicious.

Such a shame, I love Sofra! I’ve been to a few of the restaurants around London and always had a good time. This one I went to with a couple of friends to comiserate losing one of them to the cheaper yet more depressing location of South Manchester. And I should know, that’s where I grew up! We had hummus, flatbreads, halloumi and spinach & feta parcels to start — very tasty, the halloumi had a touch of chilli to spice up the palette. I loved the parcels too, nice and crispy outside(ironically a touch too much cheese and not enough spinach). Then to the mains, lamb tagine for me and chargrilled lamb for the others. The Tagine was not what I expected, a nice sweetness from the apricots and raisins, but the lamb was on the bone, fatty and not in a tagine. The couscous was dry as well. The others had lamb that seemed ok. The main issue however was the service — rude, brisk and the waiters almost dropped the food on us whilst looking to seem like it was our fault. The restaurant downstairs was dirty as well, very small and cramped with a heater in the corner that basically roasted us all. Not the best Sofra by anyone’s standards

We went there to celebrate a special family occasion. It was the worst experience ever! The waiters threw everything on the table. ALMOSTSPILLED A HOTSOUPONMYLITTLEBOY’S HEAD! They kept dropping and breaking glasses. They were really really rude. And they were stressing everyone out! I do not recommend anyone to go there if they you are looking for quality service. Bad bad times.

Good spot. The food is very decent, the value OK. The place is somewhat small and fairly cozy. The service was pretty good, though I would guess this place imposes a No Smiling policy on its servers. A nice option for the area.

I love Sofra! They seated us without a reservation even though they were jam crowded! Excellent Greek food and a nice waitstaff. I had the lamb skewers and my boyfriend had a gyro type thing. Soda was expensive with no refills but hey! It’s London and in Mayfair no less! Try it! You’ll like it!

Delicious food! Pleasant dining room and staff. Prices are surprisingly inexpensive. The hummus is amazing and the bread is so fresh. I seriously enjoyed the mezze tasting platter which included many of the spreads. I think I’m going back tonight.

Tried Sofra for the 2nd time and our experience was not good. The waiter apparently was new and did not know the menu. The food brought to our table was not what we ordered. Food was OK, but not worth the hassle. Overall I think we will not be going back to Sofra.

Our UK partner swears by this place. He loves if there’s a line to get in, the staff pour you a free glass of wine while you wait for a table. Mains are pretty simple affairs. The mackerel was nothing to write home about. Great value and variety in the pre-theater menu. Good bread basket. I really liked the app sampler plate. The kunefe dessert was okay, like a baklava with a self-administered morphine drip. Add the gooey syrup to taste.

Consistently good, attentive service and tasty food. Lots of seafood and vegetarian options, too, and most of which are actually somewhat healthy — quite a find in London, where chips seem to come with everything. They have a set menu and some deals inside the menu as well, which makes it more reasonable, although it’s not too expensive to begin with. It would be a lot nicer to sit outside under the nice heat lamps if less people smoked, but not much can be done about that. They serve breakfast, too, which I still need to try!

There is more to Turkish cuisine than the doner kebab. We arrived at 7pm without a reservation. The wait was about an hour, so we walked off to find somewhere else. Except, walking away we noticed that all of the outside tables were empty, although they had heat lamps. So outside we sat. And despite being a December night, it wasn’t too cold at all. We shared a large plate of mezzes which were delicious(although grandma can make better). Do warn them if you don’t like corriander though. For mains we shared a kebab stew, and stuffed aubergine. The stuffed aubergine was a little meh… Very homogenous, and a little plain. If I were to eat a whole portion, I would have given up from boredom. The stew though… amazing! Perfectly spiced. Rice was a little greasy though. Get the kunife(sp?) for dessert. You won’t regret it.

This place was recommended in our London Cheap Eats guide(a must for any Londoner on a budget). And ya know, even though it only has a 3 star rating, I was pleasantly surprised. They have a large dinner menu AND a great priced theatre menu. Our service was awesome. Our food was great. I’d come back if it weren’t so out of the way. Luckily they have more than one location!

It was just OK. My friend and I are on a diet so the set menu with loads of deep fried options… was not an option. My friend had the stuffed vine leaves and tabbuleh salad, while I had the lentil soup and nut salad. At £15 per person a la carte(including a bottle of water to share) I guess it’s the usual fare for London, but I don’t think it’s good value and I doubt I’ll go back as Sofra used to be much better. We had to move to a different table as we were put next to the door(too draughty, it’s cold out there!), and the new table was squashed in a corner next to a little old lady singing to herself(bless her!). The food was nice, but I wouldn’t call this a pleasant dining experience so we left as soon as we cleaned our plates.

First of all – yay for this little enclave of restaurants and pubs at Shephard Street. There is a lot of good food and drink exploring to do. Unfortunately Sofra didn’t impress me. I did like the charming and sophisticated host who was very friendly and helpful. The setting here is a bit weird – there is a downstairs, an upstairs, outdoor seating, and then an odd small room where there are tables. We ended up in this odd small room that demonstrated that anywhere they could throw a table, they would and they did without any ambiance and next to the stairs to their downstairs kitchen. Delicious complementary hummus arrived with olives which was tasty. It was one of those menus with just so many things on it that it was overwhelming. I ordered the spicy monkfish in coconut cream sauce with ginger – I know, doesn’t it sound so good? But it just wasn’t. No spice, sauce was eh, and the fish was a bit chewy. My table had seabass and moussaka of which by the looks of their dishes I just wasn’t blown away. It is fine, but nothing extraordinary. Next time I think I’d stick to the mezze platter and get the authentic food – probably a better bet. But if I am in that area again, I have a hunch there are better options…

Another one of my favourite haunts that I use at lunchtimes at work and also in the evening as it is so good. Turkish food doesn’t need to mean queuing up at the kebab vans at twelve o’clock at night and asking for extra chilli sauce. This is authentique Turkish cuisine with an element of sophistication to it. Pop in for a quickie which consists of a drink, a main and as much bread as you like, which is ideal if you are at work or go in your own time for a leisurely and relaxing time with lots of exciting and exciting dishes to choose from. Fish, game, Scottish steak? and the more expected lamb dishes along with vegetarian and also some healthy options make this a place for all tastes. To be honest, I love it here and don’t go enough. Based in Mayfair it is only a hop, skip and a jump from Oxford st, Regent st, Bond st or Kensington and should be experienced. Good honest food, well priced with excellent Turkish hospitality.
