Sometimes when I want a pie and mash, this is where I visit. Pretty decent for the price and those mash potatoes I especially like, after all the walking in the shopping centre, there is a need to replenish the carbohydrate intake.

Square pie = squarely disappointed. A friend and I got slightly carried away shopping so needed some quick takeaway food to make our train. The food court was pretty busy on a Saturday lunchtime and though we both quite fancied Tortilla, so did about 50 other people waiting in the queue for it. We turned to Square Pie in the interests of speed as the queue was only 1-person long. That should’ve been a clue perhaps. I went for the Skinny Spinach, Goat’s Cheese and Sweet Potato pie because those are 3 of my favourite things and yeah, the word ‘skinny’ in front of anything just makes me feel good about myself even if it’s only saving me 10 calories off about 400. ‘Skinny’ here means the pastry only forms the lid of the pie rather than the base and walls too, thus it comes in a thin plastic mould to keep the filling in. I knew it wouldn’t be as ‘hearty’ without the full pastry case, but the lid was thin and mostly stuck to the mould. The filling didn’t fill the inside either. And there was no goat’s cheese. False advertising alert. On the plus side, the scoop of sweet potato mash was yum. Though portion control left much to be desired as mine was about twice the size of my mate’s(muhahahaa). It still wasn’t close to getting good value for money though — after such a glum-looking pie I was £6.50 poorer and still hungry. If I hadn’t been in such good company it would’ve been a glum-looking me too!

Situated in a typical shopping centre food court lay out. Pies are small but reasonable taste served with a selection of vegetables. Very over priced food.

As I was in urgent need of a filling hot meal in a short space of time whilst in Westfield, Square Pie ticked all the boxes. It had a variety of pies ready to be consumed, a nice range of sides to complement the pies and reasonably priced drinks when compared to the other food outlets. Furthermore the staff offered to heat up the pie and cook another one if the one you fancy is not on show. Good all-round service, a satisfying mash with gravy and all ready when you are.
