St-Barts Brewery seems pretty new, and is right next to Smithfields market — about 5min walk from both Farrigdon and Barbican Station.(And is right next to where some scenes from Quantum of Solace and Sherlock were filmed, if you wanted a small anecdote). It is positioned as a mix between a Gastro Pub and Brasserie, quite a nice decoration and atmosphere. I wanted to like this place. I went there with some colleagues for lunch last week, since it was around Christmas, and wanted a bit of a treat. We got there just after 12 and got out after 1pm. Did we order a 3 course meal for lunch? Nope, we ordered pie. Just. Pie. I’m a service snob, and I don’t understand waiting nearly an hour for a pub lunch. Yes, there was a group, but the group arrived after us. Yes, it was close to Christmas, but again, it doesn’t excuse it. So yeah, the pie was«okay» — I had a lamb pie, and it was actually just a lamb shank in a pot with some mash on it. Not what I would expect really. And a bit on the pricey side. Not impressed, it’s a shame, the place has potential.
