I though I was getting a quick snack but did I? Nonooo. How could I when the doughnuts are so delicious oh myyy They are fluffy and the ones I tried where so warm and practically melt in your mouth. But then, the creamy jam part comes and it is all a new flavour experience. Are they caloric? I don’t care. Let’s get fat together!

This is a great bakery shop. We went to the Maltby Street Market on a Sunday just prior to its opening to stop in for coffee and a quick donut. It was a great little shop. Coffee was well prepared, served with milk or cream and brown and white sugar cubes. We also enjoyed a donut filled with an apricot jam. We loved the outside of the donut, although we hoped it would be warm since we were there first thing when they opened. Additionally, although the donut was moist and cooked to perfection, we were surprised that the jam on the inside was more like a compote — thick bits of fruit, not like a regular jam at all. It was a lovely way to start the day. We have had the bacon sandwich at the other location which was lovely as well.

I was my first time trying out St John’s famous doughnuts and they are just as amazing as people say. I absolutely loved the rhubarb one, and the lemon curd was right behind it! I love this new space near Tower Bridge and can’t wait to go back for more nose-to-tail dining. When it comes to ordering, I would highly recommend that you use this sort-of-nonsense strategy of mine: «it sounds weird and horrible, so I’ll just get it» as using underrated cuts is truly St John’s strong suit. Pork tongue in caper/parsley dressing a personal favourite(who would have thought?) Staff very on point when it comes to wine too(first good rosé I’ve had in the UK!).
