Delicious Indian food served in a beautifully decorated dining room. Very attentive and knowledgeable staff helped us navigate through the dinner offerings. We opted for the«Famous dinner for two» with an additional cup of lentil soup to share. Could not finish the ample servings and we’re happy to have our unfinished meal packed for take away.

We’re visiting London from Seattle, another city with a large Indian expat community. I lack the experience to compare Star of Bombay with other London Indian restaurants but Star of Bombay would compare favorably to the top Indian restaurants back home. We tried the ‘Famous’ Dinner for two and it was wonderful –both the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Green Goan Chicken were outstanding. The Onion Bhajee was the perfect starter. The service was friendly and attentive — we’ll be back to sample more once we finish the food we had to takeaway due to the generous portions.

Star of Bombay was probably the worst experience we had in our elsewise wonderful trip to London. Food is average if not on the bad side(we had a prawn dishand they tasted old), service weird and set the end we were almost falling off the chairs seeing the bill. Arguing with the waiter turned out that they had put some more items there what we ordered… Something like this didn’t happen to me before, nowhere . Concluding: there are so many Indian places in London, better skip Star of Bombay!

There are many fantastic Indian Restaurants here in London, some of them even better than the food found in the restaurants in India, Star of Bombay was not one of them! Food was flat and not tasty at all.

Rolled in here last night to get my Tikka Masala fix. I’d never had it before in London and had to try some before departing given it’s a culinary fixture here. Due to logistics, I was limited to Notting Hill and gave Star of Bombay a whirl. Not sure what people are raving about. It’s average food with good service. I’d pass on this one if you’re seeking out exceptional Indian. If I lived in the neighborhood, I’d put this in the rotation given the value(portions relative to cost)

Garlic naan, lentils, butter chicken, and chicken tikka masala. It was a filling and satisfying meal. I liked the thickness of the lentils as some places make it a bit watery. The butter chicken was a bit on the sweet side but the chicken tikka masala sauce was really good. I wiped up all that sauce with the warm and cripsy garlic naan. Ambiance and service were fine.

The food was excellent and we loved this restaurant. We showed up with my 2 year old daughter for dinner. While they didn’t have a highchair, they were very accommodating and they treated us very well. The manager took a liking to my daughter and we had a fantastic meal. We especially liked the Green Goan Chicken. It was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. All the other food was fantastic and I very highly recommend this restaurant! Next time I’m in London, I will make sure to visit this restaurant again.

I love Indian food and was attracted to Star of Bombay by Unilocal reviews and the recommendation of my hotel. Sadly, it was the one disappointing meal during my 10 days in London. The mixed greens salad was withered with brown edges on every piece of Iceberg lettus. The chicken was acceptable, but less than excellent, and when I provided the waiter a coupon for 1BP off my drink(on a 25BP bill) he was most unhappy saying that the offer was only available for lunch(the coupon read lunch and until 7:30 p.m.). Sometimes these things do happen. Fortunately, one disappointing meal does not ruin a trip.

We had a very nice meal, reasonable prices, nice service, nice atmosphere. Had Chicken Tikka Marsala and a few other dishes and they were excellent. The proprietor and waiter both very nice and accommodating. Prices reasonable(for London). I recommend trying it out.

This is where I fell in love with Indian food. I had tried it a few times before here in San Francisco and was not impressed. But I got dragged here by our crew while on vacation and I had the tandoori shrimp and was converted instantly.
