Since my «local» curry house closed several years ago, I have been coming to this one, and it has now become my new«local.» The food is outstanding and they remember me every time I walk in the door. It is very clean, the food is fantastic– but make sure you know that if you request it hot– it will be HOT! The beer is cold, Poppadoms crisp and the food sizzling. Plus the staff are friendly and genuinely glad to see you.

Ordered rice, garlic naan, lime chicken and spicy beef curry. Chicken wasn’t spicy but beef had a mild kick to it that hits you in the teeth! Service was attentive, small cosy sitting. Restroom was clean.

Quite nice looking place, interior has been probably renovated not so long ago. £22 for poppadum, rice, naan and chicken tikka jalfrezi. And a large Cobra. All were clearly above the average, also size of the dish was about right. Here«hot» actually means something so jalfrezi certainly made my nose run. But that was in a good way! Anyway their«very hot» dishes are probably best left to the proper experts… Maybe 1⁄3 full around 7pm on Wednesday evening. Service was extremely fast and friendly, I have waited far longer in many«fast food» restaurants than here. Would I return? Yes sure, one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve visited in London though not quite perfect as such

One of the best Indian meals I have had and at a reasonable price! The salmon was succulent and tasty and the chicken tikka masala was delicious. The only negative was one of the waiters was a bit short on smiles.

Good food, nice place. Terrible music. But the ordered lamb curry turned out to be definetely beef. We ordered Lorient Special Chicken = 3 stars because too sweet. and Gosth Hindustani = 4 stars because of good taste but instead of lamb it was beef.

The best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Hands down. I was visiting from Memphis, and this restaurant was recommended to me, and was very close to where I was staying. I’m so glad I went! I ordered a Strongbow and the Chicken Jalfrezi. The beer was ice cold, refills on it and my water were offered at the perfect times, and the Jalfrezi was spicy and a huge portion. The garlic naan was also fantastic. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting London. It has reasonable prices, good portions, and amazing food. I felt very welcomed and satisfied. So I went back 3 times. And every time was just as good.

For the price, a little tired. Looks like it had better days, tired staff, food uninspired but adequate. Would give it 2.5 if they had halves

This restaurant has been around for 55 years. Can you imagine how cool that must have been, going for Indian food in Notting Hill 55 years ago? Edgy stuff. This is not just any Indian restaurant — this place is absolutely delicious. My favorites include their creamy Lorient chicken, dal misron, and their rotating specials. Every time we come back, the staff are incredibly friendly and we feel at home here. It strikes the right balance between homey-casual and a more dressy, formal atmosphere. On top of everything, the service feels personal and from the heart. That’s what makes it great for a range of occasions: dinner with work colleagues, casual dinner with friends, or a nice-but-not-fussy date. Gluten free notes: Most Indian food is naturally gluten free and they are happy to advise on what did and didn’t have gluten.

Somehow you can find real gems in your neighbourhood only by opening your eyes. I have walked past Durbar on many occasions but somehow never remembered the restaurant when in mood for an Indian meal. I am really glad I have finally had a chance to discover this well-established and popular place. The food was a good version of what we have come to expect from a local Tandoori restaurant with a mix of well-known favourites and house specials. While enjoying the compulsory(for me!) papadoms and pickes we decided to sample the Lorient Special Chicken and a selection of vegetarian side dishes. All were delicious, especially the chicken. What set Durbar aside from similar establishments is its atmosphere. The interior is recognisably Indian, but with a modern and more minimalist flair. I can’t remember the music in detail, but it was more relaxing and more imaginative than the piped Bollywood variety. The waiters were particularly attentive, and the place was packed even on a Sunday night. I won’t forget and definitely find my way to Hereford Road again soon.

We were enticed into this little restaurant by the amazing aromas wafting out onto the street. The food was equally delicious! They have a really nice range of different dishes, not just the normal curry house options. We got the tandoori platter starter. The lamb was tender and well flavoured. The mince was a bit dry, but the chicken was nice and moist. For mains we have the Lorient chicken, full of flavour and super tender. Would be happy to eat it anytime! The lamb xacuti was hot but had taste. The lamb just fell apart and the spices had time to marinate on your tongue before the heat kicked in. Would definitely stop by again to try out some new dishes.

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner one evening. I was quite impressed by the wide range of dishes they had here — from all sorts of regions in India and a number of very unique sounding house specialties. Heartened by all the awards the restaurant had won, it was hard to decide so we went with the recommended set menu which included bhindi bhajee(loved this okra — it was a nice dry fried version), Lorient Special Chicken(unfortunately this one was too dry — this was unusual because they specialized in Tandoori, and this was one of their house specialties!), another dish(I believe it was beef — but I unfortunately can’t remember! It was good though.), as well as some saffron rice(perfect) and naan(also great). The meal finished with some rassomalai — just the right consistency and sweetness! In addition, the pricing was extremely reasonable and the staff were very friendly — I plan on coming back and trying some of the other dishes.

I’m super excited to have discovered this Indian restaurant just off of Westbourne Grove. For the location, the prices are very reasonable, and the food was very good. We feasted on a very tasty dal with unusual and complex spices, a great aubergine jalfrezi, and some good(but not great) okra. The only disappointing dish was the vegetable kofta which was a bit bland. I would definitely come back and am delighted to have a new go-to Indian restaurant in this area.

In my view the best of the traditional style Indian restaurants. Why anyone would head to Khans and not come to the vastly superior Durbar is beyond me. Seriously, if you’re in the mood fora traditional style curry, you should head here. It’s very good.

Outstanding restaurant. There were four of us. We all enjoyed our food. The Beef Kali Mirch was delicious.
