I would highly recommend this place, very friendly service and great food, we were four in our party and got some tagine as well as cuscus and all of us enjoyed our meals. I would also highly recommend the started plate(mix of very many delicious things). We went on Monday and it was pretty quiet there. I made an attempt to go there on Saturday, but the place was very busy and wait time without reservation was over 30 min, so making a reservation in advance id highly advisable. When I am back in the area again, I will for sure pay them a visit.

We were a group of 15 people or so to go there. I could not have hoped for a better place to accomodate us all that well. We all opted for the set menu that consist of different starters(briouates, kefta, chicken skewers, and moroccan salads), different mains(chicken and lemon tajine, lamb and prunes tajine and vegetarian couscous) and sweets and tea. The price was reasonable for the quality of the food(the meat was perfect) and the service very good during the dinner but also beforhand while organising the gathering. As a result we were all very happy and would definitely go back there.

Moroccan Sahara is a traditional Moroccan restaurant(well I guess that was pretty obvious) located right off Westbourne Grove on Hereford Rd in Notting Hill. We had made a reservation but there would have been no need for that as there weren’t many people there and this was prime time Saturday night. Well maybe it was just a quiet night, I’m not sure. Because of the lack of customers and any kind of music the restaurant was deadly quiet — borderline awkward as we were a pretty loud punch of single girls ;) The menu consists of different kind traditional Moroccon dishes, most of them containing meat, but there were nice fish and vegetarian options too. We asked the waiter to recommend us some nice starters and we were really happy with what we got. In fact everything we had that evening was delicious and I will definitely be going again. Very important thing to know about this place though is that it is BYOB! So if you want to drink alcohol be sure to bring your own drinks because they don’t sell any at the restaurant!

Really good food, deathly quiet and empty though. Avoid if you dislike being starred at by your waiter /host, nice guy mind. Owner disappeared for about 15 minutes. Bring your own wine for free is awesome!!! I would say its good, just bring your own vibe !

After reading only positive reviews on this place, we decided to check it out since we live closeby. We were the only guests dining there on Sunday evening. It was a little awkward with the manager sitting in the back of the room as we all quietly waited for our food to arrive. I ordered the chicken tagine with roasted dates and almonds. It was delicious and very filling. It was accompanied by a side dish of couscous which was impressively fluffy and light. My husband had the lamb tagine with saffron, currants and cinnamon. It was savory as well. Both dishes were perfect for a quiet cold Sunday evening. Everything tastes fresh and homemade as if you were invited to your Morrocan friend’s parents house for dinner.

Visiting from the states I found the food very good. I had a verity of food including the stew with been one with potatoes and one with pumpkin and both very good! I opted for beef vs lamb but that was just my preference. Also the soup was really good and great with the bread. We also had the spicy olives with the hot sauce to dip the bread in… very good! The couscous, the fresh tomato and cucumber salad also very good.

As the embers of 2012 glow with the luster of year’s end, we – the last two diners – bask in the afterglow of a splendid meal. From the moment we were swiftly seated(without a reservation on new year’s eve) to the bittersweet aftertaste of cinnamon coffee, we enjoyed a candle-lit feast far from Trafalgar Square’s madding crowd. Let the young revelers drink and await their fireworks. We have supped on fresh fish brochettes and meltingly tender lamb tagine with caramelized pumpkin and pine nuts, washed down with perfectly chilled Moroccan rose. We could die happy now but we prefer to go on living in hopes that we’ll be able to dine here again. In other words, thumbs up on Moroccan Sahara!

The tagines are consistently piping hot(they come to the table still bubbling in their clay pots), the ingredients are consistently excellent and the service is consistently friendly and predictable. Consistency is the word of the day at this place — consistently a good experience. This is a great«local» — come here for the food, the low stress and the pleasant room. Not if you’re looking for a buzzing scene. And the harira soup is a light meal worth worth the trip all by itself.

This place is absolutely amazing. The food was so delicious and the service was very friendly. I highly recommend the sharing platter followed by one of the lamb or chicken dishes accompanied by a house wine. And don’t forget a dessert, take the one on top of the menu. We’ll be back!

Tasty Moroccan cuisine with some interesting offerings on the menu. I had the sweet chicken and cinnamon pie(the name escapes me), which was exotic to say the least. The owner was honest enough to tell me that despite the pie’s small size, it would fill me up and I wouldn’t need a side. He was right. I couldn’t finish it, and they wrapped up what was left for me to take home. There was plenty of tasty Moroccan wine on offer too, which is unusual. The atmosphere was laid-back, but the service very attentive and helpful. I’m looking forward to going back.

I’ll resist using the word«oasis» in this review, okay? But ducking-out from the Notting Hill Carnival into here made me feel like a war refugee– It was so calm and quiet! I think it may always seem that way, though; It’s small main room has enough ornamentation and hangings to break up sound, and the kitchen is safely at the other end of a dumbwaiter, I think. Our waitress noticed everything we might need without bugging us ever, all with blasted guys in bloodied head bandages bellowing right outside the door and costumed performers asking for the toilet. The tall, Moroccan owner kept a detached proprietary presence while, I don’t know, watching that an amp wasn’t thrown through his window. This is all to say that I’d imagine the place would be very pleasant on a typical day. THEFOOD: The waitress came right over with olives, oil, dip, and a brown bread. We both ordered a Casa Blanca beer and that was a cool relief coming off the crowds. The food came quickly served on nice painted plates and my girlfriend’s olive chicken tagine in a clay pot. It never occurred to me that couscous could be better than not-misprepared, but what they served here was distinctly fluffy and delicate. That was my main dish: skewered meats and sausages over couscous, with«seven original vegetables»(I didn’t learn what that meant, but figure they’re in stark contrast from the deadly sins) in a sauced bowl on the side. The meats were all tasty, perfectly proportioned, and mutually complimentary: A kebab-style seasoned chicken, a bit of lamb, and two merguez sausages. The vegetables were round cuts of mostly roots(carrot, yam) in a milky soup. I was very happy with it, the Grand Couscous or Couscous Deluxe or something– they have a whole section of couscouses. My girlfriend ordered better though: The Chicken Tagine with olives. It was lovely. When we ducked-in she couldn’t say what she thought of Moroccan food, but soon into this she named herself as a Moroccan food fan. The chicken was a whole new kind of tender– a young chicken, she said. This is a fork and knife place. I saw no one scooping with their hands. Maybe that makes it better for a first date. Oh!– The wine! The Moroccan wines are well marked outside the place and on the menu so I switched and ordered a glass of their house red with the main course. It was great– slightly raisiny like you’d imagine from a hotter climate. I wish to try the bottles on the wine list. Please plan to get one if you go, and remember what you got long enough to Unilocal it.
