Dim lit English pub that I would definitely come back to for a catch up drink with a friend.

One of my least favourite bars in London, although if you’re happy putting up with the noise, sharing, and the mirrors which line all the wall in the back(I don’t enjoy mirrors), then you can usually find a place to sit here. The drink selection is limited, although they do have a few craft /real ale options, however my main issue why I don’t like this place is as above, the noise and the mirrors(maybe the cause of the noise?). Rather than that, reasonably priced, although I have no idea if they do food. I think they might, however don’t quote me on that and I haven’t tried it!

I’ve walked past this place loads of times and always been beguiled by its strange name. I still have no idea where it comes from. We went on a Monday night before Bibimbap. It was much less busy than the nearby pedestrianly named Jon Snow. Inside it’s pretty standard pub décor. The beer selection was definitely aimed at lager boys as it seemed to have no cask ales. Bad move. Most pubs gave at least a couple. I had a pint of honeydew. Due to lack of cask beers I wont return.

This place is just another pub. You walk past and think: ‘Lets go for a pint!’ Do not expect anything more or less. Several kinds of beer, pub selection of wines and some spirits.

Nice, traditional pub in swankier SoHo. THere’s a main bar area plus a long back room full of groups. It seemed the food was popular as many were eating dinner.

This place is a pretty decent, but nothing particularly special, pub in Soho and worth heading to if you’re looking for a drink in the area. The building is gorgeous, the only shame being that it can be quite difficult to enjoy it as it gets so crazily crowded seemingly all evening, every evening. A bit of a recurring theme in my reviews, but the beer selection is OK but not particularly inspiring. There are all the usuals(Becks, Carlsberg etc) which for some reason that I simply can’t fathom people were contentedly drinking. Not really any decent ales, but there was a Honeydew on tap, which is at least vaguely interesting(and organic). The bar snacks were much better than what you had to drink them with.

We stumbled on this pub after eating elsewhere on a Saturday night. Beautiful atmosphere, nice and quiet, friendly staff, with a fantastic mix of 60’s rock, 70’s punk, and 80’s new wave music playing. It was just what we needed.

Came here with work for some end of the week boozing and it seemed pretty good. It was packed out with other local worky types and the crowd in there seemed pretty nice. Despite being unable to find a table to sit, or even a little area to stand, we stayed for a couple of hours getting in the way of the flow of traffic to and from the toilets.

I know that it can be wildy popular here on a Friday and Saturday night, with patrons spilling out onto the street with their choice of tipple, but there is something so glorious about this Soho institution. I met my friends here midweek for an after work jar or two as it is an easy central meeting point. Whilst nipping to the bar for another Star, an acquaintance tells me, amongst other pub trivia, that John Hurt was so smitten with the place in the 60s, he bought the apartment upstairs. Very upbeat and friendly bar staff(perhaps a little too friendly but then I wasn’t complaining) serve a good selection of beers on tap and a reasonable wine list. You can get a bowl of chips delivered to your table for £2, or if you’re hungrier go for a thai dish — they’re surprisingly affordable. I have to say though, that the mixed plate for 2 was a little scant for the £9 price tag.

The Sun &13 Cantons is one of my favourite bars in Soho. It is just off Golden Square, and has a bar and a narrow standing/seating area on one half of the floor, and a larger seating area in the other. The place can get a little packed on weekend nights but is generally not too hectic. The service is good, and there is a great beer selection, including Asahi on tap, there is a DJ who plays great music(a lot of good hip hop). There is also a restaurant serving Thai food open for lunch and dinner. The food is pretty standard, though good value.

A lovely london pub that is a treat compared to the other bars on beak street. The friendly staff and good music make this a good place for a lunchtime drink or for an evening out. It is quite small so it can tend to get crowded. They also sell tasty and well priced Thai food. I always make the effort to go there when I am town

A cross between a traditional english pub and a Thai restaurant, an odd combination you may think, but it seems to work. They have a variety of seating, dining tables to sofa’s and they do table service here like a restaurant. The Thai restaurant has speedy service and friendly staff. I would warn against the 2 chilli’s red thai curry, because even though that states it’s mild, it’s extremely hot. Plus if you don’t like lemon grass, don’t try the soup, which is also extremely spicy. Once you find something your tastebuds can cope with, it’s a nice place to eat.

A busy pub on weekday evenings, but a very cool place to hangout, especially outside on a summers evening(although they can get a little annoying telling you to keep on the pavement but this is the same everywhere in soho). The pub plays excellent music, and the drinks are decent prices. It’s right at the end of carnaby street so also a good option if you are looking for a drink after a long day shopping on Oxford Street. It’s not so busy on the weekends, so kind of loses it’s ‘buzz’ then, but is a good place to meet up with friends before heading on somewhere else.
