I went a few months back spontaneously when they tweeted they had room for one. I thought it was great. Too many pieces to name or remember exactly for that matter. It’s VERY hard to get a spot here so best to stay tuned with notifications on their twitter, but it is very good… but very expensive. But I loved it as it was the closest I had dined to when I went to Sushi Dai(one of the best in the world) in Tokyo Fish Market.

I think I died and went to sushi heaven(the best kind of heaven there is). Chef Toru Takahashi is a flavor genius, bringing the touch of his blowtorch, spices, and yuzu spritz to his beautifully presented sushi. The setting is intimate, with a counter seating of 7. You will get to know your table mates and the chef and his wife(who are a delight and incredibly fascinating) throughout the course of the 3 hour evening. That’s another thing, be prepared to sit there for a few hours, because Takahashi puts meticulous care in all of his servings without the hands of an apprentice. We ordered the £80 sushi and sashimi mix, which came with a platter of incredibly fresh sashimi starter, a platter of pieces of medium fatty toro, salmon, snow crab, shrimp, octopus in yuzu-mustard, three very tender pieces of mackerel, and then a whirlwhind of 11 more sushi pieces including scallop, tuna, sea bass, a hand roll, salmon roe, shrimp, tamago sponge cake. So worth the 200+ times I called when I made the reservation!

An unbelievable experience that I won’t forget any time soon. Truly amazing combination and balance on each individual item served, combined with a relaxed service that makes you feel so welcome and makes you forget you’re only a stones throw away from the City. It has unfortunately taken a year of trying on and off to get a reservation and would recommend you follow the restaurant on Twitter to get a cancellation if you were unsuccessful when trying their normal booking process. Also the cheaper menu of the Omakase is more than enough. If this could be twinned with another sushi restaurant in the world it would be Sushi Dai(Tokyo — Tsukiji), another unforgettable place.(Visit — 16/10/2014 Dinner)

There are only 7 seats in this tiny restaurant so getting a booking can be a little troublesome, but follow the instructions on their website about when to call and just keep redialing. It’s worth it! I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we had the £60 omakase and it was delicious. The chef prepares a selection of dishes one by one right in front of your eyes. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We tried various sakes to accompany our meal, following suggestions from the waitresses. A really special meal.

Such difficulty making the booking but it was worth it! Just make sure you can block out about 15 – 30 minutes to press redial over and over again. Had the small omakase(£60) and it was definitely enough food. A plate of various sashimi, about 4 – 5 nigiri(can’t remember), a sushi roll and a hand roll. Super fresh and everything just melts in your mouth! Service was impeccable, ensuring you were taken care of at every stage. It was fun to watch the chef prepare everything.

Sushi Tetsu has been on my list to visit since it opened. It must now be one of the hardest reservations to secure in London, in part because there are only 7 seats to try to secure, but more significantly because of the quality of the sushi on offer. The reservation lines open twice a month — patience is key! Expectations were therefore high. However, Sushi Tetsu more than delivered. Having pre-ordered the Omakase menu(chef’s choice) I embarked on a joyous journey of sashimi and sushi rolls. Quality of the fish and preparation was perfect for every course and it was great to be able to watch the chef preparing each course with such expertise at close quarters. Stand out dishes were the scallop sushi roll(lightly charred under the blow torch) and the fatty tuna(tasting like the essence of all things fishy). However, the menu changes according to the ingredients available so get on the ‘phone, secure that reservation and prepare yourself for 2 hours of pure pleasure.

I had high expectations for this 7 seater sushi joint since a fellow foodie friend has been raving about it. We finally got reservations and I was completely blown away! We ordered the omakase and let the chef do the rest. There was a moment where I almost cried when I tried the fatty tuna sushi, the beautiful balance between the fish and the rice, the textures melding in my mouth. It was a pricey experience but is definitely the best sushi I’ve had in London so far.

It took effort to get a seat and it was pricey, so it would not be my every day dining place. But I can not deny that the fish was fresh that they would almost melt in my mouth. Most memorable for me was the unsalted salmon roe, which is the best I have tasted in London.

Incomparable to Japan or some places in New York, but by far the best traditional sushi in London.

easily a match for the best sushi I’ve had in California, and comes a very very close second to what you get in Japan. of course it’s three times more expensive than Japan but it is a beautiful experience where they really look after you. only way to go is the omakase(set menu) and let the main man do his thing. everything was sublime, toro, salmon, mackerel, prawn, ikura all amazingly fresh, and presented perfectly. the pace of the dishes is exactly what you want. best sushi in London by a mile, sh*ts on nobu/roka/zuma.

I think this place is the best sushi bar in London — very very fresh fish, skilled chef, and good atmosphere. Since there is the only one chef, you cannot expect a quick lunch or dinner here. But that’s the thing– their sushi is so good! You should take your time and enjoy the most. You should try aburi fatty tuna — this is wonderful.

Without a doubt, the best sushi I have had in Europe — and the site of one of my finest meals in recent memory. Sushi Tetsu is just a 7 seat sushi counter. That’s it. Which means that you are granted an unprecedented level of interaction with Tetsu San(behind the counter) and his lovely wife(front of house). The omakase(75GBP) brought together an amazing selection of beautiful tastes and textures, including an appetizer, two plates of sashimi, mackerel, 10 pieces of nigiri, a spicy tuna cone, and omelette(to finish it all off). There were a number of excellent sake selections, each of which was paired with a different stage of our meal. As said above, this meal was phenomenal… and very intimate. I recommend Sushi Tetsu highly.

Tetsu San, you’re the Jiro of London. Owner by former Nobu chef and his wife, Tetsu has an excellent, can’t miss omakase in a zen like minimalist hole in the wall on Jerusalem passage. No bs, just sushi. Go elsewhere unless you’re a die hard, no tempura, ramen or distractions here.
