I came here for dinner last night because it’s near my hotel and I was exhausted. I was sorta in the mood for some nan bread too. I ordered from their pre/post theater menu — I had some fried onion ball as appetizer(only the sauce was good), chicken tikka masala w/potatoes(mehh!), rice and nan. All that plus dessert was 10.95. I wasn’t done with dinner yet and my waiter brought over my dessert, which I found very odd. I had no choice but to skip the rest of my meal so my ice cream doesn’t melt. The restaurant wasn’t packed and I don’t think it was their intention to rush me outta there… but service was definitely a bit off.

When looking for a restaurant with my father we ended up in front of this«award winning place». They opened the door before we had time to look at the menu and greated us(no pressure…) We walk in to a nice looking restaurant pretty much empty but decided to give it a try. When it was time to order, I took a prawn curry and my father took chicken tika massala as well as a steamed rice to share. He put more pressure for us to order more… My father said three times that we were going to order more if we were still hungry. After a very, very long wait, it finally came and it looked really good, looked… My prawn curry was close to tasteless, the prawns were overcooked and looked as if they were taken straight out of the freezer. The chicken was good but far from being incredible: I had tasted better from Marks and Spencers… As for the rice, I could have done the same myself. Since the portions weren’t huge, we ordered veggies wich were seriously tasteless… It was over all bad. They pressured us a LOT to come in, to order more, to consider more food, too have more drinks, not a great atmosphere at all. The service is very bad, and I could have been better food myself. Very disappointed, I really do not advice you to go!

Good lamb curry and nice Cobra beer. A bit pushy with the rice… Which would be included with the meal in the US. Peshwari naan was good, regular naan a bit rubbery. Colleague had a wonderful chicken korma.

Now I know exactly how Mary and Joseph and the soon to be Jesus felt on that fateful night night all those years ago. No room at the inn. Any of the inns! But in my case it was no room in the restaurant. Or looks of withering pity when I told them that no, we hadn’t booked a table, but yet I was starving and had no ability to wait the required 50 minutes at the bar to wait. It’s a table for two I wanted, not feeding of the five thousand. So after countless rejections from other restaurants I ended up in Tandoori Nights. It’s a typical looking Indian restaurant, all shades of pink and peach with bizarre miss-matched pictures of flowers and the like. The waiters were friendly enough, in a kind of «my English isn’t that great, but I’m really pleasant and efficient» way. The service is fast, which is just what my starving empty stomach needed. The food was nice, not amazing, but I did rate it. The Chicken Xacutti off the specials menu was tasty, and a Vegetable Thalil went down well. House white wine was decent too. 40squid for food and wine for two in central London is pretty reasonable, so happy times.

Heard great things about the curry. It never came. Ever. After an hour, we left. There was a party downstairs and the whole of the waitstaff was yukking it up and boozing with some Eastern Europeans rather than cooking /serving us. 55 minutes into our Taj Mahal of hungry limbo, we complained and the host radioed downstairs and said, yeah 15 more minutes. Really? I think fucking not. For the most curried city this side of Bombay, you need not waste your time.

First off I’d say the food would get another two stars if it was somewhere else but this is Indian in London. That being said the food didn’t live up to par. The chicken tikki masala was ok and it was in a sauce that was fairly sweet. That being said… probably wouldn’t go back next time in london

Tandoori Nights… award winning restaurant. I’m not sure exactly what that award was for but I don’t think it was for their food. I’m not saying it’s terrible food because it’s not terrible… it’s just not spectacular. I’ve had tastier Indian cuisine in Japan of all places. I went here with a friend who had never eaten Indian food before and I wished the food would have been a little better for her first experience. I do like this place for two reasons: They have Kingfisher beer which is a tasty light Indian beer and they have a special for the theater crowd. I believe it was something like 10 – 12 pounds for an appetizer, a main course from a select menu with rice, potatoes, and naan, and ice cream for dessert. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was just so-so. The potatoes were actually really flavorful and spicy though and I would have preferred garlic naan over plain, but that’s just my preference. A lot of food for the money but I doubt I will return the next time I’m in London.

We ate here fairly early on a Sunday evening and it really wasn’t very busy. The waiters were attentive and chatty without feeling intrusive. It’s probably not the cheapest Indian around but it certainly must be one of the tastiest. For £20 each you can get a main with rice, naan, drink and poppadoms. I had the Lamb Hindustani, which was really tasty and the lamb was incredibly tender. Other members of my party ordered slight alterations of dishes on the menu, which the staff were happy to experiment with, although this may be because we were the only people in there at the time. I’ll definitely be going back when I am next working in the area.

Went here under the 2 for 1 main meal offer using a Taste London card, but even without it, the food isn’t particularly expensive. You can also book online to get discounts, though I’m not sure how much you get. Most mains are about 8 pounds. Food-wise, there’s quite a lot of selection, though most of it are merely different meats in the same curry style. In any case, I liked the Lamb Hindustani, which is lamb marinated in spices and roasted almonds. But the rest of the dishes I tried here were merely average. I would say that this place can be good value if you use the discounts, and the food can be pretty okay. Also, make sure you don’t mind chatty waiters.
