I have been to Tas a few time over the years and I’ve felt each time that it offered good quality Turkish food. It is not too far down Borough High Street and it is large enough to have availability at busy times(we once rocked up on a Friday night). If you have a large group, I would recommend the meze. For the mains I would recommend the chicken shish kebab which is served with rice and salad. A good option for dinner in the Borough area.

Really good food. You can get set menu which gives you more options. The décor is white table clothes.

Very well cooked food and ingredients that taste mediterranean, espacially the olive oil and vegetables! You should absolutely try their Baklava, one of the best ever! The service is good and the place is clean!

We were 4 of us and it came to £120 for 3 courses and drinks which was quite expensive. I expected better starts and mains for that. The baklava was amazing, the food itself was not as appealing. I would go there again just for those baklavas. Soft and not sticky. We ordered a lamb shank, casseroles and a meat plate. We wanted to show ourselves that Turkish cuisine is not just grills of meat and kebabs. Unfortunately these guys seemed to do Tue meat grills the best. So summary : Kebabs and baklava. Soft heavenly baklava.

This is a Turkish restaurant with a lot of options on the menu. The ambience is mediocre. I think the ground floor is nicer than the basement where we were sitting. The staff in general was friendly. The food was ok but not great. Most of the starters we had were good(not great) though. The hummus was really really good. I really didn’t enjoy my main dish… kağit kebap which was disgusting. This is the main reason for I’ve given this place a poor rating. The dessert we ordered was baklava at that was yummy.

The lamb stew was delicious, not to chewy, you always feel that you’ve had a decent meal in Tas.

It was a nice restaurant, but me and a friend ended up with food poisoning(both had the Îskender) so we won’t be back.

We like Tas. The Sahan menu offers two courses for £11.95…bargain! Hummus or red lentil soup to start followed by chicken or lamb shish served with cous cous and tasty chilli sauce. House wine is tasty and you can pick up some Turkish delight as you leave. Especially good when you turn up on a Saturday at 4pm. Late lunch? Early dinner? Dunch? Linner? Nobody cares. Just good, simple food at a reasonable price.

A haven away from, but within walking distance of, the hustle and bustle of Borough Market, London Bridge. I’m torn about my visit here, the soup was cold and I found it expensive for what we actually received. The service was also a little off in that they took a long time to bring our drinks and there was a bit of a crossover of orders, so we received glasses, and a jug of water and there seemed to be a general lack of communication between the waiters. However the wine was good, it was a lovely restaurant, a nice setting that felt rather snug and we were lucky enough to come on a night when they were playing live music, so eating to these tranquil tones did make the experience more enjoyable. Tas is a chain, and I’ve been to others within London, always with a good experience which seemed much better value for money. This was a much quieter branch, and whilst this is good for conversation, it lacked the warmth, I would come to expect. Although the lentil soup was cold, it was nice and we ordered a few smaller meze plates. Maybe the key is to go for the main courses, but from experience I find these quite big and wanted a little selection to match our smaller than usual appetites. Not unpleasant, but I won’t be going out of my way to return in a hurry!

Tas was sweet. I went here alone looking for a sweet(as in cool!) vegetarian option. The food was so good and it was ready in like 4mins. I couldn’t believe it. Staff was friendly. It’s super close to the train stop there so that’s nice too!

Tas has a few branches(restaurants & cafes) throughout London but the one I like the best is on Borough High Street in Southwark, right near the London Bridge. It might seem funny to go to a Turkish restaurant in London when I just came from Vienna and all its Turkish establishments, but my London friends wanted Mediterranean food tonight … and we wanted to hit a couple of the cool pubs(some might say — hipster locales) in Southwark afterwards so I suggested Tas. Now I know Tas emphasizes the Anatolian cuisine of the central plateau of Turkey as opposed to the Mediterranean coastal foods but I didn’t think anyone would mind and they didn’t. Everybody liked it a lot. Tas has two levels so it usually has space for walk-in dining even though it can get quite crowded. We wound up downstairs. All the space is attractively decorated —(this is not a small Turkish take-away place!) The Meze here are excellent and you really can’t go wrong. I especially love the Pacanga — kinda like pastry dough stuffed with meats and cheese. The soups are also excellent … especially the Deniz Aşı … perfect for a cool evening outside. For the main course, I had the Kavurma and it is indeed a tasty and filling casserole. And while you’re there try out some Turkish Anatolian red wine. It’s not Bordeaux but it wasn’t bad and it went well with the food. There are other branches of Tas in London but if you’re heading out for an evening in Southwark(theatre, pubs, whatever), this is a very good place for a meal.

This is a sister restaurant of Havez in Canary Wharf. I came here with a friend for a drink and to share some meze dishes for our dinner. It is a reliable family of restaurants and you can be comfortable that the food is of a good standard. We chose a haphazard selection of dishes: prawn skewers in garlic sauce, mushrooms, falafel, lamb meatballs and squid. We had unlimited Turkish bread too, the type which is springy to touch and so easy to eat a lot of. It is perfect for mopping up the leftovers. My favourites were the lamb meatballs and the squid. The table was a bit too small for us. Once all of the food had arrived, we had to carefully make room for everything and I was mindful not to knock over my drink by accident. The restaurant is huge. When we walked in, I commented on the size of the floor area, and I hadn’t even realised that there was a downstairs area too. There were a lot of empty tables at the time we went, so it lessened the atmosphere, but it also meant that we got our dishes quite quickly.

Not impressed. The meat was a little overcooked and the overall feel was of a way too salty food for my taste. Maybe that’s the Turkish way of cooking but it’s not for me.

One of the many variations of the TAS restaurants in London with great atmosphere. The food is consistently good and the servers are quite attentive. Upon arrival you’re given some fantastic bread and a yogurt base with olive oil dipping sauce. I personally could fill up on just the bread. Their house wine isn’t too bad if you’re looking to save a few quid. This is my third TAS location experience and it was quite good.

The café is decently priced for a decent turkish meze/wraps. Yummy for pre-tate modern going. I always go there and have not even entered the london bridge posh restaurant branch. I personally adore the olive bread… it sort of folds into your mouth and is not at all too salty. The olives just bring a zing to the warming bread which is so delish its more of a pastry. The fresh orange juice cup sizes are also very generous, worth having on a low vitamin day. I’ve always gone on weekends where it’s all nice and relaxed, not full of office workers I guess

«I’m bringing you to my favorite restaurant,» said the boy I was on a date with as he held my hand and led me around the streets near Borough Market«it’s a surprise.» … and then we ended up at Tas, where one of my best friends had brought me merely two weeks before. It was a happy coincidence and proof, to me at least, that my date had good taste in food. Tas has a good selection, a friendly ambiance, and very tasty dishes. My first time there, I had the Elma Domassi, an interesting dish with rice, cream, and raisins baked into green apples. The concept and presentation were both amazing, but the execution was slightly off. However, on my second visit I had the Kofte, which was perfectly seasoned and served with yummy, fluffy couscous. I also got to stay for dessert, which is amazing. I highly recommend the homemde cinnamon ice cream and the Kayisi Tatlisi, apricots with cream, almond, and pistachio. The only thing I would advise against is the Renk Set Menu — I hosted a birthday party for about 20 people here on the set menu, but it seemed less than satisfactory. The variety of dishes provided wasn’t great, and the portions were pretty small. All in all, perhaps it’s just happy memories of fun birthday parties and lovely dates, but I’d give Tas the definite thumbs up.

I went to the deli during lunch time so it was a bit chaotic. But my friend I still managed to score a table. We ordered at the counter and I took the easy way out and chose a chicken wrap. I say the easy way because there were so many great looking choices and I really had no time to stand and think. But the wrap was awesome: full of hummus, chicken, and grilled veggies. Next time I might try to beat the lunch crowd so I can take my time and try to pick out some of the other foods they had to offer.

I went there for a quick lunch and was attracted by their £6.95 offer for lunch which includes starter, main and a dessert(a typical filo pastry with syrup and pistachio). I had a red lentil soup which was fairly good, but lacked a twist, quite bland — it was the first time I had it, so maybe i’m just not a fan of red lentils! For the main I had squid — and honestly this was the best squid I had in years — the batter was thin and tender — I suspect egg-based, and squid was cooked just right — not too chewy. Complimentary houmus, olives and bread were all delicious. I haven’t had a dessert, but had a coffee instead, which was a dissappointment — instant coffee which they decided to serve with a starter, but at least they agreed to swap dessert for a coffee! I couldn’t decide between 3 or 4 starts, I give it a 3, since music was a bit out-of-place, some rock back singing, I assumed, in Turkish. A more subtle Turkish melody would be more appropriate, as the décor was tasteful with good lighting and pleasant atmosphere. All in all, a nice experience. I will come back next time I can afford a long lunch!
