It’s my first day in London and after getting settled into my hotel room, I thought I’d take a walk about and check things out. Please know I was horribly jet lagged & tired I found myself going down Queensway Rd, and loved all the different shops and restaurants. The energy of all the people bustling by. I felt like the guy walking in the middle of a marathon. After deciding to pick up the pace, I came across Tesco. I walked in and thought, for my first night here, I’ll get something light to eat instead of going to a restaurant. I loved the contrast of ready made«grab and go» food in comparison to what we offer in the U.S. Here there were pâté sandwiches, salmon choices, a rather inexpensive array of great cheese, produce, and sundries. I discovered an upgraded European version of Walmart. I mean that as a compliment in comparison! My dinner tonight was going to be: roasted tomatoes in olive oil and mozzarella, nice flatbread with tomato basil, kalamata & green olives with a nice wheel of Camembert cheese. Of course some American Budweiser beer and a side of José Cuervo!(Don’t judge me — I’m not a fan of wine!) I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is on the go and need last minute items. :)

Prepare to wait in line for awhile for the one item on your list that you really need. Not a lot on offer here. Whilst cheap the experience here has a left a lot to be desired. For the basics cheap this may be your spot otherwise there are plenty of other options in the street.

In general I hate Tesco Expresses, and it brings me great joy to see other reviewers here sharing my scorn. These shops have far fewer products than their Metro counterparts and actually charge MORE for the ‘convenience’. This shop in particular is aggravating, as it is very small so you are constantly bumping into people. And, when the line at the cashier is more than three people, it begins winding into the food aisles, making the shopping experience that much more hellacious. I also don’t really like the type of person who shops here. You know, the person who can’t plan more than 30 minutes ahead, that comes here to buy milk and eggs and bread because they’re too goddamn lazy or stupid to walk the extra 100 yards down the street to the Tesco Metro. But, I suppose, it’s pretty helpful how all these know-nothings cram themselves into one little pain-in-the-ass shop — it keeps the Metro much more enjoyable. Lemmings, enjoy your Tesco Express.

Yes, definitely on the way to the Bayswater station if you’re in a hurry. However, that convenience is negated by their utter lack of staff at this place. I’ve never been in here and waited less than 5 – 10 minutes for help. Might as well take that time and head over to the big Tesco across the street from the mall a few blocks up the street. Better selection, way cheaper, and self-checkout available.

If I were a food product, this would be my hell. Seriously, this is probably the worst Tesco I’ve ever been in. I’d dread going to this one, but sometimes would just because it was«on the way.» Cramped and overcrowded, with grumpy customers bumping into each other. Permanently frowning staff that show no sign of emotional or communication. Stacks of lukewarm«refrigerated» foods in the aisles waiting to be placed on the shelves. Abandon your trolley and get out while you can.

This store is very small store. If you want to do a weekly shop, they most likely won’t sell much of what you want. They have a small bakery and fruit section, okay if you just want something for a snack, and decent size sandwich/pasta chilled section. Its good for grabbing something to eat on the go, but otherwise I never visit the store, as the there is a larger Tesco Metro at the bottom of Queensway, one in Notting Hill and a larger Sainsubury’s in Marble Arch. Regarding cheap eats, I would rather go to one of the cheap restaurants in Queensway than get a Tesco Sandwich. I guess its only really useful in the lunch hour. Every time I’ve been in here the queues have been very long, which also kind of defeats of quick food.
