The Abeville is the best pub I may ever have been to. It has the perfect mix between gastro pub and lovely country old mans pub. As you walk in there’s a standard local pub bar and TV to watch the game on. Then go through and you’ve got yourself a wonderfully cosy fire place and restaurant. I’ve only eaten a few times at the pub but can say extremely confidently that they have a great chef back there. The steak is just amazing and the Sunday roast is to die for! One of the best darned Sunday roasts I’ve ever had. Their truffle chips are inspired! The service is both friendly and so speedy! Customer service is top and the prices are reasonable. Long live the Abeville and may all pubs aim for their quality!

Not your typical local pub. It looks from the front as a normal local pub, but its more of a gastro pub, when you walk in, you might be confronted by the locals sat at the bar watching the sports, but I think that added to the charm of the place. If you go in and carry on walking through to get to the back, you’ll find lots of seating, a fire and usually a local dog just walking round. This is the perfect place for a quiet drink and bit of food, I didn’t try the food but the food I saw seemed very gastro-esq and lots of it.

Abbeville rd, located at the back side of Clapham offers nice little coffee shop, pubs, restaurants and independent stores, along side local amenities makes this quiet rd perfect spot for chilling out day or night. The Abbeville pub offers a great range of ales and beers, snacks and food. As a massive food and especially a sandwich fan, I have very high expectations which they managed to deliver. The food here is great. As a starter, we had a simple Foccachia bread, soft and airy with dip of olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. The main lunch was sandwiches, Abbeville club; grilled chicken and bacon on home made bread with aioli made it crunchy and soft, the bread was packed with flavours. The veggie club was Haloumi cheese with(not enough) grilled vegetables and home made pesto. Add on top of it, the sunny(at times) outside tables, makes the experience almost perfect. Highly recommend!

In a nation who’s experienced and still experiencing a rapid death of its notable pub culture on a daily basis, The Abbeville stands one of those local places that has managed to successfully transform itself from lager-lout hangout to a fine gentrified gastro-eatery with décor and menu to match. My fav place in Clapham. Never disapoints, only gets better with time. They’ve definitely found their groove. Bravo Chef!

Very pleasant bistro-type eatery also family friendly, particularly at weekends(not a huge surprise, given the location). I’ll admit to having only eaten here at weekends, so I’ve no idea what it’s like during the week. The menu tends towards the safe end of things(not necessarily a criticism, given the clientele); thing Eton Mess and things-with-custard. Somewhere that would be very good for taking your mum for Sunday lunch.

So disappointed! I was expecting a great place from all your reviews! One positive: the place is absolutely charming. I decide to go on a week day for lunch, although the restaurant was completely empty! I ordered a steak(18 pounds!!! This better be good) and my boyfriend a burger… And we just waited… Really really waited… 40 minutes for the food to be served when the restaurant is completely empty! The food finally arrived, nicely presented… MY boyfriend’s burger was absolutely delicious but my steak… Partly burned… Not good and the peppercorn sauce was to runny… The salad was good and the chips were missing salt… For this we paid 38 pounds… Outrageous to charge so much for random quality food!

Really good food and atmosphere, but a bit on the pricey side and service could use an improvement. –Chili prawns — Deeeelish! Pretty oil, but it’s chili oil and it’s awesome. –Mushrooms & haloumi — Really tasty but not all that filling. –Banoffee Pie — AWESOME!

I have always loved this place in all it’s incarnations — I am biased as I worked there many moons ago, but now I still go back. Dog friendly, good ales that change(hidden in fridges behind the bar) and a good spot to meet the locals. The food is worth the money, but if eating outside remember not to feed other peoples dogs or their partners.

Great gastropub. Nice menu with table service. Perfect mid-week venue for dinner with friends. Can get rammed during a football game so choose your visit wisely.

This is such a great gastropub, and I love the fact that it’s tucked away, so although it does get busy, it’s never full of the usual Clapham crowds. It has a lovely homely feel about it, attended by a mixture of drinkers and eaters. The food is wonderful, and the Chef is usually accomodating if you need to make changes. They have a wide selection of wines and sparkling wines, making it great for a night out. In fact, I’m off to celebrate my birthday there in a few week’s time, so it must be good!

Really really nice little pub hidden on a residential street in Clapham. Light and airy, lots of tasteful wood used on the interior. I like the fact the bar is on the left as you walk in, and you can carry on further inside after having stopped for a delicious pint of Landlord and find a seat. Very friendly atmosphere too — 2 or 3 people said hello to me as I waited at the bar!

I think this pub is the best on the Abbeville road. What’s that? It’s the only pub on the Abbeville road. Oh, well in that case… No, it’s actually really good as well as cornering the marker. Great wines, great beers and great foor, with a cool upstairs dining landing, and old wooden furniture, and also showing the sport but tastefully on a small telly. Oh, and try the burger, go on, it’s amazing.

This is a great little pub. It is surprisingly spacious yet feels intimate and cosy, with low ceilings and plenty of nooks and crannies. And a fire place! I don’t eat here often but from my experience so far it’s pretty good. Importantly, they have a few ales here, including Timothy Taylor. Maybe a tad pricey but we’re in the midst of Clapham bourgeoisie-land after all. The abbeville is great in the summer; there are plenty of chairs and tables crowding the pavement which gives it almost a continental feel. Thankfully, sitting outside here is very peaceful: although the occasional lorry can be seen cautiously making it’s way down Abbeville road, prams are the most common vehicle to encounter here. All in all, I could have done a lot worse for my local.

As a resident of Abbeville road and a naturally biased fan of the one of the best kept secrets in London, namely, the quaint Abbeville village I must promote the jewel of the crown, the Abbeville Gastropub. A great country style pub with really good food, from burgers to their famous Sunday Roast. The place is packed 7 nights a week, with really nice staff and a welcoming local atmosphere. Great place to watch the football and rugby too! And a great hide-away where I often tend to escape the everyday hustle and bustle of hectic London city life.
