The only reason I’m giving this a 4⁄5 is the price— otherwise I’d give it a 5(and would really like to put 4.5!) I love the ambiance — it’s gorgeous inside and there’s loads of space. The lighting is great. The beer selection is extensive and the food is good as well. Would be a lovely place to meet a date for drinks. If it were less expensive we would come all the time.

I’ll be honest — I don’t know how I feel about this place. I’ll start with the bad; — The service started off atrociously. I asked for a menu. That seemed difficult — something about a changeover(from breakfast to lunch perhaps?) was mentioned. I was then left with no indication as to whether I was supposed to order at the bar or from my table. I tried to ask some staff who actually ignored me. — Some of the table have sinks filled with earth and plants. Which is fine. A bit hipster but part of the décor so whatever. But I made the mistake of sitting at one and, halfway through my meal a gardener decided she wanted to replant the plants. Making my table shake horrendously while I was trying to eat. Could it not have waited say 15 minutes? — There is a 12.5% service charge added automatically. I don’t usually begrudge this. I did here, for obvious reasons. I still paid it. The good; — Once I actually got the attention of one of the staff members, he was really good. I think he saw my frustration and was trying to make up for it. It was appreciated. And the reason I did still pay the tip. — The choice of drinks is good. I had a lovely elderflower cider. On the pricier end of the scale at £5. — The food was delicious. I had the flank steak with dripping toast and smoked bone marrow butter. The steak was beautifully cooked and tender, with a lovely charred flavour that worked very well with the flavour of the toast. The menu didn’t say it came with fries but it did and they were delicious. — There was a dog. The presence of an animal always makes things better. In my opinion at least. I would recommend The Alice House despite the service issues I experienced — I like to think I was just unlucky. It did redeem itself with the food — it really was good. Only if you’re in the area though, don’t go out of your way for it.

I’m inclined to agree with Linzi on this one — teeming with toddlers. The place looks great and is an interesting space, but it’s hard to enjoy anything with kids running all around you(obviously stated by a non-parent). I know it’s great for these young parents to have a place to go out, but it’s not for me. The couches and board games are inviting, but I suppose if I return, I’ll try for after 8, when hopefully the kids are home in bed. Other than that, the waitresses were very nice, but not too organized. I might try it again, but I didn’t enjoy my first visit too much.

How do you like the word ‘teeming’? Now how do you like the words ‘teeming with babies’? Yep, that’s the Alice House, every time we’ve been in. Queen’s Park is like mecca for middle class-hipsters with babies, trying to remember when they were cool. Every time we have gone into this bar, it’s like a playpen of Kiwi people and their infants. I guess it’s their de-facto meeting place. *Shudder* Nevertheless, it’s a nice bar and I’m pretty sure I can’t get knocked up just by having a drink here. I hope… We’ve eaten here twice, a bit of a disappointing breakfast first and then a roast yesterday. We decided to share the chicken for two and it was HUGE. I’m not sure I expected an entire chicken to not be though. It came perfectly cooked with stuffing served in a dish with a head of roast garlic and two giant Yorkshire puds. On the side was a pile of delicious roasted potatoes and kale. I mainly focused on the stuffing and the kale. So delicious. My only issue was that the Yorkshires were quite dry, I had to pour a load of gravy on them to keep it edible. Where’s the fat? Where’s the grease? Love this roast. I’d eat it again right now. Just pour the gravy down my throat. If you are coming here, definitely get the chicken for two, good value for money right there!

A really cosy and cute breakfast spot with a new, innovative menu: get their carrot, ginger and yellow pepper juice and their rhubarb and hazelnut porridge. You won’t find stuff like this anywhere else! The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff are lovely — what else do you want?

Great place for sunday lunch. Food is very tasty, fresh and good quality. They also have a function room that you can rent for the day for £100.

This is our local & I love it. But what most people don’t know is that they do amazing brunch. There is nothing quite like sitting on the Chesterfield by the window with a coffee on a Saturday morning. I’m a bit of a coffee snob & the flat whites here really are the best in the area. There is a new brunch menu in town & this weekend I tried the smoked salmon pancakes which were AMAZEBALLS. Hubby had his usual bacon & eggs which never disappoints and our friends both had the baked egg muffins which they loved! Of course these guys are also great at hosting evening get togethers. We booked a little nook for my husband’s birthday dinner & they even let us bring a cake without charging cake age. Champions. A must visit if you’re in Queens Park, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The Alice House has become a bit of a regular hang out spot for my mates & I. There’s something about the cool décor — exposed brick walls, constellations of light bulbs decorating the ceiling and old wooden tables that makes us want to waste away hours just hanging out. Everything here is well presented, cocktails in jam jars — even in tea pots if you’d like to share with a few friends and the flavors are inventive and well executed. My favorite probably has to be the one made with jam, it tastes a lot better than it sounds! There is a bit of a wait on service; they aren’t the fastest with bringing out the food or letting you pay the bill, so I wouldn’t recommend this place for a quick dine and dash experience. It’s much better when you have time to be a bit lazy about it, hang out and enjoy their great selection of classic dishes with neat little twists

It must be a special occasion for me to go my way out of zone 1 for dinner. In fact it was just meeting a special friend for a causal conversation. Queen’s Park is not actually that far(7 tube stations from Baker Street). So why not just jump on the tube for a 10 minutes ride? For someone like me who live in the central, this new found area seems very suburban and quiet. The Alice House is right by the tube station, at least I will know my way home afterward. It is a gastropub with a very large and spacious sittings. Rustic décor and music that isn’t played too loud. I had the scotch egg and pork cheeks for my meal. I was actually surprised by the food, it was quite tasty better than I thought. Scotch egg was crispy and the yolk is till runny accompanied by a salad with mustard dressing. The pork cheeks very tender and flavoursome, perhaps the mash can be a bit smoother but overall I liked it. My friend had the soup, pigeon and lemon & lavender mess. He liked it too. Overall, the food is good and reasonably priced. Service was causal and friendly but can be more attentive. Definitely a chill out place for the locals if only I lived locally.

This place could be really good and has a decent selection of beers, it’s just far too expensive for what it is. Cans of Beavertown are £5, which works out as about £8.50 a pint and the food is average and overpriced. They also bizarrely have a DJ playing house music on a Sat night, as people sit around drinking. There are much better eating and drinking options in Queens Park, such as The Salusbury and Caldo.

Love this place. Great food and candlelit atmosphere. Highly recommended for a mid-week drink. The pan fried mackerel… delish!

It’s a pub in Kilburn which serves drinks like pubs do and it is a pub and it is in Kilburn and it serves drinks.

If a pub looks like so many other hipster pubs, sells the same stuff as so many hipster pubs, and has the same clientèle as so many other hipster pubs, is that a bad thing? Is it tired? Is it unoriginal? Probably a little. But if does what it does well, then I reckon it deserves credit for that. And on that basis I think the Alice House in Queens Park is worth stopping by for. Pretty much all the hipster boxes are ticked here: a reasonable selection of craft beers; jam jar cocktails(is this still a thing?); emphasis on locally-sourced produce(an ethical stand immediately outdone by the slew of old-skool Edison bulbs hanging from the ceiling boldly consuming energy at a rate the most extravagant LED bulbs could not hope to); expensive coffee; bouffant-sporting, check-shirt wearing staff; exposed brick walls; industrial steel beams; wooden floors and tables; old leather sofas; comfortable middle class punters. So far, so worthy of a silent guffaw. But after a few hours here, I couldn’t deny I was a happy customer. The pork belly roast I had was crispy and succulent, the Crate stout surprisingly rich and the service was particularly impressive: friendly, quick, helpful, whipping up a really nice surprise mocktail for my girlfriend and delivering it(and all the food) to the table for no charge. The flat white was disappointingly bitter and bereft of microfoam despite all the flash kit used to make it and confident-sounding blurb about the Coleman coffee at its heart. The beer however was good: I respectfully disagree with Grant T that beer ranges must include cask ale, as in my experience cask offerings can easily be uninteresting and even recoil-inducing, as Taylor Walker’s pubs all too often demonstrate. And the background music was a pleasing mix of indie and dance, a factor that always stokes disproportionate levels of happiness in me. Thus however unashamedly unoriginal, mainstream hipster the Alice House in Queen’s Park might be, there is substance behind its arty pretensions. I tip my(flat) cap to that.

This is my favourite local place to go for brunch. It’s very welcoming, and on Saturdays they even have a little vintage boutique. The art is pretty and the décor in general is nice. It’s definitely a place for yummy mummies but I enjoy anyway(I’m 24 and have no children). I’d say the lunch menu is better than their brunch menu, purely because it’s slightly more creative and better value for money. But last time I had brunch there I had the full Alice(bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast) and the sausage was clearly locally sourced and was delicious as was the butter! I never thought I’d be raving about butter but it was out of this world. It’s lovely and relaxed and I can easily spend a couple hours in there either with my friends or reading a book. Go check it out!

We came to this place for a birthday. Now I have a few old fashioned concepts but barely into my third decade don’t think they have lost relevance. Children in pubs are OK. A few well behaved ones at a time at least. Here there were, lacking the proper noun, hordes of prams and babies. Maybe 20 prams. Many more children. All were too small to carry drinks, their coordination inadequate. The food was good but expensive so for the price would have expected something more than scotch eggs or admittedly tasty looking burgers but this IS London so we persisted. My last comments on this are that it was good to see a vintage dress market in the pub but it was a bit tacked on to fulfill a maybe hipster quotient? Odd but extra services are always appreciated. Oh and there are televisions so if sport is your thing and you have a baby you need to show off and you can expense account your food then this is your place. If instead you want to sink tequilas and celebrate on a Saturday afternoon then expect dirty looks when questioning your mates parentage.

The food is generally good, not mind blowing, but great at the price point and great décor. The cocktails are fun and innovative so definitely worth a try than your usual pint. The music can be loud at times so you’ll have to speak up and maybe leave your sweet puppy home.

I’ve been here a few times now and each time I’ve had a great experience. The place has a cool vibe, with old wooden tables and chairs, and a section with couches. Out into the back room where it was decked out with old books, and board games on shelves along the walls. The food is typical English pub style, its very delicious, and reasonably priced for the area. They have a great cocktail menu, and plenty of wines and beers to choose from. If you are headed here on a Friday or Saturday night I recommend booking a table as it can get very busy in here. All in all its a great local

Not sure why everyone loves this place. Always takes ages to get served, beers on tap are pretty average. The dj plays the same set every weekend and there’s no dance floor even when the music is played at a level to dance to.

The Alice House follows the regular setup of this part of town by offering gastopub style food as well as an eclectic mix of top shelf spirits and cocktails. The staff here all know what they are doing in terms of being friendly, accommodating and efficient. The style and ambience of the Alice house follows typical Gastro pub formula by having wooden floors, arts and crafts style seating & tables and exposed brick work. I feel personally that the only let down to the atmosphere and surroundings were the fact that they felt it necessary to show an episode of Eastenders while we all dined. So on to the food, we had a mix of starters that we all shared. The chipolata and dip was a unanimous winner at my end of the table, as were the fishcakes and tartare sauce. However, my personal favourite was the large plate of raw vegetables and dip. This is not my normal carnivorous fare but I really did enjoy what they offered and due to the nature of their sourcing, I really could taste the vegetables that they offered. This sounds funny, but perhaps it was the fact that they were organic or particularly well sourced… I really got the flavour! In amongst the starters, I had Yorkshire pudding with pâté. It is probably the most rich dish I have ever eaten. I’d like to return to try it again. I’m just not sure if I can handle a whole portion! In between our starter all members of the table consumed our fair share of delicious cocktails. I think that almost all of those that were on offer this evening made their way to the table and all were magnificent. My personal favourite was the Earl Grey Martini, even if the tea leaves that were sprinkled on top got stuck in my teeth! Many of us chose to go for the steak as our main course. As ever, there is always a little steak envy in terms of who gets what steak and how it was cooked. Some of us had to endure a positively anorexic part of moo-flesh that was cooked on the more well done spectrum of things whereas others had a bountiful, almost gut-busting amount of bovine tissue that was cooked to pink perfection. I feel like all of us at the table agreed that the chips looked great but lacked taste and the prerequisite fluffy centre. And so, we all moved on to desert. Many of us went for the apple crumble which came with a delicious honeycomb ice cream accompaniment. Others went for the cheese board, which by all accounts was formidable. It was great for me to make a visit here — Alice House — You have a new regular!

I went here for a birthday party and didn’t even know it. While staying in the Paddington area I decided to play random tube roulette and simply jumped off at a random stop with no idea where I was going. This seemed to be a typical well-worn, working class neighborhood, so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this eatery/bar. The owners clearly spent a lot of time and money restoring the space, making it retro hip with beautiful tiles, old fixtures, lots of wood, glass and artsy lighting and stuff. You could plop this in Malibu and you wouldn’t know the difference(except for Mel Gibson stealing your drinks). I stopped in to get out of the rain and to have a beverage, and somehow got into a conversation with others there. It turns out they were having a birthday party there and invited me to join them. When a group of pretty ladies is asking you to hang out, it’s tough to say no. I tried some of the food, served farm-style, and it was excellent. Plus the staff were nice and quick to help. I’m now living in Central London but will be happy to venture back out to the Alice House for a meal or drinks… it’s well worth a little journey(as in travel and not the group). Don’t stop believin.
