The Arbiter changed to be The Barrow Boy somewhere around April 2010. I went to The Barrow Boy regularly while I was in London for work in July 2010. The place is great. The bartenders are awesome. There are at least 6 beers on tap. Their license has them open until ~1am instead of 11pm. The atmosphere is more laid back versus the Fulham Broadway pubs, great music, and the food is spectacular. Try the burger or the roasted chicken or whatever and you’ll love it. The regulars there were fun people too. They have an outdoor terrace upstairs with about 10 tables. If you look in you don’t see anyone, they’re most likely upstairs. I’m glad I found this pub on my 3 week visit from Los Angeles. Check it out!

This was the first bar I went to with my roommates when I moved to London in June 2008. They have an awesome pub quiz, and I won points for my team by blowing up and tying off 5 balloons the fastest… beating out two grown men. They also have a good drink selection — I had a small get-together for my 22nd birthday here, and I remember the drinks and drink specials being a cut above the curve. Notes on the bar itself: Great bohemian-chic design, very clean, obligingly let us use their restroom without making purchases on numerous occasions!

The Arbiter is a good pub to know about on North End Road. They serve a good selection of beers, and although I haven’t actually eaten a meal here, I have had their sticky toffee pudding and it was tasty. The crowd this place draws is sort of hit or miss, and that might relate to its somewhat awkward position. It’s one of my closest pubs, but I still refuse to claim is as my local because it just doesn’t do much for me.

Ok pub on the North End Road that is looking a bit tired these days and could do with some care and attention. Funky staff and a laid back atmosphere make this a great place to kick back and have a few beers and not have to think about anything to strenuous. Weekly changing food menu offering modern English ensures boredom doesn’t set in on the food front and the bar area never get’s too overcrowded. Upstairs they have a private function room which I have never seen but I am told it is a nice area for that party or event. Nothing really wrong here — as I said earlier, it could maybe do with a spruce up and some new seating.
