Note– this is a review for the hotel, not the bar/restaurant. We were headed down to london for a quick weekend so i could attend a meet and greet with the charity i was running the london marathon for. cue cheap flight booking and to the rescue with a cheap hotel deal. we paid £250 for two nights, which in central london is a steal! this place was ideally located a ten minute walk from liverpool street station and right near the gerkin building. easy to get round to any part of london on all underground lines and lots of restaurants nearby. on initial arrival i was a bit wary as the reception looked a bit tired, the bar was rowdy, and we were told the lift was broken and we’d need to walk up three flights of stairs to our room. just what a person training for a marathon wants to hear! but once we got up the flights of stairs(it wasn’t so bad to be honest) and into the actual hotel bit of the building i was really pleasantly surprised. the corridors were clean with what looked like newish carpet and fresh paint. our room was massive, super clean, nicely bright, with a big comfy bed and spacious bathroom. i think i’d read that the hotel had been refurbished recently and all the décor looked quite new and modern. it was a really lovely room for two nights in a great location for us and a steal with the price we got off . i’d definitely recommend the hotel, but possibly avoid the bar as that looked much less welcoming than the hotel rooms on offer.

I’m a totally foodie and went in with low expectations after the reviews I read, but it was fine! Nice clean pub. TVs to watch sports. The mushroom risotto was really good and I tried the brownie desert. It was amazing. You have to order at the bar(maybe because it was so busy) so wasn’t like normal service but it was just fine. I’d go back!

Not to my liking very old fashioned, didn’t find anything in the menu to my Liking, the rooms were very cold even with the heater on.

I’ve stayed here on several occasions, and often have friends stay here. The rooms are large(especially for London), the prices are reasonable, there’s a pub downstairs, and it’s right next to the City.

Popped in here during a rainstorm hoping for some comfort food and a quick drink. Turned out to be a good choice. We had oak smoked salmon and pickled samphire and triple cooked chips and side salad. Was very tasty and very good value. The coffee was good to. Above all, however, was how polite, friendly and attentive the staff were, allowing us lots of time for order and checking on us regularly. If your after a quick bite to eat from a very varied and interesting menu in the city and you have a medium to low budget, the Chamberlain is spot on!

Agree with the Happy Moose, food more expensive than your average and the bar area is large. Also, yes, excellent array of drinks choice, really nice pint of Seafarers Ale. Would say though, that even if not a traditional ‘snug’ atmosphere, the large bar area has a different feel to it, which is good in a different way jolly, quite noisy, more like a clubby hubbub, which I prefer, so just a matter of taste and preference. The food was excellent, real chips, burger twice as big as an alligator’s yawn, friendly staff and speedy service. Good menu choice. And, free WiFi if you need a handy stop off point for a quick on-line fix, there’s a handy power point by the long large bench table just behind the door to plug in your gadgets, oodles of room for your laptop, micro mouse, pint glass, nibbles and a lightning fast signal excellent! Recommended.

I hadn’t really realized that Fullers did hotels until I came here. On one hand this is good as the drinks choice and quality is better than you would generally expect of a hotel bar. On the other hand my favourite thing about hotel bars is that they are usually quiet and more intimate than regular bars. This one is massive and so not intimate by any stretch of the information. Unfortunately the fact that it is in a hotel means that they can charge a bit more than they otherwise might. Why is the food in Fullers pubs so expensive? It’s not really gastro quality. It looks very nice, very posh. The ale was good. I would probably pay it a visit if I was actually staying in the hotel, but if you were looking for somewhere to drink in the area, you could probably find better, unless you are a hardcore Fullers fan.
