Not a bad little greasy spoon type place, I generally come here post workout for a greasy protein hit! You can get a decent meal here for less than £4 and with multiple options you’ll be spoilt for choice. The quality is a little above what you’d expect for the price but certainly not gourmet. The first time I came here they made buy more as there is minium charge on match days which I found just annoying. Generally a a good clean friendly place with good value food.

I’ll admit it — I can be a bit of hipster snob. It’s true and I can’t deny it. That being said, I’ll glide straight past the majority of «builders cafes» or old-school caffs in my hood — I’m wary of the kind of grub they offer up. I’d been snobby and never considered eating at the Hope Workers’ until one very, very, very hungover Saturday a few weeks ago. My boyfriend convinced me try this place out for a £3.50 full-english on our way home from buying berocca(yes, really), and I have to say… I was impressed. It’s definitely at the nicer end of a «greasy spoon», it’s almost always busy with friendly locals. The décor is a bit cute and quirky on the inside, with old-school photos of London and little pieces of history. I shouldn’t have been so judgmental. I got a fry-up for only £3.50, and honestly, it wasn’t bad. I’ve had worse fry-ups for double or triple the price. I mean, It wasn’t mind-blowing, but it was a huge portion of a good ol’ full English for my hungover stomach at a very cheap price.

I always pop in for a full breakfast before Arsenal games(Number 2). The food is decent and filling and the perfect way to set yourself up for the inevitable disappointment of the match. The staff are the best thing about this place though — always friendly, chatty and able to recall your usual meal. Once, when I told them it was my Granddad’s birthday, they served him a pint with his breakfast — it made his day!

This café is a family run business which produces lovely food, the lasagna with chips is fantastic, and i can vouch for the chicken curry with rice. hmmmm the veggie pie with chips is also delicious. The standard brekkie, is of good value as well. The service and portion size is very good. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.

This is at the top end of greasy spoon and just across the road from my workplace, lucky me! The previous two reviews should have been 4 or 5 stars, come on guys…

I have visited here a few times now and I feel confident at giving Hope Workers Café a substantial 3 star. This is a stock-standard greasy spoon type menu– with a few differences–«bubble» and black pudding, chips with breakfasts. you get the drift. Things I like! 1) Total retro tables, chairs and mirrors– this place is old school! Love it! 2) Quick food: Egg bacon beans toast ready and served within record time! just a few minutes. Nice thick bacon. Yum. 3) staff really friendly, you really feel that you are supporting their business not some faceless conglomerate. Love the staff here. 4) Prices are super keen, have never spent more than a fiver here. Ticks the budget box! Veggie burger and chips, around the 3.50 mark. Bargain! 5) Apparently home-made desserts(including Jam roll and custard!) on offer, I have always been too full to try. Home made savoury pies including vegetarian pies also on offer. Will try these in due course! 6) Canned drinks have always been proper cold. i know this is not hard to manage but so many places fail dismally on this count. 7) portion control is on the generous side in my opinon! Negative: Wouldn’t be over ran by the beef burger, looked very much processed. I like the Hope workers café a lot.

This intriguingly named café is self-styled as a workers’ lunchtime hotspot. The food is average for a greasy spoon, but very well-priced(£3.40 for an English breakfast and decent coffee) and reaches you quickly. The interior is quite interesting with a large mirrored counter in front of the kitchen, retro framed adverts and a distinct lack of Formica — unusually for such an establishment all the furniture is wooden, with ornate-ish cast-iron table legs(unfortunately it’s not exactly quaint, but I appreciated the effort). It’s clearly a family enterprise, and the staff are quite friendly & gracious, so all things considered I would probably go back — but not every day like many of their customers appear to. By the way there’s a minimum charge of £1.50 between 12 and 2pm, but that’s unlikely to be an issue.
