The John Company

So the John Company is now sold, does anyone know what the plans are for it’s development?
As previous users commented it would have been an ideal gastro pub, or even semi-​decent place to have a drink/​meal would do, there is real demand for something decent in the area. I thought I would miss it but haven’t, it attracted an awful crowd.
I told the owner of a local successful bar to buy it but he made the valid point it is hard to shift the regulars on when you acquire a place like that.
Sadly it sowed it’s own demise.

I agree with local_sw2’s comments, I live round the corner but never go in as it’s so dodgy-​looking.
There are several rumours floating around about this pub: Apparently the owner wants about 500k for the place which is ridiculous. There is also alot of red tape involved which would make the new owners life very difficult. It’s also being sold for alternative use other than a pub/​restaurant, so it’s unlikely to be renovated, rather turned into flats. Like I say, just rumours but it sounds like a nightmare, and probably the reason why it has been for sale so long.
Such a shame as it is a golden opportunity for someone to turn it into a decent local/​gastro, there certainly would be no shortage of punters.
