It’s an old fashioned boozer, reasonably priced and decked out from a bygone era. They always have loads of fab(cheesy, questionable) tribute acts and it’s vitally important you swing by next time the Tom Jones act is there.

Decent pub, a bit dated and could do with a bit more light inside. But it has oodles of space, a friendly bar staff, and lots of TV for sports viewing. They have both UK Sky Sports and German Sky Sports — so you can catch those 3pm Premier League games there. Foodwise — they have Jamaican inspired menu, which includes jerk chicken among the standard British fare like fish and chips. Pretty cheap, at between £5 and £7 per main course. On Sundays — they have a Sunday roast menu. The beef was pretty good, but the sauce was way too salty. The rest of the dish(boiled veg, potatoes, yorkshire pudding) was so-so. Definitely not a gastropub. But a decent boozer, especially if you’re looking to catch some live sport on TV. The London Insider

This is a decent, friendly place. It looked better before they decided to varnish everything with a gloss finish during a phase of redecoration. However, before refurbishment it was a real smokers pub with a non-smoking section perilously close to the dart board, so in that sense a big improvement. They serve food, which is ok, and comes in big portions(fish and chips are particularly good) There’s a pub quiz mid-week which I never won but always enjoyed.

If you’re looking for an old fashioned, South London boozer, then why not visit one that serves Guinea Fowl? The Five Bells is bit more ‘spit and sawdust’ than gastropub, but you have to admire it’s effort. The décor is ‘rustic’, the drink selection is standard, but the pub has a certain charm that makes it very appealing to locals! Menu features classic pub fare, but also dishes from further afield — Quasadillas, guinea fowl, etc. They have a large ‘2 for £7′ menu including a delicious vegetarian lasagne(no skimping on the courgette!). Drinks are extra cold, fairly priced and the pub has big screen TV, pool tables and interactive gaming. Exceptionally friendly and talkative bar staff. Worth a trip if you’re in Streatham Hill — much more character than the soulless chain pubs that surround it. Note: nearer Streatham Hill station than Streatham.
