Sunday roast and sticky toffee pudding were excellent. As others have noted the service wasn’t the best(but not the worst). Lovely outdoor seating is first come first served. Nice wine list. Would recommend if you have a leisurely afternoon.

Terrible service. My father ordered a suckling pig on kimchee. Meat arrived cold, he had to order another dish. Waitress who turned out to be ‘in charge tonight’ was unbelievably rude, dish slammed down, wine delivered with her back turned. Not my idea of customer service.

An ‘Optional Service Charge’ is just that– OPTIONAL. To have some ditzy 25-year old French or Polish waitress who’s been on the job for what seemed like 2-days, insist ‘it’s impossible to remove’ in that haughty continental voice they put on is seriously annoying after an otherwise pleasant meal. Further, I’m not obliged to point out all the reasons why I don’t want to pay it — so to question customers who ask for it to be removed is infuriating. Don’t call it ‘optional’ or look up what ‘optional’ means in a dictionary. Otherwise man-up and call it what it is — an additional 12.5% charge or built-in gratuity.(Stand up to this madness Britain, you don’t want to go down the American tipping path. You already pay 20% VAT on your bill.) Sorry, this trend bugs me. And few places object when you ask for it to be removed. A tip should be a tip. A reward for exceptional service, not an underhanded way for employers to top up wages regardless of the quality of service. /Rant over. So the food. Really good. Had the Sunday roast dinner and it was fantastic. All the dishes were well done — especially like the mashed root veg and cabbage. Also had pumpkin soup with stilton and also very well made. Flavour of the soup was very well balanced — I would come back and just have soup next time I’m in here. As well, the head waitress(who saw that we had no drinks after sitting there for 15-min) was really great. She recommended some good beers. Overall a decent local pub with great food(5-stars). The service however is a bit spotty.

Overpriced… but yum yum yum! Get the sea bream with crab bisque. Holy crap, there is no better seafood dish in all of London. It is literally a fish submerged in crab juice. Just thinking about it now gets me salivating. It’s a bit of a fight for a table here, though… there’s no list, you just wait until a seat opens up.

Enjoyed a lovely Easter meal at the Ladbroke Arms, the staff were accommodating of our buggy and we enjoyed the comfortable seating area in a corner. We ordered starters, mains and desserts, and thoroughly enjoyed all courses. We have only been there for drinks in the past, and were pleasantly surprised at the standard of the food.

This place is awesome! Came here on a Sunday afternoon and sat at the communal table by the bar. The place was pretty empty, but apparently all the other tables were reserved… so I recommend making reservations. The Ladbroke filled up fast and had a bubbling vibe for a Sunday. The food was really good; beet salad, mussels, soup of the day… but the service is sloooooow, to the point where it’s ridiculous. Welcome to EVERY restaurant in London.

Cool little pub in Notting Hill. Tucked away on Ladbroke Rd, this place has seating inside and outside with a small room in the back as well. Due to the size of the backroom, it is hard for both guests and the waitresses to get in and out but its not a big issue. This place gets very busy on Friday nights and takes reservations. The menu online does not match the restaurant menu. We tried the roast chicken and a tart of sorts and the portions were quite large and rich. Everything tasted great and we were stuffed to the max after.

You can always trust the Ladbroke Arms to do decent meals. And kudos to them, they didn’t really put the price up during the recession and depression. I had an artichoke/potato/leek and brie gratin to start and chicken in bacon and girolles in white wine sauce for main. Dad had beet root salad and cooked oxtail for his meal. All were 8⁄10 and really large portion. I only managed one piece of my chicken(it came with a thigh and a full chicken leg) as my main came with 2 out of your 5 a days. I must say that the quality of ingredients seemed to have declined somewhat and my chicken was distinctively not chickeny enough. It would be interesting to see if they still sourced their meats from Lidgate.

Slow slow slow service. It seems only one person is allow to take your order. So had four different waiters promising to send someone to take our order and then when he arrived he went to the wrong table and took their order instead. Bad luck I know but he wasn’t very apologetic about the situation. Was almost 45 minutes from being seated to taking our food order. The staff are allowed to take drinks orders though. Food was above average but wasn’t amazing. Service could be a lot better. Is a shame really because it looks like this place could be amazing.

It’s very much a restaurant rather than a pub. For example you can’t order food at the bar, you have to find a table, and then wait for about 3 different people to bring bread, bring you a menu, and take your order. That said the food was excellent, and you certainly get enough to eat.

Despite cycling past the Ladbroke Arms twice a day for the last two years I have only recently gone in. And what a revelation it is. It’s a smart pub that feels more like a restaurant, with a very friendly feel. It seems to always be bursting with well-heeled regulars this is Notting Hill after all guffawing goodnaturedly. When I visited last night, the place was buzzing. I’m told by friends who know it well that it’s quite hard to get a table as it’s so popular. So I tried to book a table for two aheadwell, a few hours aheadof our dinner. I was told they were fully booked but to pitch up anyway and we’d probably get a table. This duly happened. The winelist seems generous for a pub and reasonable value. My friend and I ate chicken with a risotto which was exactly the right texture, garlicky and filling. We were charged £2.50 for bread and olives which seems a little excessive. Mind you, they were very nice bread and olives. All in all, a delicious discovery.

Now that’s what I’m talking about! A proper pub with nice people, great food and room for everyone — even the kids. And dogs! The perfect place to get weekend-hammered while enjoying great, modern food while the kids are napping. But be careful when you come for lunch. It’s the kind of place you want to stay for dinner too.

J’ai travaillé il y a longtemps dans ce pub; pour moi c’est la reference absolue. Bonne biere, bon vin et restauration de qualité, une ambiance geniale… certe un peu posh mais tellement authentique!

I love this place, It’s the cutest pub in London. Great crowd and pretty good food as well as good service. Best if you can sit outside but inside is very nice as well.

The photo of the Ladbroke does not do it justice — it looks dead, deserted and from the 60s. Must remember to put a new photo up. Also, the pub is at its best looks-wise when its plants are in full-bloom, nearly swallowing the little terrace in a mass of colour. The interior, especially in the evenings, is perfect — vibrantly lit, with a mess of paintings, olive bottles and mirrors. and just a touch of wear. The narrow corridors at the back of the pub house a recently redone small restaurant serving excellent food(the menu changes daily). Their reservation policy is a bit wonky as they only take bookings for a certain time slot(12 – 12:30 and 7 – 7:30)… This means you will likely end up waiting at the bar, but no worries — the tables turn over quickly(the seating is jam-packed back there except for one primo round table so perhaps people don’t like to linger). While the service can be brusque at times, they are generally very friendly and recognize familiar places.

A solid pub, nothing to special about this place but serves its purpose. You can get a decent pint and watch the sport.

Classy pub, with a very well-heeled crowd. It’s on Ladbroke Avenue, just off Ladbroke Grove, on a residential street that’s usually quiet(although since it’s across from the police station you get the odd eyeful to gawp at!). Nice interior, not too rustic nor too modern. There are some nice mirrors on the walls. Not very big, so you may need to jostle to get to the bar. A lot of dog owners seem to stop in here. The small raised middle room and long, narrow back room are more for dining with nicely set tables. I’m told the food is fabulous and it gets very busy at lunchtimes on weekends, though I’ve not tried it myself. There are some tables outside, though under renovation at the time of this writing. Possibly a bit too upper-middle class for me, though, at least on weekends. Lots of people with jumpers tied around their shoulders and BBC accents. EDIT: updated since I ate dinner there last night, which was fabulous. Food was delicious, interestingly prepared, and plentiful. Wine list is good but a bit on the pricey side. Still, an excellent meal.

The Ladbroke Arms is a perfect place to have a summer drink outside on the front patio, or inside during the colder months. The food is top notch, especially the mixed leaf. pumpkin seed & beet salad, as well as the fish dishes. The chocolate fondant desert(complete with chocolate sauce & vanilla ice cream) is the best one I have had in London(better than the one at Zuma). Service is very spotty, and when it gets busy(basically every night), they temporarily halt service from the kitchen. Very difficult to get a table to eat at, and sometimes the kitchen closes earlier than the 10pm closing time cause they frequently run out of food. Service could be friendlier, but its a great local with a gorgeous setting.

This is probably one of the best pubs in the w2/w11/w8 area in London. A small pub on a little street with a nice terrasse in front of it and serving good food, good wine and the usual draft beers. This is not a trendy place, but more of a local pub where the older British residents mix with the younger more international crowd. Always a lot of buzz, particularly on a sunny day where its hard to get a table. This is a good place to watch sport too(world cup in particular). And of course very safe… as it is opposite the police station.
