I came in first to see Michael, who did a fantastic job on my cut. Unfortunately, we seemed to get our wires completely crossed on colour and I left quite unhappy. I actually cried about the colour when I got home and I’ve never actually done that before. Embarrassing. Ouch. He attempted to correct it at a second visit but things were still unfortunately nowhere near what I had wanted. I spoke with Michelle, the fantastically attentive manager, throughout this and when the first correction failed, she finally put me in touch with Lottie, who has gotten me closer to my desired colour and whom I will be seeing from now on. Hopefully in another visit or two she’ll have my colour where I wanted it to be. Everyone at the salon went above and beyond to help me out throughout all this, and that’s incredibly rare, especially when something fails to meet your expectations. They’ve gone the extra step to make sure that I’m with a stylist who understands what I’d like out of my hair, and I feel like I’m in very good hands with both Lottie and Michelle in general. As for the salon itself, it’s a small footprint with an upstairs(for cutting and clipping) and a downstairs(for colour and washing), located just opposite the Co-Op on Berwick Street. The general feel is very unpretentious and relaxed, with a hip vibe, good energy, and cheerful staff. In terms of accessibility: the stairs down to the wash stations and colouring area are very steep and quite narrow, so if you have any mobility or balance issues, they really might not be for you. The wash station chairs are also a little awkward, and I wouldn’t recommend them if you have any neck or upper spine issues. Lighting throughout is exposed/bare fluorescent tubes. Tea, coffee, and sweet nibbles(usually brownies, but this time of year mini mince pies) as well as beer etc are complimentary and a really lovely touch. Prices are in line with the neighbourhood, and the products used are indie brands. So in essence, after a somewhat disastrous start, I now feel like I’ve actually found an excellent stylist to take care of me. I’ll update this review(hopefully with pictures) after my next visit in a couple months’ time.

Michael styled my hair after I had just walked out of a bad experience at another salon. He was so attentive and understanding and he made my hair look 100% better. The other salon had not even bothered to finish drying it. I should’ve taken a before and after photo because he did a great job!

I don’t like to change my hairdresser because I have high expectations and do not accept any compromises about how I look. Yet, sometimes the circumstances makes you act unexpected like the day I decided to trust this hair salon. The hairdresser were experienced and competent enough to propose a new hairstyle to me which I actually liked very much.

It is always difficult to find your hairdresser in a new city. After experimenting with a few salons in London and leaving unsatisfied, I discovered The Lounge in Soho. Conveniently located by Berwick Street market(which is how I first noticed it), The Lounge is a cool little salon adjacent to the sex shops of Walker’s Court. I made a booking with Ferdia through their seamless online reservation system, which I wish all salons offered. Their system allows you to select your hairdresser(or use the first available) and the service(s) you are after, choose the date you would like to come in, and then it shows you all available times that you can then instantly book. Simple and stress-relieving. The first time I came to see Ferdia, I had no clue what I wanted to do with my hair but knew that my partially grown bangs looked atrocious. Her styling and cutting knowledge became readily apparent as she cut my hair into a beautiful«lob» with sideswept bangs(this was early 2013) that accentuated my cheekbones. I was not expecting such a great cut, especially at such reasonable prices. The offer of complimentary coffee, tea, and freshly-delivered brownies improved an already enjoyable experience. Everyone on the staff is very friendly and professional. I have never had anything but a haircut here, but would trust them with anything based on the looks I have seen come out of the salon. Even though I no longer work in Soho, I will make a trip out there just to get my hair cut with Ferdia(okay, and maybe to squeeze in a bit of shopping while I’m at it).

I found this place on Qype when I needed a last minute haircut which I hadn’t had time to book. I arrived fairly early and, considering I had sent no notice, was sorted very promptly. Very friendly staff and a good range of complimentary drinks available. The stylist was very good at working out/helping me get across what I wanted(which has been a problem elsewhere) and I was very happy with the end result. The only place where the experience fell down slightly was the chat but then I wasn’t at my prime and in the end it’s the cut you have to live with once you leave. Would certainly go back although it hasn’t quite usurped my favourites.

So I just popped in here for a cheeky fringe trim with my favourite stylist Liga. Distinctive and full of sass, she whipped my bangs into a desired blunt shape in 12 minutes flat. A consummate professional, Liga and the team bring a spot of class to the back streets of Berwick. Easily the most grass roots, reasonably priced salon in Salon. Booyah!

I wanted a change of scene, so I chose here after looking at the reviews. Shop itself is nice but haircut just didnt cut the mustard — I think it is much better for men than women. I got a bowlcut and will be going elsewhere to fix the mess.

I’ve gotten several really great haircuts here. They’re pretty decently priced, especially for London, and I’ve never walked out disappointed. My hairdresser, whose name I have forgotten yet again but is a lovely scottish guy, is amazing and really works with my curly mess of locks. He also always takes the time to blow out my seriously long hair and do ‘adjustments’ on it when its dry. Plus, they do offer a mid-week discount for students(I think of 10%), which is a pretty nice bonus.

I searched for a small, quaint, quality salon with a local feel while visiting London recently and this seem to fit my personality. Very comfy, and accommodating. It has been a few weeks and I hate to admit it, but I have forgotten the name of the lovely woman who did an amazing job on my hair. She understood what I was explaining and gave me a refreshing modern look with some subtle yet bright blond highlights. I have had my hair cut since and certainly missing the cut she gave me.

I love this salon. I’ve been going here regularly since November, and have never once been disappointed. I’m considering getting my hair coloured and can’t think of a place I’d trust more. Not only do they provide great haircuts, but the conditioning treatments are truly luxurious. They also have massage chairs, complimentary drinks(love that glass of wine!) and cookies, and a surprisingly good stack of magazines(very important). The only drawback is the price, which is why I may be waiting some time to get my hair coloured

This has become my regular place over the last year. Located in the middle of Soho it seems to have a really eclectic customer base. It feels trendy and fashionable yet at the same time friendly and relaxed. I don’t feel that I need to be one of the glamorous people to have my hair done here, but I think I am mixing with those who are! After a brief friendly consultation, you go downstairs for the hair wash, which includes head massage, and if you want it, the massage chair. All the while you gaze up at great but bizarre mug shots. Back upstairs the for the main event — whilst listening to great music from their featured CDs rotating on a shelf system. Obviously all sorts of refreshments /coffee are offered. Every time, my hair has been really well cut and they have managed, gradually, to get some style back into this ** aged man!

Great for guys hair as well. Like a previous reviewer, I found this via a Google search and wasn’t disappointed. You’re given a free drink when you enter and the price includes a head massage and a spot on one of their vibrating massage chairs whilst you’re having your hair washed. Little details, like the black and white mugshots of criminals on the ceiling round it off nicely. I’ve had a couple of stylists, who have all been great, and have never had a problem getting an appointment at short notice(the day before, even).

I’ve been here twice. I found it on google following the need to make a last minute appointment and my previous hairdresser not being able to take me. I thought my old hairdressers was nice but I wasn’t totally fulfilled, it wasn’t until I visited the lounge when I realised this is what I needed — a salon with energy and I leave feeling special. The first time I got the owner which was purely my chance as he’d had a cancellation, I guess I was honoured as its difficult to get an appointment with him! The cut was great, atmosphere was professional, salon environment was down to earth and not trying to be too cool like most places in soho. They offer a free fringe cut following your haircut which I think is a great idea to avoid you being tempted to try it yourself. On my second visit my stylist was passionate, serious about what she was doing but also friendly too, not too chatty, which is perfect as this can be annoying. It was quite pricy, I think £50 for cut and blow dry but you have the confidence your stylist has at least 7 years experience, so no danger of an inexperienced nervous stylist eager to chop off all your hair! I love the old timeout covers on the ceiling which you can stare at while you get you hair washed, might steal that idea for my flat! I will be revisiting the lounge when I’m next due for a chop.

Wonderful salon, a real find in the back streets of grubby Soho! Great atmosphere, friendly stylists and nice extras(free wine!). Loved the new look that was suggested to me and went for the whole lot, colour and cut. Was not dissapointed, fresh and fashionable without being too edgy. I will be back for sure:) Oh, you can aslo book online and view thier stylists work on their website!
