Love the interior of the bar — it’s cosy and there is the space by the bar to socialize but little nooks for a more relaxed meal. Their drinks menu is wide and they have pretty standard fare for their food. What I really enjoyed was their salad which was refreshing but filled me up well.
The only reason they don’t get a 5-​star review from me is that their service was a little messy. We waited for quite a while and ended up going to the bar and ordering because a waiter never came to see us. We did the same to pay because we waited for so long.
It’s a lovely place and there were tonnes of big tables if you want to go in a group.

I went here last night for a group dinner. We book the private dinning room upstairs.
The night started off good. The bar staff were friendly and the atmosphere in the main bar relaxed and casual.
The dining room was old fashion and full of character.
We had pre ordered our food but when we arrived one of our starters had run out. This meant that our dinner that was supposed to start at 7:30 started 1 hour later. The food was mediocre at best. I had a hamburger with unimpressive fries. The chocolate brownie was dry and the first brownie I’ve never eaten completely.
I don’t think I’ll come here again.

A nice big pub close to Lancaster Gate. Inside there are quite a few tables and you can reserve an area. We had one in the back, could have done with a nice fireplace to warm us up and dry us out after getting caught in the rain.

To ask how I’d liked it cooked and then the Yorkshire pud was a bit on the crispy side. It was served with plenty of veg and a good bit of beef, they asked if we would like any sauces but they never arrived.
Apparently they say they do the best Bloody Mary so I opted for one, first I was asked how hot I would like it and then pointed in the direction of an selection of chilli spices which all sounded very hot. It wasn’t bad with a good amount of kick but at £9 I’ve had better, they key to a good mart isn’t just how hot you can make it.

I love my local pub; atmosphere great, seating good, staff friendly, location IDEAL and that is why it has a 4*. Bf and I came for Sunday roast — no need to book about 5pm however by the time we left at 7pm it was getting busy. I am afraid food is 3* — good but not great. Big portions, great pork belly, nice gravy, reasonable prices but the the potatoes weren’t good enough and the veg lacked any real flavour. Beer selection is good but could be more varied however if you are a gin fan they have a fair few! On a Sunday evening at 8pm they also have jazz music playing in the cocktail bar downstairs. Their dessert menu looks great but we were so full we didn’t get to try it :(

My partner and I dined here for dinner while on vacation in London. Our local tour guide recommended this place.
Pros– beautiful Victorian interior and exterior. Really nice pub ambiance. Good menu selections for both food and beverages. Options for meat eaters and vegetarians.
Cons– we dined on a Sunday evening and service was rather slow. The place was half empty so we had hoped for a speedy dinner to return to the hotel and overcome jet lag. Staff were pleasant but overwhelmed. Food was a just ok. My partner had a complete entrée with beef and sides. I was not very hungry so I ordered the halloumi salad with greens, mango, onions and quinoa. My partner said the beef entrée was decent but nothing really special. My salad was missing the mango. I would have appreciated it if they would have informed me in advance that they were out of mango as I would have ordered something else. The halloumi cheese on my salad was VERY dried out and almost tough as leather, like it had been left out on the counter and all moisture had evaporated. I ate it because I was tired but had I felt better I may have sent it back to the kitchen .
We would try this place again and hope for a better result. Ok to eat if you are nearby but not a destination restaurant. Prices are just ok for the food.

This is old-​school-​quaint pub, great for a fire-​side chat with an old mate or book club, but at the same time fun, hip and trendy with a wide selection of cool tunes and eclectic travelers, locals and expats alike. Great vibe for a pint. Free Wi-​fi, which only requires an email! Hope that I don’t start getting spam! Five stars for excellent atmosphere, fireplace, friendly staff and convenience!

This is the kind of pub that reinvented their food menu and bar bites to satisfy their new customers whom are mostly expats.
Their bar bites are exquisite and very tasty.

Discovered this place last September on our first visit to London and it was love at first sight. Good selection of British ales and other beers the owners have restaurants both upstairs and downstairs that have great menus, and the benefit is that the food in the pub is far better than the average pub food. You order beer and food at the bar, so no one comes to your table to take your order. At the same time, the food was brought to our table quickly and the wait staff were attentive and responsive. If I lived in this part of London, this would be my local pub.

An awesome pub close to our hotel, my husband and I stopped by almost everyday for a pint!
It does get busy on nice days and outside seating fills up fast.

This is a cosy pub in an attractive building, deceptively large with some lovely areas to hang out in. 2.05 for a half pint is a bit excessive though, even for tasty stuff such as Portobello VPA.

Nice staff.
Nice atmosphere.
Good food.
Clean and feels safe.
I’d certainly return.
To be clear though, I did round up to 4 stars. I’d actually give it a 3.5, if I had that option.

Great, cozy, warm pub with fun staff, good beer selection and minimal noise. It was easy to come here and decompress after a long day of walking around.

Fresh from a 10 hour flight, we stumbled down the street, not knowing where we were going, but definitely hungry. We wanted the stereotypical pub food, and we randomly found the Mitre and settled in. I loved the old school feel of it, and the fact that all its fireplaces were on, and the place was almost empty.
We were told to sit anywhere, but to go ahead and sit by the fireplace and get warm. We were not told, however, that you had to order at the bar, so we browsed through the menu for a loooong time, while no one came. Finally, we saw that you had to order at the bar, as well as pay right after ordering… silly tourists.
My friend and I both ordered the bangers and mash… they were delicious. The tables were a bit too small for dining, but the fireplace, the actual pub, and the food made for a good dinner. The barmen was also very nice, so I would definitely recommend this place.

Loungy, pubby, chill place for tourists and young locals to mix. Stayed at the Corus Hotel around the corner and this pub is preferred to the The Swan which is next to the hotel.
The bangers and mash and venison burger were decent meals.

We were staying at the Corus Hotel, which is right down the street from The Mitre, and we only discovered it on our last day in London! Too bad because it seemed like we were always searching for food, and The Mitre was quite good!
My friend got the steak and ale pie and I got fish and chips, and we both enjoyed our meals. The price was pretty good too. We also ordered a pitcher of Pimm’s lemonade, which was our favorite drink in London. But be careful — it’s one of those things that tastes like juice, then hits you before you realize it!
If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely go back to The Mitre.

This bar/​pub/​restaurant was close to our hotel so we decided to check it out on a Sunday afternoon for lunch.
We were delightfully surprised by the food (though we would agree it’s expensive). I had the steak and ale pie and my husband at the venison hot pot. Both were very flavorful and really hit the spot on a cold rainy day. The venison meat was very tender and the sauce it came with was rich and tasty. The steak and ale pie came with mash and veggies and I almost didn’t save room for the actual pie since the sides were super tasty. The free wi-​fi was also a treat since our hotel tried to charge us a ridiculous amount for daily Internet access.
Eating area was also homey — nice fire place and some nooks that you can hide with your pints and chatter away with your friends.
I can’t say that the staff people were the nicest in the world (fyi ‘hot pot’ is basically slow cooked, but don’t ask them to explain that), but if I had to work in a touristy area I could maybe understand their attitudes. Since you can pay for the food and drink ahead of time, your interaction is limited anyway, so we weren’t expecting much in terms of schmoozing from the bar keeps.
So if you are looking for a onetime English pub experience, I would definitely recommend! Better than the chain of pubs that LOOK like English pubs but aren’t.

The Mitre is more of a restaurant than a pub, truth be told. At how many pubs would the «Manager» come over and make me vacate a table because it was «previously reserved?» Whatever, buddy…
But once my friend and I did get seated, we had a decent enough time here, but only because we made friends with our server. She was very friendly, gave us a list of off-​the-​beaten-​path things to do during our time in London, and even posed for a picture with me. But don’t look for her there, because she said she was quitting. Sucks for you.
I had fish and chips here, which of course is an English staple. I must say that it was pretty delicious, but it’s hard to mess up something that is deep fried. The «chips» were really more like French fries too, which was a bit disappointing.
A little on the higher end than most of the other places nearby, The Mitre, at least in my opinion, was trying a bit too hard. The charm of pubs comes from the relaxed feel and the communal atmosphere. Neither of those was on tap.

Ein toller Pub, gutes Essen (hier sind Fish & Chips wirklich zu empfehlen!), umfangreiche Bier– und Getränkeauswahl, supernette Bedienungen. 5 Minuten bis Paddington Station, 3 Minuten bis Lancaster Gate und eine Minute zum Hyde Park. Absolut Empfehlenswert!

Our favorite pub, just a few blocks from our hotel on the way to Hyde Park. Since it is off the main road, it had more of a local feel. The service was never perfect, but the food was fine and the location was charming. While outdoor seating was limited, folks were always spilling out the door in the evening onto the mews.
We had their steak sandwich, potato leek soup, salad and cider. I always bypass beer for cider and they had two types on tap.

This is a nice Young’s pub a few minutes’ walk from Paddington station, with an attractive and noteworthy Grade-​II listed Victorian interior. It’s not the most atmospheric venue Paddington is too much of a crossroads for that but is a good find in an area with relatively few interesting pubs from which to choose.
The interor is richly decorated with dark wood panelling, etched glass screens and attractive floor mosaics. The ground floor has a large bar area wrapped around the single bar, with a mixture of standing room, bar stools, tables and sofas. Upstairs are two dining rooms, decorated in the best Victorian parlour tradition, with yellow flock paper, mirrors and pictures. The upstairs rooms can be hired for meetings and dining.
They serve the full range of Young’s ales, plus a guest beer, which all seem well kept. The food menu is extensive, with starters around the £4.50−5.50 mark, and mains around £9 (steak is £14). We had fishcakes, which came with rocket salad and chips, and roasted vegetable and potato dauphinoise, with goats cheese and salad both were substantial and enjoyable, although a friend’s steak was less successful (over-​done). A pud of treacle tart with ice cream (£4.95) was very nice, but not really needed thanks to the generous mains.
Service was pretty good and very friendly throughout.
I will be very happy to go back to eat or drink. A plus is that serve food until 22h.
