The Nelson

A dump of a pub.

Went there one evening with hubby to watch a spanish football game. We ordered drinks, 20min later, the pub is absolutely crowded and a waiter came to tell me that if we want to stay and watch the game we have to drink more. I though it was a joke, I looked around of me, plenty of guys were not drinking anything at that moment and we were the only ones to be told something. I complained to the manager who didn’t even apologize. Was it because we were the only supporters for the other team, I don’t know, but I won’t go there never ever again !!!

The Nelson is a small pub just a minutes walk away from Wood Green Tube. I use to visit quite often but tend to go elsewhere nowadays.
During the world cup, they actually re-​named it Svens Den. So the owners are quite creative on that note. In fact, when the world cup was on, Svens Den made it on the news, a few times and was a hub showing fans celebrating.
I like it in here, especially when the football is on, it has a good atmosphere. Though, what I have heard from the grapevine, is that for the last few years, there has been a little too much trouble. So my visits have decreased from once a week to the very occasional.
I recently noticed that the cctv monitor is right next to the plasma screen, just to let you know that you are being watched. I’m not too sure what has been going on in here, but that can not be a great sign. Regardless, whenever I have been here, I have enjoyed myself, its cheap and cheerful in my eyes, it has a patio in the case that you feel like a smoke, and also has a couple of pool tables.

I love the drink here and the service is very nice and friendly. I love the food to.

The Lord Nelson is probably my favourite bar in Woodgreen — maybe that’s because the competition is so poor, but still. This bar has a modern feel to it, but is also very cosy. They have a couple of pool tables, and the people that drink here tend to be quite friendly.
The service is fantastic, and the bar staff are very chatty and friendly. Once you’ve been there once or twice they treat you like a local. :)
Good range of beers, and if you’re a sports fan they have Sky sports.

This pub is nice and the people are friendly. i went here last new years eve and had a blast, the drinks are cheap and the staff are friendly and nice. The karaōke is a laugh if u can get on as the locals loe to sing and have fun but it s a lovely pub.

This is a nice little pub in Wood Green. I would say go down on a Thursday night which is the karaōke night. But I will let you know, you may have to fight to get on the karaōke machine because this is one of the local pubs that the Mountivew students go to. Lets put it this way karaōke machine + musical theatre students = loud, drunken, tits, teeth and arse with jazz hands singing can you ask for anything more!
