A single room pub, just off Borough High Street. I went with a friend on Friday evening around 6:30 and it was very busy. No seats, just standing room. It feels like a bit of a find when you walk down the small yard off the high street, but inside it has a nice buzz. I’d say mostly local office workers, all having a nice time. A surprisingly large choice of draft beers was available. I had a 2 pints of a Cornish bitter, very nicely kept and served. There’s also a happy hour Monday to Thursday. The bar itself looks a bit shabby, but certainly not unpleasant, just comfortable. A definite change(and for the better) of typical mass chains in the area serving in sterile drinking halls. Large TV screens were present, the crowd mostly male. Bar staff quick and friendly. I’d very happily go back again. Outside the entrance is where you find all the smokers!

Petit pub de quartier basique. La bière est bonne. Les plats né sont pas très chers et tout à fait corrects(hamburger ou pâtes ok, saumon trop cuit).

It’s an OK place, It’s off the High St, down an alleyway. Busy but not too busy and a few screens mounted high showing different football matches(at least whilst I was there) which adds to the atmosphere as it offers that bit more viewing. Good choice of beers and normal London prices. It probably needs a décor refresh but it’s still OK and has character.

Pub in a good location showing a lot of sport on the big screens. The pub could do with a bit of a makeover and needs a good clean. The pint was ok but no more and it’s not somewhere I’ll be rushing back to, especially with so many other options to choose from in the same area

The Football’s always on which is a plus for the area as most of the surrounding pubs don’t show sport. Great pints at a reasonable price and there’s a happy hour on week nights although I can’t remember exactly what time. The staff are friendly and there’s a function room upstairs which is available for hire. Can’t go wrong.

This place is so appealing on the outside, that it draws you in. After snapping a few pics of the exterior, my friend and I decided that we’d really be the ultimate tourist dorks if we had pictures of places that we didn’t even enter. So, and excuse to hit another pub — like you need one. This place seemed full of locals, a few tourists, regulars and a very friendly, chatty bartender. She was great. Cheap beers, a giant, bleeping, ringing gambling machine and a few TVs with soccer matches. Nothing wrong with soccer matches!

This is a dependable pub and quite a good place to watch the sport with a nice pint of real ale. The pub has clearly been around a while too. It is quite small though and is not really the place to come if you want a quiet drink.

This is a no-nonsense pub that’s simply a bar with some stools around it and a few tables around the side of a square room. A little hard to find since it’s down a small side street, but worth the extra exploration to find it. Basic, but good with it; nothing too fancy. Can get very busy and you can end up on a zone of standing room only getting a little in the way many an evening. Has 2 flat screens and a big screen and can show 2 channels at the same time; which is great for a champions league evenings with two English clubs playing. 3 Real Ale pumps that change often along with the usual taps of booze. Currently in this place watching Zambia in the African nations and Charlton in the league. Currently 2 girls in the whole pub(that don’t work there) so I certainly say this is a boys pub :-)

I’d completely forgotten about this place until last night. After faffing around in a restaurant and not getting our bill, we missed last orders at The Rake(and a few other places too) so I took my friend on a mystery walk to a pub I haven’t been to in five years. Luckily, it was still there, they had ale on tap, they hadn’t called last orders and there was even a few stools for perching on. Perfect. There are a lot of pubs around Borough Market, but this is the one that catches the regular market traders rather than the tourists. It’s an interesting mix of people(although always looks like it might get a bit hairy late at night). I like that this place is tucked away, it’s like a fab little secret two seconds from the tube. It’s not the friendliest pub in the world, but it feels local and that’s cool. Certainly better than some of the bland tourist traps in the area.

An unpretentious place, very close to London Bridge, good beer, cheap prices and excellent service. There is often some sport on the TV and the place is filled with commuters trying to squeeze in a final sherbet, locals residents and the nearby market office and shop workers. A real respite from the fashionable thronging places that surround it and a genuine pub.

Rammed Friday night. Jim beam available. messy bar — maybe the bussy just quit? Fast service. Sport on tv. we spent more time out than in so judgements must be reserved.

A good little London boozer, nice change from the chains. The all day Breakfast was spot on.

Fantastic summer pub located in a little paved ‘yard’ off of the busy and popular Borough High Street. The distinguishing factor about this pub is the mass of outdoor seating in the beer garden; which incidently is the size of the yard. This is one of my favourite places to while away summer days, with a crisp g & t. The location means that the crowd is ecclectic; foodies from the local Borough Market(which is literally over the road), locals and Southbank workers all frequent this place. It’s also close to London Bridge so if you feel like having a tourist moment pre or post visit it’s always a joy to walk over. I spent a rather long day here this summer, which resulted in me falling off a bench and spraining my ankle. Very embarrassing, but the crutches were good fun! Highly recommended.

this was a proper pub. a very good mix of people and excellent beer on tap(its the pump tap). everyone seemed to be content with just relaxing which makes for an excellent atmosphere. it livened up when the football match was on.

Agree with the above review. Proper pub down a side alley. Lot’s of locals with the football on. Some travelling football fans but no sign of any trouble.

Brilliant, I really like this place, it is such a departure from some of the vile chain pubs in this area. Right, down to basics this is a old fashioned boozer, it is a room with a few tables and beer stained chairs, it’s got a massive sports screen, an old style millionaire machine, really friendly staff, cheap pub grub and a good selection of beers. There’s a brilliant mix of people in here most of the times and it is pretty hospitable to travelling football fans as long as you don’t start chanting too much! But you never quite know what you’ll be getting, was in there the other night and there were 10 ravers in all their cyber gear sitting around with the regulars. This is the sort of place this country should be proud of, I only wish there were more left.
