Ordered Sunday roast for delivery via deliveroo(best idea ever) and it was SOGOOD. Yorkshire pudding still crispy, lovely homemade horseradish, lots of meat… Ace.

Really good pub with great food. To be fair it is expensive but it’s a high quality and very friendly service. Nice atmosphere and family friendly, great for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Been several times and highly recommend even though it’s the sort of the place you don’t really want to get too popular.

I came here for a 3 course meal invite only dinner the other night and the whole thing was absolutely fantastic. For starters we got a range of things to try on a platter. My favourite was the Salted beef croquettes with piccalilli mayonnaise. I’m still thinking about how tasty they were a whole week on! For main course we got to try small portions of the Summer squash and sage risotto(very creamy and nice) pan Fried venison hauch steak with roast baby turnips! Absolutely delicious and so chewy. Yummy! And Roast fillet of Peterhead cod. Very tasty too. For pudding we got to try sammy’s banoffee pie, Caramelised lemon tart with lime sorbet which was surprisingly brilliant and my personal favourite of the entire evening the sticky toffee pudding!!! What a night. Everyone should come here. Great atmosphere and location too!

Annnnnnd back to 3 stars. Go for beers and chats with friends without loud music thumping out a beat inside your eyeball, don’t go for the food — it’s varies massively from one day to the next. DO get onto their email list for news of special offers however as they can be very good(talking of which, 50% off food if you order before 7:30pm is on until June — this makes the food good value for what it is).

Get REAL A £30 service charge in what is, lest we forget, a PUB, regardless of the ambitions of the kitchen, is a non-starter and I won’t ever go back. Food is good, don’t get me wrong oysters, a good grilled mackerel and terrine and a nice cheese plate. All perfectly well executed. In fact very well so. But the prices are on par with Fitzrovia, where you don’t get toddlers sprawled out all over the shop next to you This isn’t a pub with an area set aside for dining. It’s just A PUB. Amp up the SERVICE and environment appropriately if you want to charge these prices! Bloody Marys were weak, and came in all manner of glasses of seemingly different sizes over two rounds. Not on. Service was forgetful, awfully slow and there were 10 minute gaps where dishes of the same course should all have landed on the table. * drums fingers on cheese board while friend’s puddings are absent * Six oysters came when three times that amount were ordered, and we had to go and ask where the remainder were. Yes, they’re COMING! we were told, when an explanation with the arrival of the first six would have worked a little better A shame. There’s a chef here with flair. But I’m totally over this whole gastro pub rip off you can’t just serve good food at premium prices, with lacklustre service, in a haphazard pub environment and expect the same goodwill as you would if you were just serving a pint of Scrumpy Jack.

Food no redemption Spent a disappointing Sunday lunch at the Prince Arthur yesterday. Whilst the food was good, and would have been great if the portions had been more filling or less expensive, the few drinks they had were pretty limited. Given they charged £15+ for a meal, we were pretty surprised they only had one bitter on tap(and London Pride at that), their pre-made Bloody Mary was weak, and nothing on tap looked that interesting. All of that would have been ok though, and enjoyable enough, if it hadn’t been for the crowd in there. Coked-up hipsters making far too much noise spoilt the experience not just for us, but for tables on both sides of us. Whilst the staff clearly saw the problem, and were receiving complaints, they did nothing about it, even when the trouble-makers started insulting other customers. The Prince Arthur doesn’t help itself. Essentially a very large square room with a bar in the middle, its un-carpeted floor reflects noise in every direction, so that it’s difficult to hear what someone next to you is saying, and far too easy to hear what everyone else is saying. I don’t mean to be entirely negative. The stuffed animal heads on the wall add an element of character, and getting table service in a pub was an unexpected positive. Don’t think we’ll be going back though.

This is just such a lovely pub and fantastic for group dinners .I recently went out here for a going away dinner and we had a large table and banquet — the dinner was great — wine even better — and desert gorgeous(home-made date ice cream). This pub was so different before renovated and has been brought back to life to such a high standard — all the original details are here with new tufted leather banquettes and old animal taxiderm box scenes . The overall feeling is more upmarket and gastro pub-like. Feels very special occasion and slightly formal. It is not really really expensive but this is not cheap — you can have a main meal for £ 11 – 15.00 and deserts around £5.00 — it is the drink that will top the bill. I know it does not make sense but I have a problem with no smoking –Not that I want to smoke as a former smoker — I just really miss that smoky atmosphere — I know we are all healthier my clothing smells better in the morning and it is nicer to not eat around smoke but pubs should have a bit of a haze about them — So this is my only bad words about the pub — no haze. otherwise great.
