The Square Pie Company

Very nice pies. To select the pie for yourself is little difficult, since you can’t choose all of them once.

Recovering from a late night of beer and networking, my coworker suggested pie and mash for lunch. Feeling that meat and potatoes might just be the solution to the problem we were both facing, we walked to Spitalfields.
First, I have to say upfront that I am not a pie fan. I’m just not. I’m too American or something. So for me to get excited over pie, it’s got to be something so amazing that my perception of pie will forever be changed.
It wasn’t.
The steak & guinness pie was fine enough. I just cant handle the gooey liquid that pours out when you slice into the crust. That said, the crust was nice, I’m just not into crust. The steak and carrots were tender, but I’m just not overwhelmed.
The mash didnt taste fresh despite what appeared to be bits of peelings in it. The gravy was ok. The peas were peas.
It was filling, but other than putting warm food in my belly, I have nothing exciting to report. It’s traditional pie, mash and peas. So if that’s what you’re looking for — then you might be in the right place.
For me, it was a good try but just not my thing.
